England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series

After the fairly low key Ashes series England and Australia finish the first half of their extended battle with a 2 match T20 series followed by a 5 match ODI series. They also play Ireland and Scotland in sole ODI's as warmups to the ODI series. All of the matches (except Scotland vs Aus) are live on Sky so this should be a good series and a chance to see a few new faces. Schedule: [TABLE=width: 630]

Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series Series previews: 2pts L.Wright Top England Series Batsman 6/1 Stan James I’m not one for betting on a two game series in terms of the series outcome but I do like a top England series batsman and that man is Luke Wright. Wright comes into this series in good form having smashed a mighty hundred for the England Lions last week which he followed up with another one in Sussex colours. He will have faced all these bowlers in the Big Bash so at 6/1 he’s the call here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/england-vs-australia-t20-series-betting-luke-wright-can-shine-for-england-in-the-t20s 2pts D.Warner Top Australia Series Batsman 7/2 Bet365 In this market it could well pay to play safe. We know Dave Warner will open and after his faux pas of early on this tour which brought about a nice rest we know he’s not going to be rested at any time in this series. We know he’s a very good T20 player and he looks at his best when he’s attacking. There should be no reason on these two grounds why he can’t attack so Dave Warner looks a fair bet at 7/2 for an opener who is expected to play both matches. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series 1st T20 preview: 4pts Over 35.5 boundaries 5/6 William Hill Until we know the Australian side it is hard to bet on this match but whichever 11 Australia put out there will be powerful batsmen and quick bowlers. With that in mind I like the look of over 35.5 boundaries in this match. I don’t expect the boundaries to be massive in this match because there’s a women’s game earlier in the day. We’ve seen recently how good the wicket at the Ageas Bowl is when there were over 400 runs in Hampshire’s quarter final there. This should be another run fest with a stack of boundaries. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series One more for tonight. 4pts J.Faulkner's Performance Pts - 24&Over 4/5 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. James Faulkner impressed on his test debut and he should go well in this format. He is much more accustomed to this format of the game and as a death bowler and a big hitting batsman he should be involved enough in the game to cover a 24pt target. Given that he'll bowl at the death there should be the opportunity of a cheap wicket or two but we saw in both innings of the test match at The Oval that he can bat and bat well. While he won't be fielding close to the bat, in this form of the game everyone in the field has catching potential so this line looks way too low for such a good all round cricketer.

Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series 2nd T20 preview: 4pts Over 9.5 6s 5/6 William Hill We saw a stack of sixes in the first match on Thursday and I see no reason why we won’t see plenty more in this match. Once again we can expect the boundaries to be in a bit with the women’s match here before the men get their turn and as the wicket will have two matches on it, it should be a good one. Both sides have plenty of hitters in their ranks and I’d be surprised if we don’t see at least 10 sixes here. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series I've taken Shane Watson for MOTM at 11s with Bet365. T20 is the ideal stage for a player like Watson who will bat in the Top 4, bowl 4 overs and smashes it with the willow. He's played 37 T20's Internationals and has 8 MOTM performances in those games. We saw in the last test how damaging he can be with the bat and even if he only gets a middling score, as long as nobody else plays big there's a good chance he can come home on the back of a couple of wickets.

Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series England To Beat Australia 2.10 Paddy Power Australia are over valued here in my eyes. I have been thinking alot about this game the past few days and I really like England here to level the series. The pitch at Durham should not be such a featherbed for the batsman compared to that of the Rose bowl and when I take a deeper look into the first T20 you have on one side Australia whose domination in that game could all be put down to just one man namely Finch. Looking at England who also managed to eclipse the 200+ mark I feel they had a decent all round effort with the bat and in general I still believe they actually have the better batting lineup overall in this format. If Finch cannot repeat his heroic effort of the 1st game I can see England winning here and winning well.

Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series Good call WP :ok. Ire/Eng preview: 4pts E.Joyce to beat P.Stirling 5/6 William Hill William Hill have priced up an interesting match bet ahead of this game. They have Ed Joyce matched up with Paul Stirling but I would expect the Sussex skipper to win that. He is a quality batsman at any level and while Stirling may get off to a flyer the chances are he’ll push his luck once too often and against the pace England are going to fire at him I don’t think he’ll come off for long. Joyce is a technically superb batsman who is capable of long innings and he can outscore the Middlesex man here. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series Two more for the Ireland vs England game. 4pts Ireland (+4.5 wickets/44.5 runs) to beat England 5/6 Sportingbet Ireland look to have a big handicap here. Although they are inferior to England's top side I'm not convinced they are as inferior against this weakened England side. Ireland have already given Pakistan a bit of a going over this summer and that Pakistan side is a good side as we saw in the West Indies. Ireland have a good bowling attack with Tim Murtagh and George Dockrell in it and a batting line up which can score against most attacks. Even if they don't win the game, there's no reason why they can't make a real game of it, especially with conditions likely to suit them nicely. England are missing some top players which can see Ireland more than competitive in this one. 2pts G.Ballance Top England Batsman 5/1 Paddy Power Gary Ballance only has this match to prove himself in England colours but he is in good form in one day cricket and I think this is a chance he can take. He is ready for England honours now and with an ODI series down under later in the year there is a plane seat to book with a good performance here. This is very much a makeshift England batting line up but the good thing about Ballance is he can attack the seamers and the spinners and he can pace an innings brilliantly. With Morgan out of form and the likes of Taylor, Carberry and Wright making rare appearances there's the chance for someone and it can be Ballance who takes it.

Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series Series preview: 1pt R.Bopara Top England Series Batsman 12/1 Bet365 Ravi Bopara comes into this series in excellent form. He has just blasted his first ODI century against Ireland earlier in the week and he was in good form for Essex too. He was arguably England’s best batsman in the Champions Trophy earlier in the summer and when these two sides met in an ODI series last year only Ian Bell outscored the Essex man and he isn’t in the squad for this series. Australia have enough in their attack to get Bopara in regularly and at 12/1 he looks value to top score in what is likely to be a shortened series. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series Top Australia series bat preview: 3pts S.Marsh Top Australia Series Batsman 9/2 Stan James I’m a big Shaun Marsh fan and I think he can go well in this match. He will have encountered most of these conditions in his spell as overseas player for Glamorgan last season and like Finch he splattered Scotland to all parts earlier in the week to give him some confidence. While Finch and Watson are likely to go mental with the bat, Marsh will be the one who looks to back the innings through, something he’s capable of doing and over the course of this series I think he can be the one to top score for the tourists. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series Top England series bowler preview: 2pts J.Tredwell Top England Series Bowler 11/4 Bet365 James Tredwell is certain to play all the matches in this series, unless he gets injured, and with the way the wickets have been so far this summer he should go well too. Tredwell is a steady eddie who doesn’t let anyone down and will take wickets, as he has throughout his England career so far. Although he is the favourite at 11/4 we are sure of getting a full output from the Kent captain so I like the look of him in this market. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series 2nd ODI preview: 4pts R.Bopara's Performance Pts - 35&Over 5/6 Bet365 Ravi Bopara goes into this match in good form. He hit a ton against Ireland last week and when he played on this ground for Essex a couple of weeks ago he hit a blistering 130 so he looks to be seeing it like a football right now. He is over his recent injury and so he can bowl and there’s always catching chances so I think his performance line of 35pts is well within reach for the Essex man. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series 3rd ODI preview: 4pts R.Bopara's Performance Pts - 39&Over 5/6 Bet365 Ravi Bopara covered his performance target in the second ODI and I see no reason why he won’t cover his line in this third match albeit at a line 4pts higher than on Sunday. His line is 39pts which he should still cover with an average game with bat or ball. A good game with either should yield more than 39pts too. With England only playing three specialist bowlers, Bopara is going to get through plenty of overs and with his quality with the bat too 39pts looks well within reach for the Essex man here. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series They shouldn't void if the line is covered. It is in their rules that a bet that has already won or lost is settled accordingly.....

Player Performance These markets use a points based scoring system to determine their outcome. The point schedule is as follows: 1 point per run, 20 points per wicket, 10 points per catch, 25 points per stumping. Stakes refunded on non-selected players. In One Day matches both teams must face at least 40 overs each, otherwise bets void, unless settlement of bets is already determined.

Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series 4th ODI preview: 4pts S.Watson (-1.5 runs) to beat J.Trott 5/6 Ladbrokes One bet I like in this match is for Shane Watson to outscore Jonathan Trott. Trott seems to have been found out a little bit by Australia. They are targeting him straight and feeding him with short balls and he doesn’t look very comfortable, especially to Mitchell Johnson who has an excellent angle at him. Shane Watson showed in the T20s and the final Test match that he’s in good nick and I think he can outscore Trott in a format which suits the powerful Aussie. Re: England vs Australia - T20 & ODI Series Final ODI preview: 4pts Over 48.5 boundaries 5/6 William Hill We’ve seen all summer long that the wicket at the Ageas Bowl is a very good one for batting. Hampshire have struggled to take wickets there all season and records have tumbled in the international matches on this ground this summer too. I think we’re going to see plenty of runs in this match and with that we should see plenty of boundaries. Both sides bat deep and both lack depth with the ball so expect a boundary feast here.
