Re: Austrian Darts Open 31 May - 2 Jun One outright for me this weekend. 1pt ew J.Caven to win Austrian Darts Open 40/1 Skybet (1/2 1-2) Jamie Caven arrives in Vienna as the form man having won both Players Championship events last week where he averaged just a few ticks under 100 for the entirety of one of the tournaments. I had a feeling Caven would go well this year and having done it on the floor his next step is to do it on the stage. He was a semi finalist in Dusseldorf a couple of weeks ago so he is getting used to performing on the stage now and with Taylor, Lewis and Whitlock not travelling this weekend and all being out of his half of the draw then Caven has a decent draw now. Michael van Gerwen is the danger man but he is in the other half of the draw so at 40/1 I think Caven is well worth each way support to continue his excellent form of the last fortnight.

Re: Austrian Darts Open 31 May - 2 Jun Another outright for this tournament. Will hopefully get involved in the matches from now on too. Wanted to take this pre-tournament but amazingly nobody had him priced up :wall. More than happy with this price though. 1pt ew J.Klaasen to win Austrian Darts Open 100/1 Stan James (1/2 1-2) Jelle Klaasen has been away from the scene for a bit for reasons which were well enough documented that we don't need to go into them but he is back and he's already back with a bang. Klaasen made the final of a Players Championship event last week where he lost to Jamie Caven but there is no shame in that this season. On his way to that final he beat Mervyn King and Peter Wright and gave Gary Anderson a walloping 6-1. Perhaps the most surprising thing about Klaasen's resurgence is his much slower, solid style which he has come back with. His old rat-a-tat one was way too erratic but I like the look of his new throw and wouldn't be surprised to see him go even better than he did before his enforced sabbatical. After the shocks of the opening day Jelle couldn't ask for a better run to the semi final. He takes on Tomas Seyler in the second round before a potential meeting with Paul Nicholson or James Wade in the last 16. If he gets past that then he'll face one of Steve Beaton, Kevin McDine, John Henderson or Andy Smith in the quarter final so a semi final spot certainly isn't beyond him. He isn't in MVG's half of the draw either so he looks a very big price given the draw he has. Klaasen has a bit of time to make up for in his career and he can start to do that this weekend.

Re: Austrian Darts Open 31 May - 2 Jun 3 for this afternoon. 4pts K.McDine to beat S.Beaton 6/5 Skybet Kevin McDine is playing well this weekend and one thing we know about him is he is never short of confidence and belief so he should be bang up for this game. Steve Beaton has hit a lot of 180's this weekend so far but he has still only won his two matches 6-4 and 6-5. McDine has beaten two very good players in Justin Pipe and Andy Smith, both 6-3, and he's done it with heavy scoring and good finishing and a tournament average of over 96. McDine fell away a bit over the last couple of years for one reason or another but these European Tour events are lucrative and he could propel his career right back to where it was with a couple more wins this afternoon. That motivation can be key and I'll take him to win this. 3pts J.Cullen to beat R.Barneveld 5/2 BetVictor Joe Cullen is another who has been going very well this weekend. In his win on Saturday against the in form Stuart Kellett he won 6-1 with an average of over 110. I don't care what your name is that's good arrers. That performance followed up a win over Kim Huybrechts in round 1 where he was in the late 90s too. Barney hasn't been at his best this weekend. He was taken the distance by Alcinas in the first round before a more comfortable win over Kevin Painter on Saturday but his form hasn't been that which we saw in the Premier League for example and his recent heavy workload could be taking its toll. Cullen is on fire this weekend and while he won't average 110 here he should still be high enough to give Barney a game at a big price. 4pts M.King to beat D.Chisnall 5/4 BetVictor Mervyn King is always a tough opponent and he looks a big price to beat a Chisnall who can be brilliant or inconsistent and who misses doubles which is the key thing. King will probably be a bit behind on the scoring but he'll get chances to win this match so it is up to him to take them. Dave Chisnall was taken the distance in the last round by Jamie Caven and to be fair to him he came through but he'll probably need a bit more here against a Mervyn King who is always solid and consistent. King eased into this last 16 match with a 6-4 win over Jim Walker and the confidence he can get from that, and good form coming into the tournament can serve him well and give him the platform to beat Chisnall this afternoon.

Re: Austrian Darts Open 31 May - 2 Jun Going for one in the quarter finals as well as hoping Klaasen comes through the bottom half. 4pts J.Cullen to beat M.King 6/4 BetVictor Joe Cullen really is playing some good darts in this tournament and seems to enjoy Vienna having made the quarter final of this tournament 12 months ago too. He beat Barneveld earlier but he could have done it more convincingly having missed doubles to win 6-3 and 6-4 but I'll give him that as Barney on a big stage would always have been his biggest win. The fact he landed the 99 finish in the decider to break the throw speaks volumes. Mervyn King hung in there against Dave Chisnall and got the chances he probably would have expected given Chisnall's fallacy on the doubles and when he got them he took them but he didn't score all that heavily in the match and that is where Cullen could have a real advantage in this match. Cullen's scoring against Barneveld was very good and if he's crisp on his finishes the way he's played this weekend he'll be tough for King to beat.
