Guimaraes is tough stadium to go for anyone. Despite Porto managed to win there in the past few years I think it won't be easy this year. Guimaraes are showing good form, the team has a great fighting spirit and the fans are among the most loyal in Portugal making a lot of pressure from the stands. Besides the long term injuries, Porto will also miss Defour (injured in thursdays training session). It's a pity because Defour was in great form. Guimaraes misses several players but they are the same that have been missing since several weeks and it didn't prevent them to achieve good results. Porto is the big favourite, of course, but I think odds are too low to risk it. Same happens with Benfica. They will win for sure but after an intense midweek game I have my doubts if they will beat a -2/-3 handicap.

Re: Portugal > Super Liga > 2012/13 Benfica is out of Champions League. Their next game is only on Thursday against Levekusen in Germany for Europa League. It's unlikely that Jorge Jesus will rest some players as he already said that Portuguese League is their number one goal for the season. Benfica should welcome Matic (suspended last week) and Cardozo (recovered from injury) and will field the best possible team that's for sure. As for Nacional they will miss important center-back Manuel da Costa due to suspension.

Re: Portugal > Super Liga > 2012/13 Great double chance odds on ferreira today. Braga has 6-1-2 at home and Ferreira has 4-4-1 away. Only lost came against porto(2-0) who is 9-1-0 at home. Braga has only 1 win in his last 5 games (4-1 against a weak Setubal side. Last meeting at home resulted in a 2-0 win for Ferreira who dominated the match and was unlucky to win by only 2 goals. However Ferreira has a very bad habit of drawing games against weak home teams but usually play much concentrated football against good home teams. I can’t see braga winning this game on their actual form. I go for a double chance on Ferreira.

Re: Portugal > Super Liga > 2012/13 Hi to all Portuguese people! i would know your ideas on next round i would take both Benfica and Porto as winners both teams are running alone.last week they draw after long wins run so do you think will they restart to take 3 points? Benfica will miss Cardozo (topscorer 13 goals) (+ Matic),everyone know how important Crdozo is for Lisboa team but they have other good strikers like Lima,John,Rodrigo ecc Edinhno will play for Academica after he lsot last game (banned)will he play whit Cissè up-fornt? do you think any problem for Benfica? last week Olhanense shoked whit a draw against Porto! about Porto's game,,,my big doubt is about incoming Champions League game against Malaga if Porto won't change many players,i think they will win here home team has many draws at home but if Porto will be focused on that game, they will win it for sure! will James Rodriguez back? any missing for home team?i know topscorer Balboa is out for Beira Mar,i think he is a big blow for them i know odds are low: i have Benfica 1,22 and Porto 1,25 is it an easy combo? thnx bye

Excellent spot! I had been following Ferreira too & this was terrific value. Well done.

Re: Portugal > Super Liga > 2012/13 Beira-Mar– Porto: Beira-Mar have one of the worst defenses of the Portuguese league. They concede in every game they play at home so far, in the last 3 matches they have received 9 goals and for this match they will miss central defender Tonel due to injury. From Porto's side James Rodriguez have started training again this week after one month injured. Perhaps this match comes a bit too early for him as the main goal will be to have him ready for Malaga next week.Atsu have started training again today after returning from international duty and he's also a possibility for Friday's match. It would be important for Porto to have at least one of them available. Currently there are no strong options for the wings and Izmaylov have no physical condition yet to play 90 minutes so he will probably be replaced at around 60 min of the match. Last week young Sebá from the B team entered as a substitute but he is not ready yet to play at this level. VitorPereira will fill the strongest squad possible as there is plenty of time to recover before Malaga. Porto normally doesn't loose points in two matches in a row and they are far superior to Beira-Mar so I expect a smooth victory here. Benfica-Académica: Matic and Cardozo are both suspended for Benfica and this match arrives only 3 days after important match in Leverkusen for Europa League. However Benfica's too strong at home for a disappointing Académica. I expected that, after recovering several players from injury and not having to play in the Portuguese cups or Europa League, Académica would improve drastically but in the last two matches we saw poor performances from them. Edinho will be back in contention and he will probably play as lone sriker sending Cisse to the bench again. All in all I also expect a smooth victory from Benfica. Rio-Ave– Braga: The most exciting match of the weekend in Portugal for me. Both have very good attacking players and are offensive minded. Bebe (Rio-Ave) and Eder (Braga) are in top form and it will be very difficult for both defenses to stop them. In fact I expect several goals on this one. Braga's defense is leaking everywhere and it is rumored tha tleft back Ismaily will be transferred to Shaktar Donetsk this week. Rio – Ave will miss two regular defenders due to suspension: Marcelo and Lionn. Hard to predict a winner but instead I expect an entertaining game with lots of chances and goals.

Mate, thanks once again for your great contribution regarding Liga zon Sagres! I will share briefly my opinion, although I am not Portuguese. I am sure about both Porto and Benfica wins. Last week was just the bad day for both teams. Porto started a little bit slowly and negligently, they conceded an unfortunate goal, but afterwards they smashed the guests and it was a miracle they did not get the victory. Anyway, I feel that this season Porto feels better when they play away from home - maybe it is because opponents open up more when hosting Porto, maybe it is that Porto underestimates when playing at Do Dragao, maybe the cold atmosphere at their own stadium (little home audience) also affects them. But I don't see them leaving any chance for poor Beira Mar - at least a 2 goal margin win for the Dragons in my opinion. Benfica also were very unfortunate against Nacional. Their poor defending and goal-keeper let them down. Still, the Eagles were very powerful up-front and created plenty of chances, it was a huge chance for Nacional that they held up the draw. I am sure that Benfica will totally give their best against Academica. Nevertheless, I will be more careful handicaps here, because of Benfica's leaky defense and because of Academica's good performance in the last few seasons. But I don't see Benfica missing this one, even if they win with just a goal margin. As to Braga's game, it is a big gamble. Sporting Braga are very attractive team to watch and they earn sympathies from neutral supporters, but honestly, they are not trustworthy enough and they are not the same class as Porto and Benfica. So, I would skip betting on this one.

Re: Portugal > Super Liga > 2012/13 Beira Mar - Porto Porto to win with 1 goal 3.60 bet365 Beira mar are not the bets home team but their homer record is 1-5-2. Which means for me that they are hard to beat at home. Last game at home they make 3-3 with strong Braga team. Porto from other side make a draw with Olhanense in last outing and think will not nake another mistake i consecutive games especially when they are with similar points with Benfica on the top of the table. But Porto have CL game in Tuesday with Malaga and they may be want to save part of their energy for this game. For this reasons i think Porto with 1 goal i s good bet on good odds.

Re: Portugal > Super Liga > 2012/13 Olhanense v Vitoria Setubal Teams are just above the relegation zone, so this can be called 6 points game. Both sides have achieved good results in the last round, so now I expect a cautious game from them. Olhanense scored 1 goal in last four home games, while Setubal scored 1 goal in the last three away games. Home team will be without suspended midfielder Jander and some long-injured players. On the other hand, Setubal's worst away team in the league (0-4-5) and they lost a lot with Meyong's departure. He was their topscorer (13 of 20 team goals) and the second best scorer in the league. Also imporrtant midfielder Cristiano (2 goals) is injured. Low scoring game in my eyes... under 2,5 @1.78 marathonbet low stake

Re: Portugal > Super Liga > 2012/13 RIO AVE - BRAGA Goal Line: over 3 @2,375 Bet 365 Who would say that after 18 league games Rio Ave would be only 2 points short of Braga and with the chance to overcome them if they win today? This should be no surprise if we take in consideration the irregular performances from Braga and the consistent ones from Rio Ave since fixture 1. Rio Ave is a team that relies mostly on counters due to the quickest forwards they have (striker Hassan + wingers Ukra and Bebé). Since Joao Tomás left the team, Coach Nuno Espirito Santo opted for a style supported in fast breaks and in exploring the speediness and technical skills of the most offensive players when recovering the ball. That explains why Rio Ave has much better results on the road than on home games. They suffer a bit when they are forced to take the weight of a match and attack a very organized defense. That is not going to happen today as Braga will have to attack in order to reduce the distance from Paços de Ferreira (5 points but one game less) and still fight for the third and last Champions League spot. Braga comes from 2 lousy games where they received 6 goals from low scorers Beira-Mar and Paços. In fact Braga’s defense has been the Achilles heel of the team. Last year, after 18 rounds, Braga had received 16 goals while this season the number is up to 27. This is not strange to the conception that coach Jose Peseiro has from a very offensive display while the constant change of players in the defense has not helped either. This match will be no exception as LB Ismaily was transferred to Shaktar and Elderson (recently arrived from winning Africa cup with Nigeria) will deputize for him. Braga will, once again, play with wingers Alan and Joao Pedro (signed in the winter market from Naval and doing really good so far) and attacking midfielder Mossoró supporting in-form striker Eder who scored in the last 3 away matches: against Guimaraes in the cup and Nacional and Beira-Mar for the League (by the way Eder anytime scorer at @2,62 has great value in my opinion). Another important factor to consider for this bet is that Rio Ave will miss regular LB Lionn and CB Marcelo. Instead of them André Dias and Rodriguez will likely play. Both have played only 2 and 4 games respectively so far and they will struggle to stop the offensive power of Braga. I expect a very entertaining match with both teams trying to win and powerful attacks being superior to weakened and depleted defenses.

I wondered about possible value on Rio Ave in this game' date=' but interesting to read your thoughts :ok[/quote'] As Fedar said previously on this thread, betting on Braga's matches is pure gamble. They are playing hot and cold the entire season. Having said that, I feel that they will go definitely for the win tonight as a 4th winless game could mean that Coach Peseiro would be sacked. He knows this and he might have his last chance tonight. Rumours are that young coach Paulo Fonseca from Paços de Ferreira has already been contacted to replace him next season. I wouldn't put my money on 1x2 for this match as there are several different variables (mentioned previously) that could lead it to one side or another. It's completely unpredictable from my point of view.

RIO AVE - BRAGA Goal Line: over 3 @2,375 Bet 365 1:1 Bet lost. Braga played as expected. Very offensive display with the customary defensive mistake but all in all very clumsy, emotional and disorganized. In the end they deserved to win as they were the only team that fought for it. I was surprised by Rio – Ave's attitude. After the equalizer from Braga, they were happy with a point and defended the whole second half without creating any chances at all. I expected much more from both teams. :wall

Re: Portugal > Super Liga > 2012/13

It was an unfortunate game, as Rio Ave were only disrupting and not creating anything, and Braga were trying, but did not have any idea how to break down their hosts. In fact, it should have been even a tighter score-sheet, if it wasn't for lucky goals in the first minutes and the last minute of stoppage time in the first half. But the tempo of the game was clearly suggesting unders. I think that we better be very careful with those Monday games - I have noticed that in most leagues Monday games (as well as those on Friday) tend to be very under-ish and much slower than usual. By the way, Benfica got very lucky and undeserved victory. They are very helpless without a target man like Cardozo in the center. Do you have any idea when his suspension will be over?! Without him they will have a lot of trouble against Pacos.

I agree 100% with your analysis. Rio Ave was just defending and Braga clueless in how to enter in their defense. In the end, almost no goal chances in this match. As of next weekend matches, both Porto and Benfica will have more difficulties than usual. Porto will miss CB Mangala and LB Alex Sandro against Rio Ave due to suspensions. I expect Rio Ave to park the bus and hope for one lucky counter. Benfica against Paços should be very interesting. Benfica are showing signs of fatigue in the last games and they are facing Leverkusen only 72 hours before Paços. Fortunately for them Cardozo is elegible to play again (Matic also) so no player missings from Benfica's side. Paços will arrive in full force and I expect them to be tight and organized in defense as always but with much more offensive arguments than Academica last weekend. I don't expect easy wins for none of them...

.....Fortunately for them Cardozo is elegible to play again ....
Lol, he grabbed the referee by the neck and nearly beat him, and he got one match ban. In other leagues it would have been 7-8 games rest for Cardozo. But probably also in Portugal they would have been much harsher if it was for a player from any other team besides Benfica and Porto.

Thanks for the informative posts on this league guys. I always look at Benfica , Porto and Braga games for overs and you have certainly put doubt in my mind about the Porto -rio game going overs. The value is certainly with the Braga game in my opinion with as much as $1.80 available for over 2.5 goals. 80% of braga's home games have gone overs and 60% of guimaraes away games have also gone over. Porto have only conceded 2 goals at home all season and 4 out of their last 5 home games have gone unders. Porto at $1.25 are actually a decent price all things considered and I'm leaning towards that as a better bet then overs. As potent as Martinez is they just don't look as lethal without hulk up front as they did years ago when overs was a banker.
