Football Gambler
Australia are a best price of 2/7 to win the best of 3 series. Siddle and Hilfenhaus fit to return, Phil Hughes back in the line up to replace Ponting, think Aussies should wrap up a comfortable series win, but no value at 2/7. Best price for 3-0 is 9/4 and 2-0 is 5/2...... think with those prices I will just be trading the individual test matches instead.

kevshat
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series Series preview: 4pts Australia to win 3-0 9/4 Ladbrokes With Sri Lanka’s bowling attack looking quite tame I think Australia will win this series and win it well. Clearly we’re not going to get rich backing them at 2/7 to win the series though so instead it is better off taking a correct score. I like the look of 3-0 because I just don’t see Sri Lanka taking 20 wickets in a match. There is possibly a danger that they might draw a game but I expect Australia to be dominant in this series and with that I’ll take them to win all three matches. kevshat
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series Series top bat previews: 2pts P.Hughes Top Australia Series Batsman 7/1 Stan James Philip Hughes hasn’t got the best technique in the world but his technique shouldn’t be a problem in this series with Sri Lanka’s attack unlikely to square him up or anything like that so this should just come down to what’s between Hughes’ ears and the improvement he’s made over the last 12-18 months I’d suggest he doesn’t have too many troubles there. Make no mistake about it Hughes is in excellent form. He scored a barrel load of runs for Worcestershire in the summer and has continued in that form for South Australia in the Australian domestic summer. If he doesn’t suffer from being back in the international stage I think the 7/1 on him to top score will look very big come Sydney. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/australia-vs-sri-lanka-test-series-betting-phil-hughes-can-celebrate-his-return-to-the-side-by-top-scoring 2pts T.Dilshan Top Sri Lanka Series Batsman 9/2 Stan James I like Dilshan in this series though. One thing the Australian’s struggle with is a counter attacking batsman. They have had problems with the likes of Sehwag and Gayle for years and Dilshan is in that mould. We saw in the last test against South Africa when Amla and de Villiers were enjoying themselves that Australia sometimes struggle for an answer and if Dilshan can get going he’ll get away from Australia pretty quickly. At 9/2 he looks good value to top score in this series with his confidence high after coming in here off the back of a ton in the warm up match. kevshat
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series 1st test preview: 2pts S.Eranga Top Sri Lanka 1st Inns Bowler 5/1 Bet365 Eranga has a bit about him in Sri Lankan conditions so he should go a lot better in Australian conditions and he was easily the best bowler in the warm up match last week. I think Sri Lanka will struggle for wickets in this series but there’s no reason why Eranga can’t chip in with a few. Rangana Herath is unlikely to get much joy in this series, especially in the first innings so the 5/1 on Eranga looks decent value. kevshat
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series Just these two in the first test..... 1st test preview: 2pts S.Eranga Top Sri Lanka 1st Inns Bowler 5/1 Bet365 Eranga has a bit about him in Sri Lankan conditions so he should go a lot better in Australian conditions and he was easily the best bowler in the warm up match last week. He bowls well to left handers which is a help when taking on this Sri Lankan batting line up but he also goes well to right handers too and he can pitch the ball up and swing it or when there's no assistance in the air he can get it chest and throat high with the short balls which the Sri Lankan batsmen won't like. He may not get the new ball but that's fine because when he does come on the Sri Lankans could be looking to release some pressure by having a dip at him. I don't think 3 wickets is too much to ask here given that Nathan Lyon should be close to redundant given how well Sri Lankans play spin so at 5/4 I'll take Siddle to get 3 in the first dig. kevshat
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series 2nd test preview: 4pts P.Siddle's Performance Pts - 121&Over 5/6 Bet365 Australia should win the match but the bet I like here is Peter Siddle to cover a performance total of 121pts or more. Siddle has been Australia’s best bowler this summer and he took 9 wickets in the Hobart test match which accounts for 180pts. I don’t expect him to take 9 wickets here but with Starc rested he should get the new ball with Hilfenhaus injured so there’s no reason he won’t take 5 or 6 wickets on his home ground and then get the other 1-21 with runs and catches. Big Alf
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series I'm going to have a lay of Australia here @ 1.6 with WBX I think the probable loss of Clarke along with Starc and Hilfenhaus is going to be a big pshychological boost for the Sri Lankans. I can't see them pulling off a win here but would rather play it safe and keep that on side than straight backing the draw. Johnson is bound to be a little rusty after two months out and who knows what we wan expect from Bird. I cant see SL threatening to bowl Aus out for a competetive total but they did show in the first test they are able to restrict them to a low run rate. The pitch and the weather wont provide the bowlers with as much help as in Hobart and I think this could see SL at least hold out for a draw. kevshat
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series Two for me for tonight's test. 2nd test preview: 4pts P.Siddle's Performance Pts - 121&Over 5/6 Bet365 Australia should win the match but the bet I like here is Peter Siddle to cover a performance total of 121pts or more. If Clarke is ruled out then he could see more batting time which would be a bonus but he'll still get a decent amount of catches behind on a wicket which will have plenty of carry in it as we've seen in the Big Bash. Wade scored 138pts in Hobart despite a couple of missed chances for further points and I note since then that Michael Clarke has said that Wade will bowl more in matches to come :loon. It's not very often we get someone with four methods of scoring but that appears to be what we have here. Having scored 138pts in the first test I'm confident enough we'll see 90 in this one from Australia's wicket keeper.
Crouch Potato
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series Ed Cowan MOTM @ 21 Sportingbet I think this is potentially good value. I expect Australia to win, and save for maybe a Herath hat-trick I can't see any SL player nabbing this with Sangakarra out. Australia should win easily and as one of the highest priced Aussies I like Cowan. Firstly, Watson, who is always in the top lines is out, and they've replaced him with Mitchell Starc. This means Australia will have 5 front line bowlers, making it harder for any of them to dominate the wickets. This, I feel, increases the odds of a batsman winning MOTM, and Cowan has shown decent form (2x 50, 1x 36 in last 4 innings) without the big score. I think that might come in this test, and being an opener for a team who should win easily, I think 21 is too high.
kevshat
Re: Australia V Sri Lanka Test Series Couple for me in this test. 4pts Australia (-130.5 runs) 1st Inns Lead 5/6 Sportingbet This line still looks a bit low on the Aussies because Sri Lanka have definitely lost their best batsman in away conditions in Kumar Sangakkara and they might well have lost another solid batting option too in the form of Prasanna Jayawardene who surely can't play with a hairline fracture in his thumb. Kulasekera can hold the bat down the order too and he looks like he isn't playing as well and as if that wasn't bad enough their top bowler in this series Chanaka Welegedera is ruled out of the match too. Australia have sacrificed a batsman with Watson not fit but they've strengthened their bowling attack and while Australia may not wrack up 500 or anything daft like that the chances are they won't need a lot more than 350 if Sri Lanka's batting on this tour so far is anything to go by. All the talk is a bit of grass on the wicket which will suit the Aussie quicks and I expect them to get rid of this Sri Lanka batting line up quickly enough for Australia to take a strong first innings lead. 4pts A.Mathews Performance Pts - 85&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. With all the injuries Sri Lanka have had going into this match Angelo Mathews becomes a major player for his side. He will bat up at number five in the order in all likelihood and he will bowl a lot more overs, in conditions which probably suit his bowling more than the first two wickets in the series have. Mathews has shown he likes conditions in Australia in the shorter forms of the game and in this series he has shown he likes them in the longer format too as he has covered this 85pt line in both the test matches so far. I think Mathews will go well with the bat on this wicket which traditionally doesn't bounce as much as Hobart or Melbourne and with his extra bowling on top I'm confident he can cover 85pts again.
