3.55 Epsom The turf season has come to a bit of a wet spell and certainly dampers my enthusiasm at this time of year given horses come here fresh and on testing ground results can be a little hard to predict. A chance is taken on Resurge who's course form sticks out like a sore thumb in this field with 3 wins from 6 starts and the other 3 have resulted in a 5th and 2 2nds. Failed to show much at back end of last year but tumbled in the handicap to 4lb below last winning mark over CD and was 2nd in this same race last year of a 1lb higher mark and ground no concern having won on soft ground here in the past he should go very well with the stable making a very good start to the season! 1pt win Resurge 7/1 pp

Re: BBOTD Wednesday 25th 3.20 Epsom: Thomasgainsborough @ 7/2 Bet365 Aiden O'Brien won't come over from Ireland just for a nice father & son day. Thomasgainsborough might not be one of the stable stars, though he is still a very good horse. He finished 3rd last year in a Maiden to Frontier and Lighty Heavy who won recently a Group 3. So solid form. He broke then his maiden tag at Leopardstown, had to overcome a wide draw in that race but won in a close finish to stable mate I Have A Dream. He made his seasonal reappearance a fortnight ago at Dundalk, finished 3nd there, travelled well but obviously struggled for race fitness. He will improve for his second start of the season like to many O'Brien horses did already this year and will relish the step up in trip as 1m is a bit on the sharp side and is 1m2f much more suitable. He probably won't mind the soft going either. I think it does not take much to win this race and Thomasgainsborough should prove too good for this opposition.
