Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 28 Basingstoke Town away at Farnborough (11/8 Coral) Farnborough have generally been solid at home under Spencer Day, but last time out they beat a very depleted Boreham Wood and even though Reece Connolly is staying for this one I think an organised Basingstoke will present just the kind of challenge that will cause the home side problems. Basingstoke's away record is okay and performances have been decent rather than stellar, but they have the weapons to hurt a side that isn't the best at defending. Bromley away at Weston-super-Mare (4/1 BlueSQ, Betinternet) A risk, of course, given that Bromley haven't won in an age, but they have added some quality to the squad and they were much improved against Truro. It'll be a bonus if they bag an extra striker before the weekend. Weston are excellent, and rightly favourites - and have made this thread rather a lot of profit this season - but this is a value play: I can't get the price on an improving Bromley out this far.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 28 The price on Truro has been coming in - I was thinking of backing them if the embargo had been lifted, but it hasn't. And now they are missing both frontline keepers tomorrow: ‘Tom Brooks out with hand injury-seeking medical advice. Tim Sandercombe still out with knee injury and may need surgery. Lee desperately hoping to get a loan keeper and is also attempting to register reserve keeper Luke Payne as part of the first team squad' That's from Truro City alerts and if they can't sign anyone or register the reserve, they could be in trouble. One to watch, with Staines Town - not the most reliable opponent, but improving with Dave Wheeler back in the side and with some noteworthy results away (four consecutive away league wins, including the scalps of Woking and Chelmsford), available at a best of 21/10.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 28 Gainsborough Trinity v Altrincham Two sides both trying to get into the play-off picture in the Blue Square North but I fancy the home team. Trinty’s home form has been superb this season as they have won ten and lost three. There is extenuating circumstances as well for them losing those three games as two of them featured a very inexperienced keeper who wasn’t up to the grade. The other loss was to Halifax who scored very late on after being outplayed. They have also beaten Stalybridge and Hyde at home in two of their last four home games which all points to them being in a confident mood. Altrincham have been very hit and miss away from home and to be fair it’s mainly been the later. On Tuesday night they went to Blyth Spartans and were very lucky to get a point thanks to a penalty deep into injury time. The loss of Jack Redshaw to Morecambe is a huge set-back and it seemed to affect their performance. Coral and Blue Square both go 6/5 and I think those odds should probably be the other way round. Histon v Guiseley There was a blow to Histon this week as they had to let captain Omar Riza go because they couldn’t afford him anymore. A couple of months back I would have said that was a massive blow and when I saw them lose to Uxbridge in the FA Trophy they did miss him. However I watched them a couple of weeks ago against Gloucester and although he played well there were others who impressed me more. Histon have been in good form since that Trophy defeat and it seems the young team are finding their stride after a tough start and they weren’t far away from getting at least a point at Gainsborough last Saturday. Guiseley will be tough opponents but some of their away performances of late have been disappointing. They have drawn at bottom side Eastwood, lost 4-1 to Bishop’s Stortford and drew on Tuesday night at Vauxhall Motors. They still hold hopes of catching leaders Hyde but I do think Histon have a better chance than the bookies have given them here and Stan James’ 5/2 is worth an interest. Solihull Moors v Hyde Speaking of Hyde they have hit a little sticky patch and have only won once in their last five matches, although that win was a crucial one over second place Stalybridge. They have drawn their last two games against Corby and Gloucester and really struggled to break down the latter in a 0-0 draw. That concerns me as they now travel to a Solihull side whose home form is superb. They have won five of their last seven at home and one of the others included a draw against Stalybridge. Some of Hyde’s away efforts have been disappointing this season as well and if they aren’t fully on their game here I can see a Moors victory. Again Stan James offer odds of 5/2 and that looks on the generous side. Workington v Worcester Last week I opposed Workington and backed Worcester but neither bet was successful. Worcester were hugely disappointing as they lost only their second league game at home this season on Saturday to Colwyn Bay and that means they have now lost four from four since the turn of the year. As I mentioned last week they aren’t as good away from home anyway and I think they could lose five on the bounce. I thought Workington’s upturn in form had come about because of a kind fixture list but they put in a solid performance against Bishop’s Stortford last week and were unfortunate not to come away with all three points. Workington’s home form is pretty solid as well and they hold the advantage here given the long trip Worcester have to make as well. BetVictor are best price at 11/8 and that is well worth taking.

They are just four points up the relegation zone and they also have th worst defense of this league. They already conceded 56 goals in the 26 games they played. At home they are niot strong and they have a home record of 5-0-8. Basingstoke is a solid team, still dreaming in reaching the play-off zone. They are coming from a good win and they have more value than this poor Farnborough. I believe they have good chances of winning this game as they are one of the best away teams, winning as points as they won at home.

Re: England > Weekend > BlueSQ Bet North & South Jan 28 You mean Solihull not Histon although Histon threw away a two goal lead. Seems no one wants to win the Blue Square North this season. Great shout from Ships on Bromley that is not one I would have picked at all.
