Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 I think that's a great shout on the Scorchers outright and have followed in on that. They have a good solid 1-11 and as we have often seen in these T20 comps a good solid all round team will always outlast a couple of superstar big hitters or wicket takers. Have also topped up on the Strikers outright. Don't understand the drift on them based on the result the other night and like the Scorchers, given their solidity as a unit and how deep down they bat, 11/1 is a huge price. Obviously that means I will be looking at the Scorchers to do a number on Brisbane tomorrow. It's already a crunch game for the two teams and I think their experience could see them through a scrappy game. Few stats - Heat have only won 2/5 games at the Gabba. Scorchers beat the Heat by 10 runs last year. All nine matches this year have been won by the side batting second!!!! Finally as a side bet I have just taken 54/1 on Gibbs top bat for tournament. If the Scorchers do go deep into the tournament then he will need to start swinging the lumber at some point. Has 54 runs so far.

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Tuesday preview: 4pts Perth Scorchers to beat Brisbane Heat 6/5 Bet365 As I’ve mentioned throughout the tournament so far Brisbane use too many all rounders for my liking rather than genuine specialists. One specialist they will have here is Kemar Roach but Marsh and Gibbs might just appreciate the pace on the ball so that could be a specialist which doesn’t work in the Heat’s favour. For me the Scorchers are the better side with the bat and the ball and I would expect them to come through here. Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Tough one to call tomorrow but I Really like the look of Melbourne tomorrow at 11/10, see no reason at all why they should be outsiders in what I see as a 50/50 contest so I see some value there for small stakes. Not really my sort of bet but the line on total 4's is 24.5 @ Ladbrokes. The grass at Melbourne Docklands has long been criticised for being like concrete and I think with the number of 'shot' players in both squads compared to outright big hitters anything with a bit of bat on it is going to fly to the boundary.

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Wednesday preview: 4pts Hobart Hurricanes to beat Melbourne Renegades 4/5 Ladbrokes I think the Hobart Hurricanes are the better side of the two here and if they can play the Renegades’ trio of spinners properly then I would expect them to come out on top in this match. They have the more powerful batting line up and the bowlers to do damage to the likes of Finch and Samuels early on. Even at a shade of odds on I think the visitors are the call here. Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 I like Hurricanes too, a very balanced side of big hitting, complimented with economical bowlers and energetic fielders. Also I think if they can get Samuels and Finch early it is pretty much game over barring someone else stepping up more so than they have in the first 2 games. However I'm going to step back tomorrow and just enjoy what should be a very entertaining game. I do see a couple of things worth highlighting though at big prices for a more casual bet. The last 4 matches at this ground in the Big Bash have yielded top individual scores of 111,72,73 and 99 and with a 6's line upwards of 13 I think a century isn't quite as out of the equation as it normally would be. Especially with the batting lineups on display with at least 6 players capable of scoring a ton. - Will a Century be scored (yes) 12/1 - Bet365 seems overpriced so worth a cheeky punt I think. The second bet I like is with PaddyPower. They are offering Hobart Hurricanes Top Bowler and I think they have overlooked Michael Hogan when pricing this up and going with the names rather than the current performances. Hogan has 3 wickets with an economy of 6.50 better than Doherty (who is also yet to take a wicket) and far far better than Bollinger who has been frankly awful this tournament and I expect Finch to go after. Only Laughlin has taken more with 4 but going for alot more runs and a bowler Melbourne are more likely to go after I think. Krejza so far hasn't made an appearance I see no reason for his inclusion in this game unless they are expecting a real turner. So 9/2 Hogan Top Hobart Bowler for this match seems overpriced again.

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Thursday preview: 4pts Sydney Thunder to beat Adelaide Strikers 6/5 Skybet I think this match is all about the Thunder batting line up. It can only be a matter of time before it fires with the talent that is in it and when it does I expect them to start winning cricket matches as they have the bowling attack to defend totals or keep opposition to low totals. Chris Gayle is clearly the key and generally when he comes off in a match his team wins so I think the odds against on the Thunder in this match could be worth taking in the hope or belief that Gayle, or the Thunder batting line up start to fire here. Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Wasn't a great wicket for a T20 but to be honest Hobart gift wrapped their wickets. Apart from Paine who got a corker from Rimmington. It seemed hard to get set but once you were it got easier i.e Finch and a score was possible (even if you're robbed of the biggest six I've ever seen) I still think Hobart have alot of to offer with such a strong team, they just need to learn a bit of wicket preservation and better shot selection. I agree that looking at the 2 teams Sydney Thunder do not justify being 6/5. Adelaide without Ajmal, Lyon and Hughes is quite a weak team on paper and the form Nannes has been in which is nothing short of exceptional, can compliment what should be a very strong batting line-up for Sydney. Although they haven't performed yet, I think like Perth they will start to come good here with a bit of pace on the ball. The only real unknown quantity for me is Shaun Tait for Adelaide in his first squad this season. If he clicks Sydney could be 4 or 5 down after his spell and in real trouble. If he doesn't Sydney could be looking at 55-60 runs in the first 6 overs and well on their way to 180-200, which for me is the more likely tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how he holds up though, an exciting cricketer. Either way if Gayle for Thunder and Pollard for the Strikers can both get going this could be the match of the tournament!

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Going to have to go against the grain here and go for the Strikers, and I think the 1.9 available at Betfair is a very reasonable price Granted we all know what Gayle is capable of but having hit just 142 runs in his last ten matches across all formats, he cut a very dejected figure in a very demoralised dugout during the Thunder's batting capitulation against the Renegades. If Gayle doesn't fire then I really don't see where the Thunder's runs will come from in order to post a big enough total. Cosgrove has become a parody of himself in my opinion and I think it will come down to the youngsters in Carters and Tremain to do the business and that Nannes gets some support. Like the Scorchers I think the Strikers are an underrated team due to having a well rounded and 'capable' squad from 1-11 rather than a few superstars who teams depend on to fire to win matches. GL all!

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Good shout Alf :ok. That was a wretched performance by the Thunder. I'm not one to criticise captains per se because I can appreciate it can be hard to think clearly when teams are on the attack but bowling a leggie to a big hitting left hander has to be a basic no no to me. The only good thing to come out of that match for me was Adelaide joining Brisbane on 21 6's for the tournament, the most by any team.

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 I was actually cursing the Strikers mid innings as I thought they should have posted near 200 considering where they were with four overs left, not posting 180 was quite ridiculous imo!! That shout on the most sixes looks a great call. The Strikers seem to have the ability to clear the ropes without throwing wickets away and given the state of the boundaries at The Oval this could be home and hosed without them needing to reach the knockout stages. Nice little knock by Klinger for the top bat bet, though I fear Finch is home and hosed there. Looking to tomorrow's game there are two voices screaming inside my head (again) one is 'No Bet' and the other is 'Stars are vastly overrated'. The stars have been less than convincing this season being soundly beaten by their neighbours before relying on the slinger to win them the next two games, the second against a very wishy washy Hurricanes where they chased 134 with 4 wickets and 5 balls remaining. The batting line up doesn't impress me too much and I think the Sixers squad is old enough and ugly enough to cope with Lasith and take Warney for plenty. If they don't fire I think the rest of their attack falls apart too. Still undecided about having a punt on this, I may wait and see if there are any good opportunities in play. Ideally I would like to back the Sixers defending a low score. Think I said a lot there without actually saying much at all...Apologies :\

:lol. Don't worry about that Alf. It's always good to read everyone's views on how matches may or may not go regardless of whether there is a bet at the end of it. It all goes into the pot that we use to make our betting decisions :ok. Agree on Finch. Hopefully Australia can pull him out for some reason :lol.

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Considering the unpredictability of both teams I feel I can't back either on the match prices. I think anything can happen tomorrow, so staying clear of that and looking forward to watching Warney again! However I have found an interesting market with Ladbrokes - They are offering David Hussey Over 0.5 sixes @ 5/1 and Rob Quiney @ 3/1 for Over 0.5 sixes aswell. The MCG is a big ground of course and sixes will probably be at a minimum but with Quiney starting to show some of the form that made him noticed for the national team and the 2 big sixes he hit at the MCG last week show he is more than capable of clearing the ropes. Hussey has hit 198 sixes in 185 T20 innings, is one of the most aggressive batsman in T20 cricket and with Wright playing for England will almost certainly move a place up the order. 5/1 seems very big for a perennial 6 hitter.

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Having double checked whilst placing these bets, I had a quick look at Haddin's and considering he will most likely open as Warner is with Australia and considering in the game before last he hit 3 sixes. However Ladbrokes are offering 16/1 over 0.5 sixes. Which quite frankly is amazing. He will have to face up to Malinga early doors, but McKay has been going for plenty of runs and early on can offer some dross that's begging to be put away. To me this is screaming to be backed.

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Friday preview: 4pts Melbourne Stars vs Sydney Sixers - Under 7.5 6's 5/6 Skybet Either side could win this match but the bet I’m more interested in is under 7.5 6’s. The Sixers are struggling a bit with batting depth with injuries and international call ups and the Stars bowling attack is pretty good with Lasith Malinga leading the way. The Sixers have some banker overs in their bowling attack in the form of Sunil Narine and if you add all that to the fact the boundaries here are massive then I think we’ll fail to see more than 7 6’s in this match. Great spot mate. Think he'll bat 3 myself but that might be even better as he could be facing someone like Hussey, Maxwell or Warne and avoid Malinga. Good luck :hope

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Don't want to be 'that guy' but are these really your thoughts or did you copy them from somewhere? The style of writing is completely different to your previous post above where you predicted Finch to lead the Hurricanes to victory against his own team.

Re: Big Bash League 2012-13 Cheers guys! Was my lucky day to be honest, 99 times out of 100 THAT drop doesn't happen. Tomorrow I have found what is going to be my only bet in that game which is Brisbane Heat most 6's @ 13/10 - PaddyPower Quite simply Heat have hit 21 sixes with 8 different batsman. The Renegades have hit only 8 sixes with Finch hitting half of them. They will need both Finch and Samuels to fire if they are going to hit more sixes in my opinion, if one or neither of them are on song then I see very little chance of them hitting more.
