  • 3 weeks later...

Overs is priced very high for this game and I doubt whether Paris are getting enough respect for how attacking they are. In French league teams just put 10 men behind the ball against them but Barcelona will give them the chance to play that free flowing style. Barcelona should have conceded against Milan no doubt about it and they have pretty much conceded in every game they have played all season. I expect both teams to score here and over 2.5 at almost evens is a huge price.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April PSG are tight at the back, the stats from the group stages and the fact that they have only conceded 20 in 30 matches in Ligue 1 is probably the reason the bookies are warm on the unders. Ancelotti knows the story in Europe and he will be lining them up with keeping Messi under control as his prime objective seeing as Pedro is suspended. Barca would be happy to take a 0-0 back to the Camp Nou, I can see this one being a boring encounter myself. Unders at 2.00 for me.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April 3pts Barcelona to win by 1 goal 11/4 Ladbrokes I think this will be a tight first leg between two big clubs. Barcelona will have learnt a lot from their first leg defeat in AC Milan in the last round and I’m sure they will make sure they don’t suffer a repeat in this game so PSG will have to play to their limits to win this match. Of course they have the attacking personnel to get something from this game but I fancy Barcelona to show their class and take a narrow lead back to Spain with them. Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April Draw 29/10 @ Bet365 - Barcelona are a bit too short for me here at 8/11. PSG are a good side no doubt about it. Barcelona's away record in the knockout stages of the Champions League in the last 5 seasons has been W3 D6 L4 which is surprisingly bad for such a great team. Those 4 defeats were against Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea and AC Milan and i would say that PSG are on a par with AC Milan so i don't think Barcelona should be so short here. Ibrahimovic will be available for the game tomorrow which makes a huge difference as he is their main threat along with Pastore, Lucas and Lavezzi who are all top players on their day. PSG are very good defensively conceding just 5 goals in 8 Champions League games this season. Barcelona have not been at the top of their game in the past couple of months while Vilanova hasn't been in charge. I don't think Barcelona will go all guns blazing here and they would happily take a draw to the second leg. As stated previously, Barca do not have a great away record in the knockout stages of the Champions League and they don't deserve to be as short as 8/11 away to PSG who have some quality players and i think this will end up all squar, probably 1-1.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April I dismiss Barcelona to win today. I pick double chance on PSG for odds of 2.25. First of all, Ancelotti is a CL knockout phase specialist. Second of all, I havent seen improvements in Barca defensive game. Victory against Milan was a result of Allegri's negative tactics. Difference in quality is on Barcelona side, but that is not enough today. PSG will be dangerous from corner kicks, especially Thiago and Ibra, and i think Ancelotti will try to use this weakness against them. Motta is a blow for PSG but they have players capable of covering his absence. I prefer seeing man-to-man game today and not many goals.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April Im expecting a tight game here, and I think the PSG defence can stand up against Barca. I also think PSG can hurt the Barca defence if Lucas is back in play (as the reports are saying). But Im expecting two carefull teams in the first half and my first bet is 0-0 in halftime at 3.25

PSG will not be open to allow Messi and co and stroll through so they will be looking to stay in this tie without conceding more than a goal here. Barcelona are short on a few players which evens this game up, and they will be looking to finish them off at home in the second leg when they hope to get these players back. Doubt that they will go out too hard but will look to ensure that they are in a very good position for the second leg.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April Barca always have some problems defending free kicks and corners. this of course isn't strange with defenders like mascherano, alba and Alves. so as i funbet i will put some money on strong headers of psg. like thiago Silva, sakho and Alex if hè will play. silva to score odds 16 alex to score odds 13 sakho to score odds 23 all with betfair

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April I think Barca are way too short here at 1.87. They are playing a team who are very strong at home with an experience Champions League coach (Ancelotti). And PSG's recent CL record is better than Barca's ... http://uk.soccerway.com/matches/2013/04/02/europe/uefa-champions-league/paris-saint-germain-fc/futbol-club-barcelona/1460513/?ICID=HP_MS_02_01 Bearing in mind Barca's superior squad and experience, With the home leg to come, I think Barca will be very happy with a draw here. I would make them favourites, but only slightly. No way they should be anywhere near 1.87 imho. So there is value in opposing them. PSG +0.5 2.12 188Bet

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April Pick: To Get a Card, Zlatan Ibrahimovic @ 2.80 Unibet I wonder low kick or a high one from the ninja boy. Zlatan is a very "dirty" player, in terms of attitude on the field, arrogance and sometimes very brutal fouls. I cannot see a very fairplay playing from "the samurai" tonight against his former club, FC Barcelona! Ibra to get a card

I tend to get the CL wrong a lot :lol but PSG probably need a lead to take to the Nou Camp as, despite their improved stature in the game, they're still quite inferior compared to Barca. They have made some good signings, and appear to have made decent strides in Ligue One and the CL. But I'm not getting carried away here. Inter and Milan in recent times have pulled off great results against Barca but PSG may be punching above their weight slightly, and Ancelotti is going to have to pull off one of the best results of his career. Not conceding goals in Ligue One is easy too, as long as you sign the right players, with the weak offensive play in France, I personally don't see it as a demonstration of how effective they are defensively. Barca will test them more.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April Just in case, might be handy: PSG: Sirigu; Jallet, Alex, Silva, Maxwell; BECKHAM, Matuidi; Lucas, Pastore; Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi. Barcelona: Valdés, Alves, Mascherano, Piqué, Alba; Sergio, Iniesta, Xavi; Villa, Messi y Alexis. I think Beckham there is a very smart move from Ancelotti. This means that Ancelotti will employ a direct play, forcing Beckham to deliver long passing to the big four up-front. A smart move to bypass the first line of pressure by Barcelona. This also means that PSG will give the control of the ball to Barcelona. I am expecting something like 30/70 35/65 in terms of possession. And I agree with Derek as well. This can be a very different game from what the majority would expect. I really believe that Unders 2.5 and Unders 3.5 is a very valuable bet. PSG are quite strong defensively, at home. Since 1st January, PSG played more than 10 games at home, and never conceded more than 1 goal per game. Barcelona are in inconsistent form in away games since January, and still have the shocker in Milan quite fresh in their mind, so they won't take many risks and expect to grab a 0-1, 1-1 to finish it at Camp Nou. Another good bet is BTTS, but I would close the bet (on Betfair) if PSG scores first.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April I also like the chances of cards in this match. So far in CL, Referee Wolfgang Stark has averaged 6 per game including 8 in the PSG group game away to Dinamo Kyiv. In last years CL he only gave out 15 in 4 matches but interesting for me was 7 in the game involving Barca. He also shows a (ever so) slight trend for handing out more cards as tournaments progress. I also think PSG know they will have to get at Barca to have any chance over 2 legs so we could see some borderline tackles as they look to assert some dominance at home (and theatrics from the opposition won't hurt !). Not sure how the yellow card tallies stand or if anyone is in threat of missing the 2nd leg (or do they start with a clean slate) so if anyone could add some info on this would be helpful. But I like the over 4,5 cards at 1.92.

FT: 2-2 Bet won :ok I only saw the last 15 minutes, but from what the pundits were saying, a draw seemed a fair result.

Re: Paris Saint-Germain v FC Barcelona > Tue 2nd April The under should have come in. Ibrahimovic's offside goal in the 79th minute should not have counted, and barcelona wold have been content with a 1-0 scoreline. Even if PSG equalised later on, then both sides would be satisfied with the result and doubt either side would have pushed on for a second goal
