Re: England > Weekend > FA Trophy 2nd Round Jan 14 Bath City at home to Basingstoke Town (Evs William Hill) There's nothing particularly wrong with Frank Gray's decent and disciplined Basingstoke side, and they are very good away, though injuries have struck and they are on a run of just one win in six. Bath might be bottom of the league above, but they have turned something of a corner at home, with some gutsy displays and only a late Braintree goal last week prevented them making it three successive wins. The price is too high for me. Dartford at home to Boston United (4/5 Corals, Ladbrokes) Dartford can sometimes be a little edgy at home but they should be able to put some clear blue water between them and a Boston side who compete well but really lack the sheer talent that Dartford can call on. That'll probably be it for me on the Trophy, though I'm wondering why Ebbsfleet are 11/10 at BillyHills for the visit of Chester.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Trophy 2nd Round Jan 14 One spread trade for me on SportingIndex's Trophy offerings... a buy of total goals at 3.1 in the East Thurrock/Hampton & Richmond tie. ETU have found a rich vein of form and with Sam Higgins on a hot scoring streak I can see them scoring against a side who can look lightweight at the back. H&R are dangerous themselves going forward and I can't see them coasting through this one. I've swerved buying total goals in Hinckley/Luton at 3.3 because although Luton will be bringing the stiffs the Hinckley attack is looking light - the Luton supremacy at 1.1 to buy is probably the trade.

Re: England > Weekend > FA Trophy 2nd Round Jan 14 Dartford v Boston Let’s start off with the best bet of the weekend which comes in the FA Trophy. I have seen Boston this season and they are clearly not the same team that reached the play-offs last term and I would be surprised if they didn’t finish in the bottom ten in the Blue Square North. Their form of late has been especially poor as they have only won once in their last seven league games and that victory came against a very poor Eastwood side, who they also drew with. Bottom side Blyth Spartans also managed to pick up a point against them last Saturday and they were poor when losing to Bishop’s Stortford on Tuesday. Dartford on the other hand will more than likely be in the Blue Square South play-offs at the end of the season and are in decent nick at the moment. Their only defeat in the last eight league games came against the best team at this level in Woking and they come into this game on the back of an impressive 4-1 thumping of Havant & Waterlooville last Saturday. The odds have been cut already but I still think the 4/5 with Ladbrokes is worth taking.
