Re: Sweden > Allsvenskan > 2012 No knowledge about this league but checked some stats for today's match and now leaning towards a home win at Elfsborg - Norrkoping Elfsobrg lost last year only 1 game at home and was the best home team last season, while Norrkoping was a weak away team. If Elfsborg don't have any important missing (anybody knows?), think I'll back them.

Mjallby have two 0-0s in their first two games, while host Hacken have one 0-0 in their two games and haven't conceded in either game. At the same time, Hacken is presumed to be superior to Mjallby, so bettors are lining up behind the home squad (although odds drift shows they're getting spooked by Mjallby's first two results). Odds on offer for over 2.5 are 2.35 currently, and I'm taking that as well as the home win (@1.9), because the odds have dropped because bettors expect Mjallby to defend the 0-0 as if their lives depended on it. And they might, although whether they succeed is anybody's guess. When these two met last year in the aforementioned 6-0 Hacken win, virtually the same odds situation occurred.

The price of the total has plummeted in the past two hours....everyone expects GAIS to set up defensively, but this is a crazy odds drop. Finnbogason looked pretty good against Elfsborg, and GAIS at least last season didn't adopt a defensive posture away. Helsingborg have been a solid overs team in my database, and their home form has been very good the last several years, even if GAIS has given them fits at times.

It's quite hard to find pre-match news on games in Sweden, especially in English. OK, looking around, I found this on Malmo's website - http://www.mff.se/Aktuellt/Nyheter/2012-05-08_information_torsdag.aspx I think there was some trouble at a game last year, but it looks as though this match is going ahead as normal with increased security. Helsingborg's odds look good to me at up to 4.75. Malmo are 1.91. Draw is 3.6. I think Helsingborg are the current champions. This is a derby game and Helsingborg have a good record at Malmo, so their odds look good value to me.

There's not as much between the two sides as the league placings suggest, in my view, but Hacken are scoring goals, Djurgarden are missing regular defender Pedersen, and Djurgarden's heads dropped for the first time this season against Gefle in their last match, not even attemping to score with 30 minutes remaining. DIF welcome back Keene, which helps them, but they'll have to obtain some kind of miracle to not lose in Goteborg today. Home win with -1 AH at 11/10. AIK vs Norrkoping - fun time! Norrkoping only show up for the big games and AIK are under-strength here with Turina, Milosevic, Persson etc. out. Majstorovic doesn't join until June so AIK's only strength - their defence - is weakened today. Norrkoping have good players when it comes to attacking; they just don't defend well. They play games like these as if they're cup finals, though, and AIK have a real problem scoring goals, hence four draws from four home games this season. I think giving Norrkoping +1 AH at 4/5 may win but it certainly shouldn't lose unless Norrkoping decide to not even try, which is what they did at Hacken last match. Then again, Hacken aren't a big team! Mjallby vs Gefle - I can only see a convincing home win here. The quality gap isn't huge but Mjallby can score goals and Gefle just can't. It took an own goal against DIF last match for Gefle to get a result. Gefle know how to defend and they do that pretty well, to their credit. Score the first goal against them and you'll generally be on the winning team, though. Mjallby have looked very good in the past few weeks, for my money. Slow defence, yes, but a very potent and varied attack with plenty of pace and experience. It may not win if Mjallby concede a stupid goal or two, but I don't see the -1 Asian Handicap losing so I think it's worth a shot at 11/10, especially given the goals Mjallby are scoring right now. Orebro vs Syrianska - I'm finally happy to take Orebro to win a game here. They were working hard against AIK, possibly for the first time this season, based on how they've been playing elsewhere. They looked as if they believed in themselves and although they needed a bit of luck to get a point, Orebro did earn that point by battling. Orebro are not the worst side in the Allsvenskan, contrary to what statistics suggest. They have had a bad start and have a poor defence with no replacement for Almeback anywhere to be seen despite it being about a year since he left. Their attack is good, though - they should be able to make it count on the artificial turf at the Behrn. Syrianska are a decent side but miss their best attacking player by a mile - Sharbel Touma. He stupidly got himself sent off last match in an act that I can only describe as "ridiculous". Without him, Syrianska lack a constant attacking threat. Orebro may concede here, but I think they're worth taking to win at 9/10. N.B. Laugh attacks! The worst week I've ever had in the Allsvenskan bar none. Unbelievable. You won't see AIK bag five in a game again this season, nor Hacken produce such a poor home display. Oh well - that's how it goes sometimes, I guess!

Their home form shows a perfect record of played five, won five, scoring 8 goals and conceding just 2. Their opponents, Backen, will provide a stern test. They are third in the league and have a better goal difference than Elfsborg, as a result of being the league's highest scorers with 28 goals.Backen's away form is their weak link having lost two and drawn one of their five away games. I can see Backen scoring in this game, but Elfsborg just shading it and extending their lead at the head of the table.[/h]

After 11 rounds they are ranked 2nd with 6-3-2 stats and 21 points 6points less than Elfsborg. Sundsvall on the other side is new team and much weaker ranked 12th with 3-3-5 stats and 12 points. Sundsvall lost last match 0:3 against Elfsborg at home and are on 1-1-3 form. Last 2 homematches both lost. Malmö is playing great football so far and they are unbeaten for 5 games 3-2-0 form. Last match they won 1:0 against leaders Elfsborg. Away they did not impress so far 1-2-2 but against sundsvall they are clear favourite and if they want to stay in title race a win is necessary against teams like sundsvall. Malmö to win @1,95
