Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Tournament preview: 1pt ew M.Davis to win Shanghai Masters 66/1 Bet365 Mark Davis can’t be heading to Shanghai in any better form. He won the Six Red World Championship a couple of weeks ago and he took some big scalps in that tournament too. He then won an invitation tournament last week beating Neil Robertson in the final for the second tournament in a row. That shows Davis is in good nick and after a couple of years of knocking the door down this could be the week the Sussex man finally lands a true major title. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Quarter previews: 2pts M.Fu to win 2nd Quarter 6/1 Paddy Power Marco Fu is a man who has been in good form this year and I always like his chances in any tournament in China. Unlike some of the Chinese players he isn’t one who feels the pressure to an adverse effect and although he’s in a tough section of the draw here it is one which he can come through. Fu has already won the Australian Open this year and he made the final of a PTC event as well so he’s clearly in good form and looks good value to come through here at 6/1. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/shanghai-masters-betting-marco-fu-can-reach-at-least-the-semi-finals-in-shanghai 1pt D.Gilbert to win 4th Quarter 25/1 BetVictor This could be the section which could open up the most. Ding isn’t convincing in China and Robertson’s form must surely end soon? One man who is improving who could be a dark horse is David Gilbert. Gilbert has reached the semi final of a tournament this season with a win over Stephen Maguire along the way and he’s also got a win over Judd Trump on his CV this season too. He wouldn’t face Robertson until the quarter final so the 25/1 chalked up on him could be value this week. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Monday first session TV Previews: 4pts S.Murphy vs Y.Delu - Over 7.5 frames Evs Paddy Power I would be surprised if Shaun Murphy doesn’t come through this match but I’m not convinced he’ll have it all his own way. Yu Delu isn’t the worst player and the hot and humid conditions should be just to his liking. Murphy has played in the last two weeks so he should have his eye in which makes him a fair favourite. I think he’ll win but not before we’ve seen an eighth frame. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/murphy-vs-delu-betting-yu-delu-can-give-murphy-problems-in-the-first-round 3pts X.Guodong vs Y.Siyun - Under 7 frames 6/5 Ladbrokes I think Xiao Guodong will come through here without too much fuss. He is a good player and he’ll be inspired by wanting to do well in the tournament. He’s been around long enough now to have gotten used to the bright lights and the cameras while it could well take Siyun a few frames to acclimatise. By the time that happens Guodong could be away and gone so I’d be surprised if we see seven frames here. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Monday second session previews: 4pts J.Higgins (-2.5 frames) to beat M.Dunn 4/5 Coral John Higgins should come through this match and I think he’ll come through a little easily too. Mike Dunn is an experienced player but he won’t have been under the TV lights too often nor will he have been in the heat and humidity of China for a while either. Higgins showed last year here and indeed in the Wuxi Classic earlier this season that he can still play well in these conditions and I’d expect him to come through no worse than 5-2. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/higgins-vs-dunn-betting-defending-champion-can-begin-his-defence-with-comfortable-win 4pts R.Day vs L.Ning - Over 7 frames Evs Ladbrokes I think this will be one of the closer matches in the wildcard round. Ryan Day needs to make sure he approaches this professionally else he could be upstaged here. It is wrong that he effectively has to qualify twice let alone that he takes on a competent player who has plenty of experience in wildcard rounds. Lu Ning is good enough to push Day all the way so I expect 8 or 9 frames here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/day-vs-lu-ning-betting-lu-ning-can-take-ryan-day-into-the-latter-stages

Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Tuesday morning previews: 3pts N.Robertson (-3.5 frames) to beat W.Yuchen 5/4 Bet365 I’d be surprised if this is anything other than a comfortable match for Neil Robertson. He has been in sublime form this season and while Yuchen will be buoyed by his win over Joe Perry he will still need to improve dramatically on that effort to live with the Australian here. I’d be surprised if the wildcard wins more than one frame here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/robertson-vs-yuchen-betting-neil-robertson-should-ease-into-the-second-round-in-shanghai 4pts M.Davis to beat A.Carter 5/4 Stan James With everything that is going on and has gone on with Ali Carter in recent weeks and months I think Mark Davis has to be the call for this one. He probably would have been regardless of form but when you factor his recent form into the equation then he looks a very good thing at odds against. Carter will be game but if he’s short of his best, and you’d have to think he would be, then this could be a step too far. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Tuesday second session previews: 3pts J.Trump (-2.5 frames) to beat M.Holt Evs Unibet Normally I would think this might be a close match but with Holt low on form coming into this week I think Trump might come through this a bit easier than he perhaps normally would. Trump has been slow to get into his gear this season but he was a finalist in this tournament last year so he has good memories of the surroundings and can put that to good use to fashion a comfortable win here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/trump-vs-holt-betting-judd-trump-can-see-off-michael-holt-in-shanghai-opener 3pts M.Fu (-1.5 frames) to beat C.Yupeng Evs Boylesports I like Marco Fu this week and I think he’ll come through this match relatively unscathed. Cap is a dangerous opponent and we’ve seen in the past that he can beat the top names but he’ll need to play a lot better than he did in the wildcard round if he is to win this. Fu is one of the form players of the season so far and he should come through here with a bit to spare. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept You're welcome mate :ok. Wednesday early previews: 4pts S.Maguire (-1.5 frames) to beat X.Guodong 5/6 Ladbrokes I think Maguire will be too good for Xiao in this match. Xiao was on easy street really in the wildcard round and while that will have given him time to get his cue arm oiled it won’t have too much of an impact on this match. Maguire is a much more solid matchplayer than he used to be and rare loses to anyone below him in the rankings. He can mop up the chances he’s given and win this no worse than 5-3. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/maguire-vs-guodong-betting-stephen-maguire-can-end-xiao-s-hopes-in-shanghai 4pts K.Wilson (+2.5 frames) to beat S.Bingham 8/11 Stan James While Stuart Bingham should win this and probably will win this there’s nothing to suggest Kyren Wilson won’t make this a struggle for him. Wilson has a win over Shaun Murphy in a PTC to his name this season so the boy can clearly play and he can win at least three frames here if not the five he needs to progress. Wilson on the handicap looks a good play to me. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/bingham-vs-wilson-betting-kyren-wilson-can-keep-enhancing-his-reputation-by-running-bingham-close

Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Wednesday afternoon previews: 3pts M.Selby (-3.5 frames) to beat L.Shuai 5/4 Coral Lin Shuai did magnificently to come through the wildcard round but this is a whole different level. Mark Selby is playing excellent snooker this season and even though Shuai has had a match on the tables I can’t see him winning more than a frame in this one. He needed plenty of chances to win frames against Higginson and he won’t get them here. Shuai may sneak a frame somewhere but that’s about it. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/selby-vs-shuai-betting-mark-selby-can-cruise-into-the-second-round-in-shanghai 3pts D.Gilbert to beat D.Junhui 5/2 Stan James I often like to oppose Ding in China and that’s no different here. You don’t beat Judd Trump, Stephen Maguire, Mark Williams and Ding himself already this season like Gilbert has if you can’t play this game. He clearly can and given that he’s had a tune up match coming through the wildcard round already this week I think he’s in a good place to upset the home crowds and send Ding packing. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Thursday morning previews: 3pts M.Davis to beat J.Higgins 7/4 Bet365 Mark Davis has beaten John Higgins three times in the last nine months. He beat him in the UK Championship, World Championship and then a couple of weeks ago he beat Higgins 6-0 in the Six Red World Championship. Higgins can never be discounted in the bigger events but it seems as if Davis is becoming his bogeyman so at the prices the Englishman looks decent value to beat Higgins for a fourth time in nine months. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/higgins-vs-davis-betting-mark-davis-can-continue-his-good-run-over-higgins-in-shanghai 4pts M.Holt to beat M.Gould 5/4 BetVictor Michael Holt was very good against Judd Trump and a repeat of that performance should give him every chance here. I don’t think there’s a great deal between these two at the best of times so at odds against Holt is the call here. He is clearly in good touch and has been knocking on the door of a big tournament for a while. With the draw opening up that can be here starting with a win in this one. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Thursday afternoon previews: 4pts S.Murphy vs D.Junhui - Over 7.5 frames 4/5 Paddy Power This promises to be a great match and it shows the strength of snooker at the minute that this is a second round match when it could easily be the semi final or the final. If Ding performs like he did in the first round he will probably win but we can’t trust that yet. Either way these two are closely enough matched to suggest we’ll see at least eight frames here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/murphy-vs-ding-betting-match-of-the-second-round-can-be-as-close-as-it-looks-on-paper 4pts N.Robertson (-2.5 frames) to beat M.King Evs Skybet These two met in the Wuxi Classic earlier in the season and Robertson won 5-0 on that occasion. This might not be quite that easily as King carries a bit of momentum but I do still think Robertson will win with a bit in hand. The Australian is probably the player of the season so far and is showing no sign of his form running out. I think he can win this no worse than 5-2. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Friday morning QF previews: 4pts K.Wilson vs M.Holt - Over 7.5 frames 4/5 Paddy Power I think this will be a close quarter final. Wilson is playing some lovely stuff this week but Holt showed in the second round that he has plenty of heart and plenty of fight even when he isn’t playing his best stuff. Wilson might also panic near the finish line in what is the biggest match of his career so there is plenty to suggest we’ll see at least eight frames in this quarter final. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/wilson-vs-holt-betting-two-men-in-rare-quarter-finals-can-produce-close-tussle 4pts M.Davis (-1.5 frames) to beat X.Guodong 10/11 William Hill Mark Davis is cruising through the field at the minute and as long as he doesn’t suffer a ‘Lord Mayors show’ performance then I would expect him to come through here just as comfortably. He shouldn’t have any delayed effects from his win over Higgins because that was his fourth over the Scot in recent times and he didn’t have to produce his best to win. Xiao’s had a good run but I sense it will come to an end here. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Friday afternoon previews: 4pts N.Robertson to beat D.Junhui 8/11 Paddy Power Ding will have all the support and he’s good enough to beat anyone but I like Robertson in this match. The Australian is in the best form of his life which is saying a lot considering what he has already done in the game. You can tell he’s confident just by watching him walk around the table. He’ll know he has to play well here but I expect him to prevail. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/robertson-vs-ding-betting-neil-robertson-can-beat-the-local-hero-in-the-quarter-final 4pts M.Selby vs B.Hawkins - Over 7.5 frames 5/6 Ladbrokes This looks like a very close game on paper. Hawkins is winning frames in one visits while Selby has shown all his battling qualities so this has all the hallmarks of a match which could go all the way to a deciding frame. At the very least I expect to see eight frames because neither looks like running away with this one. I can’t call the winner but whoever wins I think it will be 5-3 or 5-4. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Semi final previews: 4pts M.Holt to beat X.Guodong Evs Boylesports Nerves and tension will surely come into play in this semi final. Both are appearing in a semi final for the first time and both have a good opportunity to make a final too. Experience might be key though. Although this is Holt’s first major semi final he has won a couple of PTC events so that could be crucial should this get tough. I’ll just side with him in this opening semi final. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/holt-vs-guodong-betting-michael-holt-can-seal-a-place-in-his-first-major-final-in-shanghai 4pts B.Hawkins to beat D.Junhui 11/8 William Hill Hawkins looks a big price to me in this match. He has a good record over Ding and is clearly playing some excellent snooker. Ding has coped with the home pressures well so far this week but now he’ll be expected to win the title and that adds an extra dimension to it. There isn’t a great deal between these two on form this week so I’ll take the big looking 11/8 on Hawkins in this one. Re: Shanghai Masters 16-22 Sept Final preview: 5pts D.Junhui (-2.5 frames) to beat X.Guodong 4/5 Boylesports Nerves will play a big part in this final I think and I would expect Ding to settle down the quickest of these two. If that happens then there is the danger this final could get away from Xiao rather quickly. Ding is experienced in major finals and while he hasn’t won as much as he would like in China he’ll know this is an excellent chance to win a big Chinese title and I expect him to win this final with a bit to spare.
