The second European Tour event of the season takes place in Stuttgart this weekend. There's no TV coverage but there's enough coverage on twitter, facebook and the PDC websites and live scoring to get a feel of what's going on so there could be some money to be made over the weekend. Draw is here: http://www.pdc.tv/european-tour/article/1n0d1ysjc2gpj129ogu5976j5q/title/european-darts-trophy-draw-made

Re: European Darts Trophy - 30 Mar-1 Apr I'll have a go with a couple of outrights. 1.5pts ew A.Hamilton to win European Darts Trophy 22/1 Sportingbet (1/2 1-2) Andy Hamilton is in decent nick at the minute and he made the semi finals of the first of these European Tour events this season so the hectic nature of them isn't something that worries him greatly. He's playing that well at the minute that he's even able to bust 164 and that has to be noted. The bottom quarter of this draw has opened right up as Simon Whitlock has pulled out of it leaving Ian White as the main seed in it. White's a capable player but hasn't done anything in 2013 yet so I'm happy to take him on in this quarter and take him on with the Hammer who is enjoying life in the Premier League, scoring heavily, finishing well and who even had a 9 dart finish in a UK Open qualifier a couple of weeks back. Yes he could run into form horses in MVG or Thornton in the semi finals but his path until that semi final could barely be much smoother apart from maybe a hairy match against Dean Winstanley. At these odds the Hammer looks a good punt at 22/1. 1pt ew J.Caven to win European Darts Trophy 50/1 Bet365 (1/2 1-2) I never thought I'd ever type those words :lol. As it goes though I'm happy to type them and back him because he has already shown major improvement this season and having reached the final of a UK Open qualifier a couple of weeks back I think he's ready to take his form up onto the big stage. In that UK Open qualifier Caven thrashed James Wade 6-1 and we've seen in the Premier League how well Wade is playing right now. He also beat Gary Anderson before running into a red hot Robert Thornton in the final but that's good form. I have seen a couple of results which suggest 'Jabba' has been throwing averages over 100 and with the weakness of this top half that has to be respected. Caven has been practicing with Kevin Painter which is good solid work and at some point the floor form will go with him onto the big stage. If that's this week then he has the draw to do plenty of damage which makes him worth a punt at 50/1.

Re: European Darts Trophy - 30 Mar-1 Apr Taking a few on the card today. One of two of the qualifiers who played last night might have an advantage. 4pts M.Caris to beat A.Smith 9/4 Bet365 Magnus Caris looks a big price to me here. He recently beat Andy Smith in a UK Open qualifying tournament and is crazily 4-0 up on their head to head. In the UK Open qualifier he also beat Simon Whitlock so there is little doubt the Swede is enjoying his darts at the minute. He's played well for a while now and apart from losing it with the Ally Pally crowd he's always been competitive. The crowd will be no problem today so I like Caris. Andy Smith hasn't pulled up any trees this year and he's never the best on the stage so he looks ripe for an upset from the heavy scoring Caris in this one. 3pts R.Huybrechts to beat P.Nicholson 5/4 Bet365 Ronny Huybrechts is another who should have some confidence having come through the qualifying competition last night. Paul Nicholson heads to Stuttgart a bit under the weather I understand so he's ripe for an upset. To be fair to Nicholson he's been playing much better than his results have suggested but Huybrechts is a decent enough player in his own right, as we saw in the World Cup, and with his confidence from last night and Nicholson feeling a bit flat I think the Belgian could progress here. 3pts C.Finnan to beat S.Beaton 6/4 William Hill Connie Finnan is slowly making his way in the game and he has a recent UK Open win over Steve Beaton on his record. We saw in the World Cup that Finnan can hold himself together on the big stage so he's worth following here. Finnan hit a 9 darter on the circuit last year so we know he can score and he looks a big price against a Steve Beaton who is never the most consistent player going around. If the real Beaton turns up then this will be close but if he doesn't then Finnan could run away with this at a decent price. 3pts T.West to beat T.Jenkins 5/2 Sportingbet Tony West is a huge price here. He's playing well at the minute and living in Holland this tournament will suit him travel wise and conditions wise. Terry Jenkins is always a tough nut to crack but he hasn't really delivered in tournaments for a while and he's capable of mares on his doubles which in a best of 11 leg match isn't ideal. West is scoring very well, which he'll need to do here and while he should be beaten I don't think he's a 5/2 shot to win in a match which should be tight throughout unless there is a load of missed doubles from one of them. At the prices I'm prepared to take Jenkins on here. 3pts J.Bowles to beat B.Dolan 6/4 Sportingbet We saw what John Bowles can do in the World Championship when he had that epic with Gary Anderson and if he's anything like in that sort of form here he has every chance. We know Bowles enjoys the big stage from that tournament and he's comfortable on it. Dolan has made a career of flattering to deceive away from Dublin and there's nothing to suggest that will change in this tournament. Dolan is always ripe for an upset as he's never the most consistent and Bowles certainly has the game to beat him. 4pts M.Smith to beat D.Chisnall 7/4 BetVictor Not many players are in better form than Michael Smith right now. Smith was a finalist in a recent UK Open qualifier and he is into the World Youth Championship final having hit a 9 darter in qualifying so he's flying at the minute. When he scores heavily he can be very hard to beat because he doesn't score heavily for one or two legs, he sustains it for matches. Dave Chisnall won the opening tournament of the year but he's done nothing since then and given his tendency to miss doubles the heavy scoring Smith will get chances in this match. At 7/4 I'll back him to take enough of them to win this match with the confidence he must have right now.

Re: European Darts Trophy - 30 Mar-1 Apr John Part v Ronnie Baxter AS i said in a previous post john part has been in very good form of late and he has so far contiued in this event with a convincing win over van de voort and good win over the inform Robert Thornton which if you go off the reports was ment to of been a top class match with john part missing a lot of doubles to better the final score, if he can get his doubles right i carrt see him having a problem beating Baxtor Part win 8/11 paddy power
