Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 Chesham United away at St Neots Town (21/10 BetVics, Bet365) The win at Hemel sounds a touch dodgy - a very late turnaround while Hemel had ten men for the last half-hour. But the truth is Chesham were the better side throughout, bar the opening few minutes when Hemel scored. Regulars here will know how this thread has been documenting the changes at Chesham in the run up to Christmas, and they have been producing better results (though they do have a distinct defensive frailty at times). I was opposing St Neots in the antepost threads but they had a pretty good autumn. Lately, though, they've been losing more of the talented side that got them this far and they are relying on raw talent to take them forward. Ollie Thorne is the latest to go, and they missed his industry at Redditch on Saturday. The forward pairing of Craig Calver and Ben Mackey is very good, and they will score goals, but they've just one win in 12. Chesham's form - four wins out of five and 17 scored - is much healthier and I really think the prices should have these two sides sharing the favouritism. Anything over 6/4 about Chesham is value.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 Barwell at home to Gosport Borough (Evs widespread) Back in the antepost thread, I was reckoning the title was a straight fight between Barwell and Leam. Well, I've been half right so far, but Barwell are still tucked into a play-off slot. Their home form has been poor for a side going for promotion, with three wins in the last eight home matches. However, those three have come in the last four: they were well beaten by Leamington, but took the scalps of Cambridge C and Stourbridge. They were poor at home to Hitchin at the weekend on a heavy pitch, but did enough to win. Gosport are still missing Justin Bennett (honeymooning) and Adam Wilde has been out injured too, although with Sammy Igoe and Brett Poate in the ranks they are not lacking in experience. The unbeaten run is long and their defensive record is superb - three conceded in nine - but they have been a bit fortunate to keep it intact and Barwell offer a more robust physical challenge than most of the sides around them. I think there is a touch of value in the price.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 Ships - there's another Ryman fixture tomorrow night that a) wasn't in your OP and b) the bookies don't have it flagged-up on oddschecker. Wingate are at home to Lewes and I'm interested in the price on Wingate. Odds against East Thurrock away to Hastings might be worth a closer look.

True enough - there's also Leiston/Met Police, which hasn't made it to Odds-comparison yet. Neither Bet365 nor BetVics have priced these up yet. I'm quite interested in Enfield Town tomorrow - they should be closer to Cray in the betting as the home side are missing skipper Mark Willy, who has been excellent in recent weeks, and of course Tyrone Sterling (now at Dover and MoM on Sat). Both had good games in that costly win at Hastings (costly for me, anyhow). Enfield are unreliable betting material, but 3s is too far out.

I've been to most of Enfield Town's home fixtures this season (and a good few last) and I also took in their recent away defeat to Carshalton. You're a brave man backing them. I got speaking with Steve Newing (ETFC manager) on Saturday as he took in the Wingate match. Nice guy, but his hands are tied and his financial resources are thin on the ground. That being said, on their day, they're capable of putting in a performance. But they were extremely poor against Bognor and downright dire against Carshalton. McGleish is a class above at this level and Kirby in defence plays with his heart on his sleeve, but they've got a couple of players that look out of their depth in the RPL. I'm fairly certain that there'll be goals in this match, but as always, it's who'll score the most.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 Agreed, LondonH. For me it's a question of value. If this was the Cray team that faced Hastings, I wouldn't back Enfield at 3s. But the first three names on the Cray team sheet that night would probably have been Willy, Sterling and Leigh Bremner. Two will be missing tomorrow and I'll have an investment in Enfield Town at 3s.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 I´m expecting a big performance from Halifax at Dartford on Wednesday night, in the first leg they went down to ten men after approx 20 minutes, but continued to dominate the game, went 1-0 up and then had a goal which many claim was good, ruled out for offside. Dartford were poor, and no doubt will offer a lot more at home, but i expect Halifax to go down there and have a real go at winning the match. Danny Gardner is getting close to full match fitness now and is starting to boss games, he won´t be at Halifax for long, he´s far too good by all accounts. 3/1 is very tempting, does anyone have any insight on Dartford?

Dartford are off their early season highs - injuries and loss of form have taken their toll, and these days there's a definite defensive weakness despite some very capable personnel - clean sheets are rare. In midfield they have some very hard-working players and plenty of options - if they're chasing a game or holding onto a lead they have the people to do that. But they are still missing Elliot Bradbrook, I think, and they haven't looked as clinical as an attacking force without him, and they're also without the departed Harry Crawford as well. They started with Nathan Collier up front against Mansfield, so maybe they were resting Jacob Erskine for this game, perhaps accepting that the Trophy offers them more chance of progress given that they'll struggle to make the playoffs. At home, they have been very strong - their commitment levels have got them out of some sticky situations. I suspect they'll be right up for this. From a betting point of view, it's a tricky one and not a match for me, although I might be persuaded over 3.5 is a decent play - both sides will be going for it.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 Surprising drift of Farnborough to Evs at BetVics at home to Bath City. Bath have been better away - it would be hard not to be after some abject home performances against an off-the-field backdrop that is having an effect on the team, and things are pretty downbeat there at the moment. Farnborough have their own ongoing problems but are performing well at home and even with the loss of keeper Craig Bradshaw injured, and of Scott Donnelly from midfield, they are a decent price to prevail. Bradshaw's replacement - Jamie Norris - has got some game time under his belt against Salisbury (when Bradshaw was sent off) and against Tonbridge (where he was carried off).

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 3 bets for me tonight and they are all best price with BetVictor and all in the Blue Square South. Dorchester put in a superb effort at Welling on Saturday to only lose by the odd goal in five. Their home form is pretty strong whereas Basingstoke have a woeful away record having only won once on their travels and they were beaten 4-1 at Havant on Saturday. 23/20 looks on the big side about the home team. I agree with Ships about Farnborough. They had a great result at home last week by beating leaders Salisbury and even managed to win away on Saturday. Bath are poor travellers and it looks a home win which is now a shade of odds on. Final bet is not surprisingly Weston-Super-Mare at home to Eastleigh. Granted we aren't getting the fancy price we got on Saturday on Sutton to beat Eastleigh, but I have to take them on again especially as Weston are pretty solid at home. 13/10 is the price.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 Dorchester Town will be without captain Mark Jermyn for their crunch match against fellow strugglers Basingstoke Town tonight. The Hampshire side visit The Avenue Stadium with only Truro City below them in the Blue Square South league table.

    [*=center] DorchesterTown v Basingstoke Town

The Magpies are only one point ahead of Basingstoke - level with three other clubs on 28 points. Tonight's six-pointer could see the Dorset side leap up to twelfth place with a win. Dorchester played well against high-flying Welling United on Saturday, only to be denied by a late Ross Lafayette goal. The points are all-important tonight as the Magpies hope to move away from the drop zone. Dorchester will be without the services of Jermyn, who is missing after injuring his ankle - and missed Saturday's game. Basingstoke's biggest goal threat is likely to come from Delano Sam-Yorke who has bagged eleven goals in his side's Blue Square South campaign. The Magpies will be confident of a win after knocking Basingstoke out of the third qualifying round of the FA Cup in October. From the Web

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 Tuesday night’s two goal hero Scott Donnelly has left ‘Boro, securing a transfer deadline day switch to Blue Square Bet Premier title chasers Newport County. Donnelly signed for ‘Boro following his departure from Aldershot Town in mid January, and it was always believed it would be a short term arrangement as he looked to secure a move higher up the pyramid, he played in three matches during his short spell with the club, the highlight being his brace which saw off league leaders Salisbury City at Cherrywood Road earlier this week. Upon departing Donnelly said “It has been short and sweet and I am really grateful for Spencer and Farnborough giving me the opportunity to get some football, the club has a good squad and I have really enjoyed my experience.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 I´m losing faith in my Halifax as a good value bet suggestion above, with several players being ineligible, coupled with a couple of fresh injury doubts, they are unlikely to have a full bench tonight, they are down to 12 fully fit eligible players, with a couple who might recover from knocks. They can still put a good team out so I wouldn´t be rushing to oppose them but the bench will be weak.

Enfield romped home at 3/1 to cover the failures' date=' though I didn't really deserve to break even.[/quote'] A very comfortable victory for ETFC against an extremely disappointing Cray Wanderers. If the truth be known, 1-5 flattered Cray as the Cray keeper, Walker, made umpteen saves that gave the scoreline some sort of respectability. Cray's goal was a free-kick that went straight through a disorganised wall. I think that was there only effort on target in the full 90 minutes. Jesus - it was cold last night!

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 What about the Worksop Town v Frickley Athletic tonight? Worksop score on average 3 at home and concede 1,5. In away games, Athletic score 1 on average and concede 3. Athletic are also 0 0 11 in their away games. It's like they field a different team when they play away. How about a Worksop -1 @ 2.40? Is it a good bet?

Man for man, though, Worksop are much the stronger side.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Feb 4-6 Good news for Halifax Jon Worthington and Jason St Juste both make the bench, both first team regulars, and the starting 11 is the same as last week. Halifax can do this with that bit of luck. Not sure what the top price is, but for me anything about 5/2 is a good price. Commentary on Radio Kent, livebetting on Bet365.
