Of course they will want to win it and win it well so that Sachin goes out with a bang in his 200th Test match but this series is rapidly become a bit of a circus rather than a cricket series and when we get to Mumbai the sideshow could hit fever pitch. While everything is going on around the game the Windies might just nip in and ruin the party. It only takes a Chris Gayle blitz or an inspired burst from Tino Best and India will be under real pressure. At 9/4 it could pay to take the West Indies or draw double chance here. Re: India vs West Indies - Test Series Top India Series Batsman preview: 2pts S.Dhawan Top India Series Batsman 3/1 Ladbrokes Shikhar Dhawan is a seriously good cricketer and he’s another Indian in good form. I love watching him bat. He bats with a class that we don’t see much of in the game these days. He has shots all round the wicket and can play seam and spin equally as well. When he doesn’t have to go on the attack I think he looks even better and opening up the innings we know each time India bat he will bat. That’s a big advantage so the 3/1 on him to top score for the home side in these two matches looks fair enough. Re: India vs West Indies - Test Series Top WI Series Batsman preview: 2pts D.Bravo Top West Indies Series Batsman 7/2 Stan James The last time West Indies toured India Darren Bravo had a wonderful series and I see no reason why he won’t go well again here. We saw in the Champions League T20 recently that he’s in good touch and he can play well against both seam and spin. Batting against spinners is what can let the Windies batsmen down but that isn’t the case with Bravo. He’s a class act and at 7/2 he’s worth a few quid in this market. Re: India vs West Indies - Test Series 1st Test preview: 4pts K.Powell (+5.5 runs) to beat M.Vijay (1st Inns Only) 5/6 Ladbrokes Until we see the wicket it is hard to know how this match will play out, especially with the circus that has surrounded this series. One bet I do like before the toss though is for Kieran Powell to stay within 5.5 runs of Murali Vijay. Kieran Powell has the potential to be a good player at the top of the order for the West Indies and is a perfect foil for Chris Gayle. Four of his five highest Test scores have come in Asia so he enjoys the slower conditions and with a half century in the warm up match he’s got runs under his belt. That’s something Vijay doesn’t have. Vijay has only played once since the Champions League T20 and he only scored 14 and 4 in that match. With runs behind him Powell can stay within five of his opposite number if not beat him. Re: India vs West Indies - Test Series 2nd Test preview: 4pts S.Chanderpaul Over 31.5 1st Inns Runs 5/6 Ladbrokes While all the attention will be around Sachin and his 200th and final Test match we shouldn’t forget that it is Shivnerine Chanderpaul’s 150th game and he’ll be looking to celebrate the milestone in style himself. With an extra batsman likely to be employed by the visitors for this match we can expect more support for Chanderpaul who made a couple of 30s in Kolkata. With more batting support we should see Chanderpaul at the crease a lot longer so I expect him to go past 31.5 in the first innings.
