World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April

Recommended Posts

The qualifiers for the big one begin on Thursday with live streaming available in all the usual places. Along with the match betting there's also a few bookies pricing up the 'to qualify' market so with all the matches being over the best of 19 frames there should be a bit of cash to be made before the Crucible. Draw can be found here: http://www.worldsnooker.com/staticFiles/ac/bb/0,,13165~179116,00.pdf Format can be found here: http://www.worldsnooker.com/page/WorldChampionshipQArticle/0,,13165~3128560,00.html

Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Couple of 'to qualify' previews: 1pt P.Advani to qualify for World Championship 12/1 Apollobet One man who has had an excellent year and made a name for himself in the qualifiers is India’s Pankaj Advani and I would fancy him against Holt is he gets that far. To get that far he’ll have to beat the winner of one of the pre-main tour qualifiers, then Adam Duffy and then Mark Joyce but having qualified for the International Championship and Welsh Open already this season he’s got it in him and he’s worth a punt at 12/1 to make it a hat trick of successful qualifying campaigns. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/world-championship-betting-pankaj-advani-looks-a-big-price-to-qualify-for-the-crucible-20130405 1pt R.Lawler to qualify for World Championship 12/1 Skybet I actually think Rod Lawler is a bit of value from that section as he is very good at reducing big scorers to his level with his slow and for the want of a better word dour style. It is very hard to get any fluency and rhythm against Lawler and the quick players like Martin Gould and Luca Brecel will really find that. Lawler qualified for the Wuxi Classic at the start of the season where he beat Stephen Maguire in the main draw and lost out in final qualifiers to Fergal O’Brien and Marco Fu in two other events. At 12/1 he’s a big price to bore his way through the draw. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/world-championship-betting-rod-lawler-is-overpriced-to-make-it-into-the-main-draw-20130405

Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Monday morning previews: 3pts J.White to beat T.Pengfei 6/4 Stan James I wouldn’t be totally surprised with anything that happens here but I think Jimmy White could just be a bit of value. There’s an awful lot of pressure around these matches because everyone is so desperate to be at the Crucible so it is a big advantage to have seen it all and done it all like Jimmy has. Tian Pengfei didn’t look great in the first round and Jimmy still has the game to win matches at this level so with his experience of the longer matches he looks the value. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/white-vs-pengfei-betting-jimmy-white-looks-good-value-to-advance-in-world-championship-qualifiers-20130407 4pts T.Un-Nooh to beat G.Greene 10/11 Bet365 Gerard Greene can’t be feeling too good about his game coming into this match unlike Un-Nooh who must be full of confidence after an excellent performance in the first round. Greene comes in here lacking in genuine match practice as his last competitive match was almost two months ago. I think everything is in place for the lower ranked Thepchaiya Un-Nooh to come through this match. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/greene-vs-un-nooh-betting-thepchaiya-un-nooh-can-end-gerard-greene-s-miserable-season-20130407 4pts K.Maflin vs C.Steadman - Over 16.5 frames 8/11 Paddy Power I think this will be a close match. Kurt Maflin is a very good player but he can be guilty of going for one too many while Steadman hangs in there and toughs it out. I would ultimately expect Maflin, who has performed very well this season, to come through but I think we’ll see at least 17 frames. When these two met in Q-School a couple of years ago Steadman won 4-3 and I think he’ll keep this one close too. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/maflin-vs-steadman-betting-kurt-maflin-could-be-taken-longer-than-he-d-like-in-world-championship-qualifier-20130407

Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Monday afternoon previews: 4pts T.Drago to beat A.Hicks 11/10 Apollobet I think Tony Drago is a bit of value in this match. He has won a match this week to give him some confidence and confidence is something that Hicks can’t be having too much of given his recent set of results. Hicks hasn’t played a competitive match for a good while so he might take a few frames to get into this match and the way Drago runs up frames he could be away and gone by that time. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/hicks-vs-drago-betting-tony-drago-can-take-a-step-closer-to-an-unlikely-crucible-return-20130407 4pts A.McManus (-1.5 frames) to beat A.Mehta 8/11 Apollobet Alan McManus is the highest ranked player in this round and I think he can prove why he is ranked so high in this match. He has all the experience you could possibly need in two session matches and he can win matches with solid, if unspectacular, scoring and his tactical game is as good as many, certainly at this level. Other than having played a match this week Mehta hasn’t a lot going for him so it is McManus for me. Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Two previews for Tuesday morning: 5pts J.Swail to beat A.Duffy 6/5 Bet365 I’m very surprised Joe Swail is the outsider in this match but I’m more than happy to take advantage of that. Swail has winning momentum behind him already this week and that’s something Duffy hasn’t got. Adam Duffy’s form can’t be a fluke given that it has gone on for so long and generally when a player is out of form his best chance of getting back into form is over a shorter distance so that isn’t in his favour either. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/duffy-vs-swail-betting-joe-swail-s-renaissance-can-continue-in-world-championship-qualifying-20130408 3pts D.Poomjaeng to beat L.Chuang 6/4 Coral I wouldn’t say Poomjaeng is a certainty in this match but I do think he’s good value to get the win. He is playing well and more importantly has been playing plenty of matches recently which does give him an advantage. Liu Chuang is talented but has been guilty of not showing that talent throughout this season and if he doesn’t show it here then Poomjaeng could be the one to progress in this one. Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Wednesday previews: 4pts S.Davis to beat K.Maflin 5/4 Coral There’s no reason why this won’t be a close match but I think Davis’ experience and nous can get him through to the final qualifying round against Peter Ebdon. Davis beat Maflin in the qualifying for the Welsh Open and if he can score well throughout this match he will get the chances to win this one as well. Maflin is definitely one for the future but I think Davis can prevail here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/s-davis-vs-maflin-betting-steve-davis-can-set-up-final-qualifier-with-peter-ebdon-20130409 4pts X.Guodong (-2.5 frames) to beat J.White 10/11 Apollobet I’m sure every snooker fan would love to see Jimmy White come through qualifying and make it back to the Crucible but I believe it will be the end of the road for him here. White was poor in the previous round but got away with it but the simple fact is I don’t think he’s got the game any longer to beat someone with Xiao’s ability. I hope Jimmy proves me wrong but I expect Xiao to win this with a bit in hand. Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April 2pts Un-Nooh to beat Ben Woolaston 2.62 Coral I think the fact Un Nooh has had a few games already and is in the groove will help him here. Woolaston is a good young prospect but I've been impressed with Un-Nooh over the last few games. I would go to the handicap but I'm going to go for a win here as I'm hoping Un-Nooh can get off to a flyer and grind him down with scrappy frames as it progresses.

Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Two streamed match previews for Thursday: 3pts J.Swail to beat M.Joyce 13/10 Boylesports Joe Swail is probably a bit of value in this match for no other reason than he has winning momentum behind him this week. If Mark Joyce has had a few sleepless nights he might not be as focused as he usually would be plus he might not have had as much time to practice as he would have liked either. Swail is on the crest of a wave at the minute and that wave can continue in this match. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/joyce-vs-swail-betting-joe-swail-s-dream-run-can-continue-against-mark-joyce-20130410 4pts L.Highfield to beat J.Jones 5/4 Ladbrokes This is a long distance match which might settle Jamie Jones down and let him play his best snooker but it will need to because he has been pretty poor this season. Liam Highfield comes into this match with winning momentum behind him and we’ve seen all week that it is an advantage to have played a few matches this week. Jones should be too good for Highfield but on form and value Highfield is the bet here. Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Saturday morning streamed match previews: 4pts R.Day to beat B.Woollaston 7/10 Boylesports Ben Woollaston has had a decent season but it will all probably count for very little if he doesn’t win this match. Ryan Day’s poor season will be a distant memory if he wins this and qualifies for the Crucible, such is the importance of this tournament. With all the pressure and the tension around these matches I like experience in them for the most part and it is Ryan Day who has that and I would expect him to come through this. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/day-vs-woollaston-betting-ryan-day-can-use-his-experience-to-book-crucible-spot-20130412 4pts A.Higginson (-1.5 frames) to beat M.White 5/6 Ladbrokes Michael White will be dangerous if Andrew Higginson gets a bit loose in this match but this is the World Championship and I expect Higginson to be spot on for this and if he is he should have too much nous and experience for the Welsh youngster. White will have his moments in this match but over two sessions I expect Higginson to win with a bit in hand. Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Saturday afternoon streamed match previews: 4pts K.Doherty (-1.5 frames) to beat M.Selt 5/6 Ladbrokes This will be a nervy match with both men desperate to make it to the Crucible but I have to side with the experience here and take Doherty. He should be too good for Selt anyway but when you factor in the nerves, tension and pressure which surrounds these matches then I think Doherty’s experience really will shine through. Doherty can still score well and I think he’ll win with a little bit in hand. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/doherty-vs-selt-betting-ken-doherty-can-claim-his-place-at-the-crucible-once-again-20130412 4pts M.Davis to beat L.Wenbo 10/11 William Hill Mark Davis has had a good season and in many ways it would be harsh if he wasn’t at the Crucible. I think he’ll have too much here. He has a much better tactical game than Wenbo and he scores heavily enough himself when he gets the chance. Wenbo will score heavily but there are frames he’ll throw away by pushing the boat out and he can’t afford those so I’ll take Davis here. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/m-davis-vs-wenbo-betting-mark-davis-is-likely-to-have-a-much-better-all-round-game-than-wenbo-20130413

Re: World Championship qualifiers 4-14 April Sunday streamed match previews: 4pts D.Dale (-1.5 frames) to beat A.Burden 8/11 Ladbrokes I like Dominic Dale here. He’s a very solid player now who scores heavily given the chance and who is a good safety player. He has had a good season and with a few more favourable draws in the first round of the bigger tournaments Dale could’ve won even more matches but he has a nice draw here and I would expect him to take advantage of that and book his place at the Crucible. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/dale-vs-burden-betting-dominic-dale-can-take-his-place-in-the-crucible-line-up-on-sunday-20130414 4pts R.Milkins (-2.5 frames) to beat J.White 10/11 Coral I thought Jimmy would go out in the last round but Xiao played a horrible match against him. I don’t expect Milkins to do that and sadly I think this one will be a match too far for Jimmy. Milkins is playing well at the minute, scores heavily and has enough of a safety game to have Jimmy in trouble for large parts. Not only do I think Milkins will win but I think he’ll win with a bit to spare.
