Re: Doncaster weather and ground Friday n Saturday

15 mile north of course and it is swimming pools everywhere. Don't know what drainage is like there.
Down to -4 or -5 Tonight,,,That will only make it Gluey, Then Snow forcast. This may not stick, But the amount that is forcast, Must be a severe doubt, if the meeting goes ahead, Loads of Non Runners I suspect.

Re: Doncaster weather and ground Friday n Saturday l live a stones throw from the track. It rained moderately for about 20 minutes earlier and it's been overcast most of the morning (to be fair, i've only been up a couple of hours as im on nights but it dint sound like it was raining at all heavily whilst i was in bed) The snow that was forecast hasnt materialised and it doesn't look like it will be doing anytime soon as it's reasonbly bright just now. There was what could only be described as a boating lake on common ground just off course (just after the home turn) for most of the jumps season but that doesnt appear to be there now every day when i drive past. l presume that's the effect of the new drainage put in place. Soft, heavy in places at worst imo. Since the track/course/grandstand etc was renovated 6 or 7 years ago l dont recall ever seeing the word heavy in the going description so if it was to be described as heavy throughout id be amazed.

Re: Doncaster weather and ground Friday n Saturday Clerk of the course Roderick Duncan said: "We are forecast quite a bright, dry day today and we have got bright sunshine this morning and improving temperatures. "The problem tomorrow is snow and how early it is going to come in. At the moment we are forecast possible light snow showers before midday, then a break, with somewhere between two and eight millimetres. We will be OK with a dusting of snow. "It's just a case of what volume we get. The heavy snow is not due to kick in until after racing. Based on the forecast there are reasons to be hopeful racing can survive on Friday, but it is difficult to be optimistic for Saturday

Re: Doncaster weather and ground Friday n Saturday Im gonna stick my neck on the block here. If racing is abandoned at Doncaster on Saturday then during the live broadcast Simon Mapletoft brings ATR at about midday i'll be seen 50 yards in the background tugging myself off with a punters lounge is full of homo's t shirt on!

Re: Doncaster weather and ground Friday n Saturday Weather reports saying snow/blizzards early tomorrow morning in rush hour, snow all day long. I can't see it being on Saturday and depends when it starts snowing bad on Friday as to whether it goes ahead then. Plans already in place to have 1st meeting next Saturday on 30th, would suit me better as City are at home on Saturday so I'll miss the Lincoln meet but if rearranged we're home Good Friday so I could make racing on the Saturday - Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Just not too much though, concert on Saturday night.

Re: Doncaster weather and ground Friday n Saturday

Still snowing so another check @ 10.00 AM for Newbury (wouldnt hold much hope)
Despite passing an initial inspection first thing, Newbury will now check again at 10am. The track had light snow overnight but it has become heavier and officials have decided to look again in a few hours. There is still hope. 2/5 it will, Betfair. Beware The IDES of March...If we are only left with Southwell.

Mapletoft is at Southwell but no sign of you yet. Make sure the t shirt is pink so you stand out. :p
