robertob
Re: Sea The Stars - Sons and Daughters on The Road to Greatness Smarty, what you make of STS's first runner over hurdles today? Starchitect in the 2.20 at Bangor! Sold for 110k from Eddie Lynam after finishing runner-up in maiden behind a subsequent winner of a listed race... that will be interesting to see how he fares. Smarty72
Re: Sea The Stars - Sons and Daughters on The Road to Greatness And another sale at the Tattersalls July Sales is Starchitect a gelding on my horses to follow list who has been sold to Donald McCain for 110' date=000 guineas. Unlikely to be seen on the flat now as NH is probably going to be his game. Not sure how he will perform, been one-paced in all his runs to date and would think that 2m to 2m 4f would be the limit over hurdles. Starchitect half brother Dubai Creek (Sire - Cape Cross) also ran twice over hurdles for Donald McCain falling on debut and then well behind on 2nd race (55l) never to be seen on the track again. Will this horse be the 1st to jump a fence by Sire Sea The Stars as hurdling surely the aim and maybe a crack at the Triumph Hurdle? Will follow this for pure interest! Mentioned this after the sale in July and indeed will be the 1st Sea The Stars to try the National Hunt game. Very interesting but have mixed feelings over this Rob! Such a shame to already see a Sea The Stars runner over hurdles and could be the first of many! I am sure that Starchitect has been well schooled over hurdles by the trainer and will put in a good performance, but would need to be a really good performance to be considered for top juvenile races this year. Quite a big investment and obviously connections have high hopes of success to spend such money at the sales. Not sure Sea The Stars stud owners Gilltown Stud (Aga Khan) are too pleased with this as they will not want Sea The Stars to be a NH sire success although the current fee puts him out off the NH price range. Would love to see Starchitect win and gone on to some success! HTF 2014 (Jumps Special) 14.20 Bangor - Starchitect - Win @ 10\11 PP BOG Was a HTF on the flat and makes his debut over hurdles as a 3yo Juvenile. Smarty72
Re: Sea The Stars - Sons and Daughters on The Road to Greatness Need to update performances and results........ From Saturday 20th September..... Debut Runner 19.50 Wolverhampton - Sea Of Heaven - Win @ 14\1 >Bet365 BOG 2yo gelding making debut for Sir Mark Prescott stable for owner/breeder Lady Bamford. Full brother to sister By Jupiter (3yo) who has made a very modest start to racing with 7 races with just one 2nd and one 3rd and a best RPR of 75. Dam is Maid Of Killeee who's best offspring was Indian Ink a group 1 winneras a 2yo of the Cheveley park stakes and the Coronation stakes as a 3yo. Shame to see this horse gelded before even making the track and trainer does not have a good record with FTO runners. Likely to be seen at best when gaining a handicap mark after 3 average runs then stepped up in distance for handicap debut which would be the typical MO of the trainer. Ran like a typical Mark Prescott debut runner sent of at SP 28\1 and 9 lengths behind the winner. Best to ignore until getting handicap mark. From Sunday 21st September..... Debut Runner 13.55 Gowran Park - My Twinkle - Win @ SP >PP BOG Gentle introduction and sent of at SP of 8\1 to finish 5th. Sure to improve but only RPR of 64 on debut and not one for future at the moment. From Monday 22nd September...... HTF 2014 14.30 Leicester - Viceroyalty - Win @ 5\4 >PP BOG 3yo Colt running for Goldophin with Charlie Appleby the trainer. Adam Kirby has the ride today. Viceroyalty has run twice so far making his debut at Brighton on the 1st of September with a modest performance to finish 3rd over 12 lengths behind the winner with a RPR of 67. Improved on next run when 2nd at Epsom again over 1m 2f on 11th of September with a RPR of 81 which was just good enough to qualify for the Horses To Follow (HTF) list. Step up in distance to 1m 4f should be no issue and any improvement in performance should be good enough to win this maiden. Viceroyalty is the 2nd foal of dam Argentina (Sire - Sadler's Wells). Favourite at SP of 11\8 and finished 2nd, 9 lengths behind the winner. Not an improved performance and given a RPR of 78. Remains on the HTF list but in danger of been dismissed as simply does not look good enough. Could win a weak maiden on the All Weather though. From Thursday 25th September......... Debut Runner 18.45 Kempton - Mobhirr - Win @ 7\1 >PP BOG A very interesting 3yo colt making his debut today in a 1m 4f class 5 maiden. Trained by Marco Botti he will be wearing cheek pieces for his debut. Dam is Silent Heir but more importantly her sire is Sunday Silence who dominates Japanese racing from a breeding perspective through been a sire, sire of sire and dam sire and dominates all the big races. Most of the top horses in Japan have Sunday Silencewithin there pedigree. Sunday Silence was also a top racehorse in America. Worth googling and spending half an hour reading all the articles relating to this great racehorse and sire! Dam Silent Heir has had 6 foals with first foal Young Pretender a group 3 winner as a 2yo over 7f. 3rd foal Rumool also won as a 2yo over 6f. 4th Foal Quiet Oasis a 1 mile winner of 2 Group races in the USA as a 4yo and 5th foal Spirited Heir a winner in Japan over 1m 1f. One doubt is that pedigree does not suggest that 1m 4f is a suitable debut distance with breeding suggesting that 1m to 1m 2f would be better suited but time will tell. A race to watch with interest later. Very disappointed with Mobhirr who finished 7th on debut at SP of 10\1 17 lengths behind the winner. Has run again since on the 3rd of October and finished even further behind over 27 lengths behind the winner. Both races at 1m 4f and could possibly be better when dropped in trip to around 1m 2f. Due to race again on Tuesday over 1m 4f at Kempton but do not expect any sort of improvement. Hopefully then get handicap mark and will be of interest on handicap debut probably dropped in trip. Not likely to be anything special. From Sunday 28th September....... HTF 2014 14.25 Curragh - Stellar Glow - Win @ 5\2 >Bet365 BOG 2yo filly steps in class from debut 2nd in the Group 3 Weld Park Stakes over 7f for fillies. Race won by My Titania last year. Was 3rd and a decent performance on 2nd start after promising debut. Best 2yo filly so far this year and gained a RPR of 97. One to continue to follow and should gain some black type in the future. SP of 10\11 backed into favourite. Bright future ahead. From Wednesday 1st October....... Debut Runner 14.20 Salisbury - Chemical Charge - Win @ 9\1 >Bet365 BOG 2yo Colt making debut over 1m. A much needed winner for the debut runners at SP of 6\1. RPR of 80 for 2yo on debut means that this colt goes on to the HTF list and is one to follow. Holds a Derby entry for next year so will be interesting to follow the progress of this horse. From Thursday 2nd October...... HTF 2014 (Jumps Special) 14.20 Bangor - Starchitect - Win @ 10\11 >PP BOG Was a HTF on the flat and makes his debut over hurdles as a 3yo Juvenile. The first winner over hurdles for Sea The Stars! SP 10\11. Watch the race if you get the chance terrible race and almost pure comedy gold with really bad jumping from all the horses! Never good enough to be Triumph Hurdle contender but did slowly seem to eventually get the hang of hurdling and finished strongly. Now been talked about by trainer as a future staying chaser! Maybe the Grand National or Gold Cup! LOL From Saturday 4th October...... Debut Runner 16.05 Newmarket - Storm The Stars - Win @ SP >Bet365 2yo Colt making debut Excellent debut to finish 2nd at SP of 12\1. No RPR yet but goes onto the 2yo colt's list of HTF. Just headed on the line by an Irish raider from the Coolmore gang. From Sunday 5th October....... Two for Sunday at Longchamp for the HTF 14.45 Longchamp - Hadaatha - Win @ 9\1 >Bet365 BOG 15.30 Longchamp - Taghrooda - Win @ 6\1 >Bet365 BOG Hadaatha ran a brilliant race to finish 3rd in the Group 1 race just 1/2 a length behind the winner. Hope this one stays in training as a 4yo as looks to have a big future improving with every run. Could turn up on Champions Day at Ascot for the group 1 Fillies and Mares. Big chance. Taghrooda also ran a great race in the big one the Arc De Triomphe to finish 3rd behind Treve who was sensational to win the race for a 2nd race running. Last time we have seen this filly on the race track and what a good racing career she has had! Oaks winner and King George Winner and then 3rd in the Arc.
