World Matchplay - 20-28 July

Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July You have one dart at a double. No less than Phil Taylor is already on a double, I think he's entitled to think he'll only get one dart at a double so he set up his favourite double. I see no problem with that. He can't go 16/D16 on 48 because his dart for the 16 would cover the double and he's no more certain to hit 8/Tops with all the moving round the board than he was 20/D14. Wade throwing for a 10 rather than the 170 checkout is a completely different situation.

Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July Friday night previews: 4pts A.Hamilton vs A.Lewis - Over 13.5 180s 5/6 William Hill One thing both these men do is score heavily so I expect to see a barrel load of 180s in this match. The two produced nine in 13 legs in the European Championship earlier in the month and I expect plenty of legs here so I would expect to see at least 14 180s between two men who both know where the lipstick is. Two lesser scoring quarter finals both saw this line covered on Thursday night and the opening match on Friday can cover it too. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/hamilton-vs-lewis-betting-180s-should-flow-with-two-heavy-scorers-on-show 4pts M.van Gerwen vs D.Chisnall - Over 15.5 180s 5/6 Stan James This should be a fast and furious match and like Thursday’s two quarter finals I expect it to have plenty of 180s. Both these men know their way to the red bit. Van Gerwen hasn’t hit the 180s which he can do so far this week but they usually come by the bucket load in the latter stages of tournaments. Chisnall is a 180 machine so we should see at least 16 180s here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/van-gerwen-vs-chisnall-betting-the-180s-can-come-in-big-supply-in-last-quarter-final

You have to play the percentage shots and take into consideration the times you WILL get another go. Then you look pretty stupid sat on double 7, which is what happened on this occasion. Do you think going 20, double 14 wins him a higher percentage of legs than going 8, tops for example? I don't. That's down to a matter of opinion and a bit of percentage/statistical work. The one I'd hope you'd agree IS indefensible was his throw at treble 20 with 78 and one dart left. There's NO WAY you should be looking to leave 3 darts at a double which doesn't split when you have a chance (treble 18) to leave one which splits twice (double 12.) That WAS amateurish and inexcusable. Fair enough perhaps with two darts in hand but not with one.

Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July Yeah that T20 on 78 was silly but I'd imagine it was nothing more than a combination of frustration and a miscount. Neither should happen but it is easy for us to say when we're not the ones sweating our nuts off having our arses handed to us in the cauldron of the battle. Pipe is one of the most professional players there is though. He's a little green on stage still but this time next year he'll be contending majors I've no doubt about that. He's too good not to, as his floor results show.

Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July 4pts A.Hamilton Vs A.Lewis [Over 14.5 180's] 1.80 >Bet365 2pts A.Hamilton [Most 180s in the match] 2.60 >Bet365 Andy Hamilton has been very solid so far in this tournament and I think he can spring a result here. I will keep it tighter though and have a bet on the 180's. Both of these 2 hit alot of 180's. So far in this tournament Hamilton has hit 9 in his 2 matches & Lewis has hit 8. I do think Lewis is going above the 60 bed alot recently but he is still hitting alot of 180s so I'll also go for the Hammer to get more of them.

Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July Adrian Lewis to beat Michael Van Gerwen 11/4 betfair (sportsbook) *bet refunded if Lewis loses averaging over 100 up to £100. This match has the potential to be the best of the tournament giving the players fast throwing styles and the impressive form both are in at the moment. The value in the betting without doubt lies with Lewis here, the pace of the match will suit both players and Lewis tends to go up a gear against MVG. Although he was beaten in the World Championship Quarter Final in December he had had match darts and produced one of his best performances for a long time in that encounter. In the Premier League it was 1-1 in the head to heads between the 2 and Lewis got the better of Van Gerwen 11-8 at the European Championships 3 weeks ago in Germany averaging just over 100 then going on to win the tournament seeing off Whitlock in the final. Lewis showed great fighting spirit last night to comeback against Hamilton and will take confidence from that. MVG can miss doubles at times and I'd expect Lewis to match him closely in the scoring stakes giving him plenty of opportunities in this match. It should be close but at the prices Lewis is the value bet for me.

Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July Double; Adrian Lewis +3.5 @ 1/1 James Wade +4.5 @ 10/11 Both these matches are close run affairs, and despite my head telling me Taylor and MVG win, I can make valid cases for the opposite. The odds on MVG and Taylor are way too short, so im playing the handicap for abit of added security. For this to come in its at worst 17-13 to Taylor and 17-14 to MVG. I cant see anything but close encounters here, all 4 are up for it and Lewis plays his best stuff against MVG time and time again. Taylor gets into Wade's head abit, but Wadey has been good this week. The double pays near 3/1.

Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July Semi final previews: 5pts A.Lewis vs M.van Gerwen - Over 18.5 180s 4/5 Skybet This could be an absolute classic. If it is half as good as their semi final in Germany three weeks ago then it will be one of the best matches Blackpool has ever seen. That semi final in Germany had 19 legs and 17 180s and I expect plenty more 180s here in what I see as being a close semi final. The danger is that Lewis is a bit flat after an incredible effort on Friday but he’s up for this and I think he’ll go well enough for there to be enough time to get 19 180s. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/van-gerwen-vs-lewis-betting-the-treble-20-is-going-to-get-battered-in-blackpool-semi-final 4pts J.Wade (+5.5 legs) to beat P.Taylor 5/6 BetVictor Taylor has had a couple of battles to make it this far and it might be that he’s a bit jaded from those battles going into this match. Even if he isn’t I would expect Wade to stay within five legs of him but if Taylor is slightly below his best then Wade could easily win this match. The last four TV matches between these two have been very tight and I see no reason why this won’t be either so Wade with the 5.5 leg start is the call here. Unlucky if you don't get this kev, those earlyish bounce outs definitely affected van gerwen's decisions. Should have sailed over. edit/ since I started writing this theyve hit like 6, nice call kev haha.

Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July Final preview: 4pts A.Lewis Over 10.5 180s 4/5 Paddy Power I think this will be an epic final. I don’t think Lewis will back down and I think we’ll see him bring every last piece of quality out of Taylor. Over this distance there is enough time for plenty of twists and turns and plenty of Lewis 180s. His individual 180 line is 10.5 and that looks very low to me. He has hit 13 and 16 in his last two matches and will need to power the scores in here to have a chance of the title so I’m confident we’ll see at least 11 maximums from Aidy here. Re: World Matchplay - 20-28 July Phil Taylor -3.5 legs to beat Adrian Lewis 10/11 bet365 Last night we witnessed a very impressive display from Adrian Lewis in defeating Michael Van Gerwen averaging 102 and having a 40% checkout success rate in the process. I would expect tonight to be different though now that he is playing Taylor who is a lot slower than MVG. Lewis has averaged 87,97 and 96 against Huybrechts, Dolan and Hamilton respectively who all have similar throwing speeds to Taylor. Taylor however has averaged 103,103,104 and 108 in his matches against Kellett, Jenkins, Pipe and Wade. If Lewis averages under 100 tonight it is hard to see him push Taylor to the very end in this length of match. In the 2011 Grand Slam the pair met in the semi finals with Taylor winning 16-9 with Lewis putting on a very impressive display in the process including a perfect 10 darter (one bounce out). It is no coincidence that Taylor has won the last 5 matchplay titles at Blackpool and he should have enough in hand tonight to see Lewis off by more than 4 legs.
