Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th This isn't my post, but from Bet shoot. However it outlines the extent of the injury crisis Nice find themselves in quite well. "Nice are with 5 losses in a row, and if they don't start winning they will soon find themselves in the relegation battle. Their main problem is the sheer amount of injuries they have. Out for today will be Genevois(D/9), Jeremy Pied(M/10) ,Luigi Bruins(M/3), Eric Bautheac(F/8/1), Mahamane Traore(M/7) Mathieu Bodmer(M/9), David Ospina(GK/11) and 5 other long-term injuries without a start this season. The first three got injured in the last match so if they managed to lose 5 games with them I can't really see them getting anything from this match. Last game they lost to Lorient 3:0 on the road." Nice have lost their last 5 (form has coincided with absentees), Monaco lifted at the weekend without Falcao and should do again here as they can't drop points against injury ravaged Nice.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Nantes – Valenciennes The hosts are in good condition ahead of this contest. They only have one injury of note, and thats CB Gabriel Cichero, who probably wouldn’t have started anyway. The welcome back midfielder Lucian Deaux from injury, also key man Jordan Veretout who mysteriously sat on the bench facing Guingamp at the weekend. Valenciennes have some issues. In defence Lindsay Rose remains injured, whilst right back Rudy Mater is another guy on the treatment table now. They are at full strength in midfield, but upfront the key strike duo of Le Tallec and Pujol are both ruled out. Youngster, Opa Nguette is crocked as well, which means VA’s options upfront are rather limited for this match. Nantes have actually lost their last 2 home matches, both by a 0-1 scoreline. But those were facing the likes of Monaco and Lille, so hardly much of a disgrace. This is a much more manageable fixture because VA are nowhere near the class of those two outfits. New coach Ariel Jacobs has yet to taste defeat on the road, but this’ll be a tough challenge away at Le Stade Beaujoire on a Tuesday night. Nantes have definitely been playing like a top 10 team this season, and despite a couple of recent setbacks I fancy them to bounce back well here. They will be desperate to returning to winning ways following a slightly tough period. VA aren’t going to offer much attacking threat without Pujol and I struggle to see how they score here. For now, I’m not going to bet on this match though. I think the bookies are pretty fair with their lines and I don’t like Nantes on a -0.75 line. VA have been pretty competitive of late and are fighting much harder under Ariel Jacobs. They are one of the worst 5 teams in Ligue 1, but ‘not that bad’ if you know what I mean. I don’t usually like backing any sides except reliable good ones on any handicap greater than -0.5, unless the opposition is woeful. I give Nantes the edge here and I think they will ultimately win, but if I’m going to back them, I’d need a better price than this. Plus I’d need to be more confident that they’d cover a -0.75 handicap, I’m not totally convinced they will. Prediction: Nantes 1-0 Valenciennes Recommended bet: None Lille – Marseille Team news is favourable for both sides. Lille do have fullback Franck Beria suspended, which is a blow, but they are pretty much at full strength apart from his absence. Midfielder Marvin Martin is included in the squad for the first time in a number of weeks following injury, but he’ll probably only be benched. Marseille are at full strength and only miss left winger Andre Ayew who is out of action until the new year. Right back Rod Fanni is back in the squad and will probably start, I suspect OM have been saving him for this game. OM have had one extra day to prepare for this fixture but because they are away from home, this advantage is probably negated. Oooooohhhhh this is going to be tasty game of football, a lot of people are looking forward to it! For a start, both teams are well situated in the table and this is a battle between 2nd and 4th in the standings. There is of course a fairly big rivalry between the two sides as well, and now also some bad blood. A big story surrounding this game is Florian Thauvin, who of course joined OM from Lille during the summer. Thauvin never actually played a single game for Lille and Les Dogues fans absolutely hate him. He was even attacked at the airport last night!!! He is going to get a ton of abuse in this match, which of course will probably lead to the whole fixture boiling over and tempers flaring. I would personally give him plenty of abuse at the stadium tonight too if I was a Lille fan, the ex Bastia man acted like a real cunt in the summer and was a bit out of order with his actions. But might it risk making Thauvin absolutely mega motivated to perform really well? Thauvin has been on fire recently too and may yet have the last laugh on LOSC. In terms of actual football, Lille are of course on a run of 9 consecutive clean sheets, which is remarkable. Their defence has been impenetrable recently, but this could be its toughest test for a long time. I have a feeling OM will score at least one goal in this game to end the LOSC run. The visitors are a team who possess very strong offensive talent when allowed to express themselves by coach Elie Baup. Lille are a good team but I’ve said for a while now that they are overrated. They themselves have struggled to score goals recently, how are they going to respond if OM actually manage to break through? Maybe the Thauvin ‘abuse’ might be a distraction for the hosts, it could maybe put them off their game a bit, whilst also making OM play with more motivation and fire. There is no way Lille should be priced around 2.0 on a -0.5 line. This would suggest that they are one full class better than Marseille, but that is absolute bullshit. I actually rank OM as slightly better, but at very worst these two sides are evenly matched. The asian line should be -0.25 at the same price and IMO there is value on OM +0.5. But I’m not actually going to bet. It’s not usually a good idea to back away sides in Ligue 1, especially in this sort of situation where Lille still have to be given some respect. I would love to see OM win here but I fear my own personal feelings might influence a bet if I’m not careful. I have no need to get involved in this encounter, I can wait for better opportunities. It’s an awesome feeling to have a winner in this type of big glamorous fixture, but as a friend of mine (Horse racing punter) once said to me:- ‘From a financial point of view, having a winner on the Cheltenham Gold Cup is exactly the same as having one in a Class H maiden stakes race at somewhere like Haydock Park’ It’s pretty true and I sense this is a volatile game to swerve. Btw for those who fancy it, Thauvin is 15/1 FGS and 6/1 anytime. How often does someone like this come back to haunt their ex side eh? Prediction: Lille 1-1 Marseille Recommended bet: None

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Great Lille OM preview Meatman. True about Thauvin. I only saw him first play vs Napoli and he looked quite dangerous cutting into the box. Then last week the Champions League commentator mentioned Wenger had his eye on the boy when they played Arsenal. I just wanted to know quickly your early thoughts on Evian v PSG. I want to throw PSG into an accumulator before the price drops and was wondering if you see any reasons besides the obvious possible rotation, that PSG would drop points there?

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Nice – Monaco Nice continue to have big injury problems, although at least welcome back a couple of guys here. Key man at the back Mathieu Bodmer should be fit enough to start along with Romain Genevois, both of whom missed the Lorient match at the weekend. On the flip side, Pejcinovic is still injured and right back Gregoire Puel is suspended. The only midfielder now injured is Mahamane Traore, whilst in attack the winging duet of Bautheac and pied remain on the sidelines. Nice aren’t as badly affected by injuries as they were, but still aren’t in good shape. The big news for Monaco is that Falcao is still injured and not included in the squad. Ferreira Carrasco is their only other absentee. Nice have been so beat up recently and its been affecting their results. Claude Puel’s men are on a run of 5 straight defeats and have desperately struggled to cope with key absences. The starting XI shouldn’t be too bad tonight though, even if their bench strength is virtually non existent. They were actually unlucky to lose 3-0 against Lorient at the weekend, I was fairly impressed with their performance its just that key chances were missed. Many people are expecting Monaco to win this game easily tonight but I’m not so sure. This is a tough place for any visiting side to play and its a south coast derby where both teams hate each other. The match also means a lot more to Nice and this is basically their ‘superbowl’ fixture. They will throw the kitchen sink at Monaco tonight and fight harder than ever. I don’t think they’ll win, but I have a feeling this one might end up as a surprising draw. A gut instinct tells me to avoid betting on the content anyway, even if logic does point to a Monaco win. Prediction: Nice 1-1 Monaco Recommended bet: None

only possible reasons are if PSG switch off and lose focus, the weather (always worth checking for Annecy this time of year) or pitch condition which can be shit at the Parc Des Sports

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th I will have 2 bets for tonight. First one is fc Nantes at home against valenciennes. Normally this would be a tough match to predict but there are some important facts that favor the home team. First thing is valenciennes away record, almost in every season they really struggle to collect points away from home. They sacked their coach, got a new one and they improved a bit thank god cause it was terrible. Second thing is ofcourse their missings for tonight. Next big miss are their 2 best strikers. I expect fc Nantes to control to game, that means valenciennes will mostly play long balls and try to hurt nantes on counters. But without a decent striker upfront it is really hard to connect your midfield with your attack cause they cant hold the ball upfront. It will only give nantes more advantage to strike back fast. Third thing is nantes form. They are having a solid season so far, they are having a little set back but that is normal for a team like nantes. They do not have the biggest budget and most wide squad so injuries can harm them. Anyways, for tonight they wont be affected that much and if we look at their results at home. You can only be positive about this team. Oke, they lost 3 times but that was against PSG, lille and monaco. Top 3 teams so not that weird imo. They won the other 5 games at home against bastia, nice, sochaux, evian and a cup win against lorient. But the most important fact is that they kept 5 cleansheets against these opponents. Now they face a valenciennes side without decent forwards. I'm sure fc nantes will find a goal and I really doubt if the away team will get one. Odds are not big but bookies also know these facts. Home advantage is big here and I think they will deliver tonight. Medium stakes on the home win and small stakes on nantes -1!

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Second bet is Monaco for me and BTS. Away team really surprised me with their standing on the table. Any team can buy big players but it takes time to adapt. But rainieri is doing a great job, experienced coach is vital for this team. Falcao is out but they already showed they have some big potential in their squad, especially upfront. They are always capable to score goals they showed that against top teams this season. They won away at marseille, bordeaux and nantes. A draw against PSG also! That are great results for a new team in ligue1. Hard places to visit and I think they will face nice just in team. Home team is in terrible shape losing 5 games in a row with many missings. Their leading striker is back so that is a boost and he is always dangerous especially in home games. But his colleague winger bautheac. Which is a blow, regular defender puel is suspended and another regular defender is out due injury, pejcinovic. Pied regular midfielder is also missing and traore. These are big blows for the team and we saw that in recent games. Their most important missing is ofcourse their goalkeeper ospina. Without a convincing goalkeeper your defense is also affected in a negative way. Defenders will act differently when they are not sure about their goallie. Nice conceded a lot of goals lately and now they face a dangerous side like Monaco. No way they will keep a cleansheet in this game. But I still like the BTS bet with some units. Monaco only kept 1 cleansheet in their last 5 away games and Nice is still solid at home. And with cvitanich they have a deadly striker. No more than 1 goal though and I expect monaco to get atleast 2. All in all away win and goals for me.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Nice and Monaco. Very one-sided event in my book I would say as Nice is in terrible for lately and there is plenty of value in these odds on away victory. Victory over Marseille, 5 games ago, didn't say that Nice side will loose the following 5 in a row. By any means. After that glorious score against Marseille, Nice side scored only two goals and conceded 10. Terrible score, and to add to that, now they have to play against Monaco side that finally managed to wake up from their bad streak. And when you look into injury list of Nice team, you have to wonder who will play as they have as much as 11 injured players (Pied, Dada, Bruins, Genevois, Hassen, Bautheac, Traore, Ospina, Maupay, Bodmer, Pentecote). Very tough times for home side in Ligue 1. Monaco, as I said, managed to find a bit of form lately, as they've won last two games they have played (2:0 against Rennes and 0:1 against Nantes). Victory is completely necessary to keep the pace up with the leading PSG which has 5 point advantage at the moment. Falcao, Dirar, Barazite and Ferreira-Carrasco are still out with injuries, but that won't matter much if we take a look at Nice and their list of injured players. Monaco should have no problems defeating this Nice side today and odds are quite generous. Monaco @ 1.83 with WHill. GL -------------------------------------- Lille and Marseille should play very tight match and I see plenty value in 2-3 goals market with bet365! Lille has been amazing at home this season, 18 points from 7 games, 11:2 goal difference and they are trailing PSG with 4 points deficit now. This 6 games they've won at home, were won with clean sheet and I must say that is pretty amazing given the fact that they played against Monaco and they didn't concede (2:0 victory). Opponents find very hard to score at Lille home ground and I can't see that it will be any different to Marseille tonight. Ruiz, Martin and Mentes are still out for the home team. Marseille is doing great job away from home, 15 points from 8 matches keep them as second best away team in the league. They have no hopes left for Champions League and I can see them turning completely towards Ligue 1 competition. They are regaining form lately as they won their last away match with 3-1 against Ajaccio. Ayew and Fanni are still out for the visitors. It is interesting to mention that Lille didn't score against Marseille in the last three matches they have played against each other but somehow I can see couple of goals in this one. Bet365 has market Number of Goals in Match (under Goals), I will go for 2 or 3 goals in this one @ 1.95. GL

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Marseille are way undervalued. their only dip in results was participation in champions league where they haven't been able to string wins after midweek games but they have started being solid again. I can't see them losing so away win outright or on Asian handicap should bring in the money.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Well I'm glad I didn't bet on Marseille +0.5 Lille are such a fucking annoying and lucky team. Every week they seem to get outplayed but sneak a 1-0 win. Yet again their GK Enyeama made some awesome saves. I am sickened by that loss for OM. If anyone bet on them, you were really unfortunate and this defeat was undeserved.

Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Ajaccio vs Bastia AW at 2,1 on betclic But just be careful, it will be an away match for both sides because Ajaccio's field is baned, the match will be without public too (à huis-clos, I don't how to translate this). Ajaccio is deeply in the hole, bottom of the Ligue 1. Even if Ravanelli was sacked, his method of very hard training continue to make her bad effects, that is to say ajaccio is able to resist the first half, maybe part of the second one but not until the end cause players are too tired. Bastia will just fancy to put their neighbour in just a more messy situation and their current form have to be underlined too. Thanks

PSG have play Sunday Night vs Lyon (4-0) play tonight at Evian, play Sathurday vs Sochaux and gone play at Benfica for CL match (they are already 1st and qualified) Maybe Coach Blanc gone make big rotate this week , of course PSG's group is very very talented and can rotate easily , but who know? Re: Ligue 1 Orange > December 3rd - 5th Ajaccio – Bastia Ajaccio don’t have any new problems, but a total of 7 injured players are ruled out, along with the suspension of striker Camara. Obviously a few key players such as Pedretti and Mutu are still missing here, ACA have been badly hampered by injuries all year. Bastia had a full strength squad at the weekend against Evian, but they have 3 absentees for this encounter. RB Drissa Diakite is injured along with midfielder Julien Sable. A more important loss in the middle of the park is Yannick Cahuzac, who’s suspended. To make matters worse, fellow man in the middle, Romaric is rated doubtful. Upfront, Claudio Keseru isn’t included in the squad by choice of the coach, but he probably wouldn’t have started anyway. The most important thing to note about this match is that it’ll be played at Le Stade Parsemain in Istres, totally behind closed doors. No fans are going to be allowed inside the stadium and its completely on neutral turf. Le Stade Parsemain is used to not having many fans in attendance. Istres games are renowned as lacking in atmosphere and life, but unfortunately the stadium has now sunk to new depths! This is a sad state of affairs because the Corsican derby is one of my favourite matches of the year for atmosphere, passion and in terms of a spectacle. Unfortunately now it’ll be one of those weird games where you can hear all sorts of weird noises you wouldn’t normally hear with a crowd in the stands. I hate games like this because they can be really hard to predict, the question is exactly which team will adapt better to the situation. Despite the sanctions surrounding the fixture, I still expect a pretty intense match and plenty of effort from both sides, this is after all the most important fixture of the season for each club. Ajaccio are almost in must win territory such is their poor ligue position. ACA have only won 1 out of 15 games and find themselves joint bottom of the table in all sorts of a mess. Bastia have a shocking 0-3-5 away record and whilst this can perhaps be ignored because of the circumstances, they clearly don’t play well anywhere except for their own stadium. If Ajaccio could take advantage of Bastia’s midfield problems tonight then they might have a chance. If I had to back a team, I’d take Ajaccio +0.25. They just feel like the ‘right side’ to me in this fixture, but I won’t be betting here. Why would anyone want to bet on this volatile game seriously? There are so many unpredictable factors and the behind closed doors neutral stadium just adds to the bizarreness of things. Gun to my head I’d take Ajaccio to get something, but bad things happen when you bet on bad teams and Ajaccio are a rotten outfit. Prediction: Ajaccio 1-1 Bastia Recommended bet: None Guingamp – Bastia The hosts still have midfielder Mustapha Diallo suspended, although Lionel Mathis is back from his ban. Upfront, key man Yatabare is still injured and now Christophe Mandanne has joined him on the sidelines (suspension). Guingamp could lack a bit of pace upfront, both of those guys are capable of stretching the field. Bordeaux have a squad in good condition but they do miss key striker Cheikh Diabate who’s ill. This is a massive loss because he’s such a great physical presence and goalscoring threat for them. This will be Bordeaux’s 3rd match in 6 days, but they are used to playing midweek fixtures which will help them. I am waiting for Guingamp bubble to burst because I’d be surprised if they managed to remain in the top 10 for too much longer. The newly promoted outfit have done really well so far this year but sooner or later teams will work them out more and expose their lack of ligue 1 quality. Nevertheless, I suppose for now, they have to be respected, especially at home where they have a great 5-2-1 record. They haven’t lost at Le Stade Roudourou since the opening day of the season against OM and opposition sides seem to really struggle against their direct style of play. Bordeaux are the sort of side who can go anywhere away from home and pick up a result though, I have a feeling they’ll line up really defensive here and make themselves hard to break down. Both teams miss their best striker so there might be a lack of goals in the fixture too. Bordeaux are really hard to beat and have only lost 1 of their last 10 games, the big question is whether or not they’ll have enough to pick up all 3 points. If they had Cheikh Diabate fit then I’d have probably backed them on a 0AH, but unfortunately he’s a key loss for them. I see this as ending up as a draw or an away win though. Bordeaux are actually a good team with many quality players who are capable of producing a great tactical gameplan. Guingamp aren’t as good as their ligue position suggests and will sooner or later move down the table. This is another game I’ll swerve though because the odds just aren’t tasty enough for my liking. Prediction: Guingamp 0-0 Bordeaux Recommended bet: None Montpellier – Lorient The hosts still have RB Yassine Jebbour injured but they don’t have any other problems in defence and midfield. However, in attack Souleymane Camara is suspended and Djamel Bakar is now ruled out long term with an ACL. Lorient have been in better condition recently, but it seems like his was just a false dawn because once again they have a number of players in their infirmary. No1 GK Audard will only be on the bench because of his back problems. The likes of Alain Traore, Kevin Monnet Paquet & Coutadeur are all ruled out too, whilst Yann Jouffre is only expected to be on the bench. Defender/midfielder Wesley Lautoa is suspended, although at least they do welcome back Maxime Barthelme and Lamine Kone. Even Lorient have sunk to a new low regarding injuries tonight though because their manager is also ruled out! Christian Gourcuff underwent hip surgery yesterday and won’t be on the sidelines for the next 3 matches. It seems that Lorient are always destined to play this fixture beaten up and depleted. I seem to remember them in recent years travelling to Montpellier without a number of key players, and once again this is the case tonight. This is a shame for them because Les Merlus have improved a lot recently and Montpellier are right there for the taking on current form. The champions of 2 years ago find themselves as low as 17th in the table and under serious pressure. Only 3 teams have actually lost less games than them all season, but a whopping 9 draws has badly hampered their cause. This is almost must win territory otherwise Jean Fernandez might get the boot. MHSC President Louis Nicollin has recently announced that he ‘made a mistake’ by appointing Fernandez, so this is hardly much of a vote of confidence. I was really hoping that there’d be some nice line value on Montpellier tonight because I fancy them to win. But sadly the bookies are giving nothing away. How on earth can they be an odds on shot with some firms? Really it doesn’t make sense to me, but this is frustrating because I expected they’d be an overreaction to Montpellier’s poor winless streak. Lorient are renowned as being woeful on the road and I’m willing to believe that their victory at Evian (4-0) a couple of weeks ago was a pure fluke. They will also miss the presence of their coach Christian Gourcuff who is in hospital following his hip operation. This is a kitchen sink game for the hosts and I expect them to throw everything at Lorient. MHSC really have to win and they should be able to get 3 points and take advantage of Lorient’s absentees. But I can’t be backing them at this price. I’d have loved a -0.25 line @ the same odds, but considering their current pressures It’d be foolish to back the south coast club when there is such little value. I considered over 2.5 or 2.25 as well, but Lorient are missing too many offensive weapons for me to take that either. Prediction: Montpellier 2-1 Lorient Recommended bet: None Rennes – St Etienne There is complete mystery surrounding the Rennes squad ahead of this match. The team will undergo a training session on Wednesday morning, after which the coach will chose his squad of 18. This is a complete bullshit excuse and coach Philippe Montanier just wants to make it harder for St Etienne to prepare for this fixture. Nobody knows if Alessandrini or Kadir will be fit enough to play here, both missed out on Saturday against Monaco. St Etienne are pretty much unchanged and have no new injuries or suspensions to deal with ahead of this fixture. A small point to make about this match is that no St Etienne fans will be allowed inside the ground, there is an away ban on their fans for a few fixtures following disturbances at Nice a couple of weeks ago. I must say that this Rennes squad situation intrigues me. Its VERY unusual in France for a Ligue 1 team NOT to announce its squad for a match the night before the local press are pretty pissed off about it and I’m sure St Etienne are pretty annoyed too. I know teams in leagues like the EPL and Serie A regularly do this so they can gain a tactical advantage, so its interesting to see Philippe Montanier try this naughty trick. Perhaps he learnt it from his time at Real Sociedad, but ultimately I think it could be a masterstroke. Sainte won’t be able to prepare for this fixture as well, there are too many question marks. They won’t have a clue who they are facing until an hour before kick off, from what I’ve heard Montanier won’t even be announcing the squad after the morning training session! In terms of form, Rennes are also really hard to predict. They’ve only won 1 of their last 9 games although are capable of playing better than this statistic suggests. Only Nantes have managed to beat them at Le Stade Route de Lorient so far this season. I think it’s time Rennes got another win under their belts and I like the idea of backing them tonight. Montanier is a good coach and I think he realises the importance of the situation. I would expect he’s been working overtime in the last few days to come up with a tactical game plan for this match, and he’s desperate to have a shroud of secrecy with all these behind closed door sessions etc. I think they have a good chance tonight because I’m not convinced St Etienne are that reliable on the road. They opened the season with consecutive road wins at Ajaccio and VA but since then have struggled. They managed to pick up 3 points at Nice a couple of weeks ago, but that was facing an extremely depleted outfit. Sainte are often a team that does stupid dumb things and they find ways to fuck themselves over. I could see them cocking up in a fixture like this. Rennes shouldn’t be priced as big as they are tonight, a 0AH is a definite value line. If Alessandrini and Kadir do end up playing then even more so the better, but even without them I’m willing to stake a few units. Prediction: Rennes 1-0 St Etienne Recommended bet: Rennes 0AH @ 2.0 4/10 Sochaux – Reims The hosts only have one new injury with defender/midfielder Carlao ruled out. They don’t have any other real issues and no suspensions to worry about. New striker Pierre Alain Frau makes an appearance in the squad for the first time, but I’d expect him to start from the bench. Reims are in good condition as well and have nobody on the sidelines of importance except for longer term absentees. Both teams head into the contest on the back of big defeats. Reims were smashed 4-0 at St Etienne, whilst Sochaux went down 5-1 at Toulouse. The big question here is who exactly will respond better after being hammered at the weekend. Sochaux sit rock bottom of the table with only 1 win to their name all season. New coach Herve Renard is still waiting for his first victory and its absolutely imperative it comes tonight. They are already 7 points adrift of safety and have to travel to PSG on Saturday where they’ll probably get battered. To be honest, I’ve actually been impressed with Les Lionceaux since Renard took charge, they’ve played some decent football. The 3 draws he’s picked up at home have all been against fairly decent teams, they were very unlucky not to beat Bastia a couple of weeks ago. Reims meanwhile, I always maintained had a false away record which was finally exposed at St Etienne on Saturday (0-4). Their tactical gameplan in that match wasn’t too bad actually, but they defended hopelessly from set pieces. Their heads also dropped massively as soon as they fell more than 1 goal behind which was rather worrying. I fancy Sochaux to win and I’m going to back them here. I rate them to be a half decent side (despite their poor record) and this really is a MUST WIN situation. They will put all of their eggs into this basket because they know they are doomed against PSG at the weekend. Reims aren’t that good an away side, despite their record only showing 2 defeats. This will also be their 2nd consecutive away game which won’t help their cause. I’m going to take the hosts -0.5 because the -0.25 handicap doesn’t interest me in this fixture. I think there’s a lower % chance of a draw occurring in it compared to normal. If the scores are level with 10 mins left then Sochaux will GO FOR IT and gamble everything to win. So because they could end up losing if they commit too many forward, it makes sense to stake less on a -0.5 line than more on a -0.25. Prediction: Sochaux 2-0 Reims Recommended bet: Sochaux -0.5 @ 2.25 4/10 Evian – PSG The hosts are unchanged for this fixture but still miss a number of offensive players. They’ve looked pretty toothless recently without the likes of Berigaud, Barbosa, Ehret and Benezet and its unlikely they’ll pose much of an offensive threat in this game, except maybe from set pieces. PSG have Thiago Motta injured, whilst Alex and Lavezzi are rested out. This isn’t a problem though because PSG have such a massive squad. Some rotation could take place, if anything just to freshen up the side. PSG only have Sochaux at the weekend which is hardly an important fixture. They should easily beat Les Lionceaux so can fully focus on tonight’s clash. Everyone is presuming PSG will win this match easily and a lot of logic points in that direction. PSG are on fire at the moment. They haven’t just been winning games, but been battering teams by big margins. It’s really difficult to back against them at the moment but sooner or later they’ll slip up and lose concentration. They’ve been known to be lazy in the past, although even I have to to admit that recently they’ve shown very few signs of letting up against anyone. They have to be classed as an elite European team these days, such is the quality in their squad. So do Evian have any chance at all tonight? Well first of all they have to hope PSG aren’t focusing properly and are off colour a bit. If PSG are fully motivated and in the mood then Evian don’t have much of a prayer. But at least they have home advantage in their favour and the Evian pitch in Annecy is never particularly pleasant. No team really likes to travel here, especially on a cold midweek winter’s night. PSG aren’t really built for this type of football so some of the players might sulk. But the gulf in class is so much that it might not even matter, especially if PSG get ahead early. I won’t bet on this game because I just don’t fancy the handicaps. I think PSG will win but they are ‘due’ a closer game so I’ll predict the visitors only win by a 1 goal margin. They can’t claim blowout wins against everyone and who knows, this might be a potential trap game. But at the same time, if they won something like 4-0 again, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise haha! Prediction: Evian 1-2 PSG Recommended bet: None
