Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 Cambridge - Grimsby catches my eye. Grimsby have improved a lot in recent months and are now unbeaten in 9 games, including 4 away games. They won last three away games, but admittedly those victories came against Kettering, Lincoln and Alfreton, who aren't probably as demanding as Cambridge. Cambridge on the other side have been inconsistent recently and after a series of 4 draws they had two wins and two defeats. They haven't, however lost at home since 20 August when they were beaten by Kidderminster by a single goal. This, by the way, has been their only home defeat this season to date. Judging by the stats and Grimsby's progress I expect it to be a tight game with draw a likely result, however I am willing to give the home side the benefit of doubt and take them on DNB @ 1.5 for two reasons: 1. Their home record. 2. Grimsby will be more tired since they played today. Cambridge's last game was on Thursday. As there's nothing more enriching than a healthy debate I will finish with my usual question: opinions?

Cambridge have been magnificent at home, though recent performance have been on the scratchy side (even when results have been good) and there is a feeling they might reached their high water mark this season. Grimsby, who I've always believed will be a team for next season once the management team finally got the squad they wanted and have a summer to prepare them, are on a stunning run and getting better, though as you say they've generally been putting to bed the weaker elements of the section. It's a hard one to call, and I won't be getting involved until I see the spreads, but in terms of percentages the 5/2 about Grimsby with Ladbrokes is higher than I'd make it.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 I'm always on the look out for 'after the lord mayor's parade' value and the Fleetwood v Barrow game really sticks out. I can imagine Fleetwood will be feeling a bit deflated after the build up to saturday and subsequent hammering, and the last thing they would want three days later is to entertain a team who will come to play fast paced pass and move football with a joie de vivre rarely seen outside the Nou Camp... Ahem. Barrow won the encounter between these teams back at the beginning of the season 4-0, inflicting one of Fleetwoods two away defeats to date (an amazing 11-1-2 record). Their home form however is less impressive with a 6-5-1 showing. That said, Barrow's away form is pretty shocking, and only three teams in the division have lost more on their travels. Despite this I'm betting on Barrow's 'spoilers' to do a job tomorrow night, but am not convinced they can take all three points so a small play on Barrow +1 @ 2.6 Correct score 0-0 @ 13.00

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10

any suggestion about this game?
Hinckley-Altrincham
home win?
Hinckley's good periods of form have certainly come in set spells this season so it could end at any time and although the Nuneaton results were good I wouldnt read much into a hammering of Eastwood as they are poor. Alty's away form has been on the whole shocking and they suffered a surprise defeat at home to Colwyn Bay on Saturday. I would have been tempted with Hinckley but it seems the bookies are on the ball as Id like a bigger price really given that on paper Alty do have the better team. One to leave alone for me.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 I was tempted by Thurrock again given that Salisbury might be on a downer after the cup but Thurrock were poor on Saturday so even at the odds its hard to make a solid case to back them. One bet I am going to have is in the Ryman Premier though as Carshalton look a decent price at 11/10 to beat a woeful Aveley team who bar Horsham are the worse team in the league. Granted Carshalton's recent record isnt great and they should really be a play-off contender given the squad they have, but it would be a surprise if they werent able to see off their hosts tomorrow night and odds against with Coral looks decent.

Given the way both sides are defending, there's always over 5.5 (6/1 at William Hill). Alty are definitely the stronger squad on paper, although they rarely show they have any backbone on the road. The signing of Marlon Broomes will help and I'm drawn to backing Alty but I'll wait to see if there is more drift.

Decent shout on Carshalton, I think. Aveley are getting worse and though they only lost 2-1 on Saturday that said more about Hastings' inability to take any of a host of chances presented to them by their dominant midfield - and it's not often Hastings' midfield dominates anyone. Carshalton are on a poor run, but they were competitive at Wealdstone and not too far behind an energetic Bury side. With the lively Ellis Remy debuting at Hemel at the weekend with a goal, Aveley's goalscoring problem has just got worse. They are a team very much in transition, and look no better than a mid-table Ryman 1 side at the moment.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 Just noticed that Loughborough Dynamo are 15/2 at HT at Bet365 in running to win at Bradford Park Avenue, who have made four of five changes to the starting XI from Saturday. It's the Northern Prem cup and therefore low down the priority list for both sides, though the visitors are near full strength, I believe. For BPA, Adam Clayton is missing, Tom Greaves is on the bench and rookie Lydon Clarke is in goal. Dynamo are the inferior side by far but I think 15/2 is a bit too high given the scenario. Sounds reasonably even so far, judging by the text commentary on the BPA website. A sporting play...

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 Dismal shout for me on the BPA game - if I'd have waited ten more minutes I could have had Loughborough at 80/1! Hinckley/Alty didn't quite manage to make over 5.5, but the Alty price did drift to 13/8 at Bet365 and as far as 2.8 at Betfair, which would have handsomely rewarded takers.

Cambridge - Grimsby - 1 DNB @ 1.6 with VC This is the bet I have taken this morning. couldn't resist the price on DNB to be honest given Cambridge's home form. I have just read that Cambridge's best striker Michael Gash is out injured so it is some kind of blow to my bet but on the other hand he only scored two out of last 8 for Us so isn't irreplaceable. I can't access Grimsby's team news as their OS match preview is on the paid video channel. TeamTalk doesn't seem to cover NonLeague if anyone has an independent website for Conference match previews, team news and transfers a link here would be much appreciated.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 Altrincham FC at 8/5 overprice my eyes, also gateshead very good at home but kiddy at 2/1 also a nice price. teams news needed on that. luton, cambridge, fleetwood should have enough to win. boston at home but not played well latey, maybe worth £1 on away win.

SuperImps - just to mention that 'reasoning' is requested on these threads, not just a string of teams and odds. And I don't know why you are tipping Altrincham, who have already beaten Hinckley (played Monday night).

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 Cambridges home records scares the hell out of me, but i just have to take this one. Odds are simply great and calculated into percentages they do offer some nice value imo. Cambridge home record apart, i believe Grimsby is a tema that play to win, they really dont care about getting a point, but play offensivelly and try to score more than opponent and they do have Neath which is excellent attacker on this level, plus added Edding, Coulson or even Makofo. In last game they again mpressed and won against in form Alfreton, which was on a good run themsleves. I did not get team information, but Cambridge do miss best striker Gash - better said he is doubt and defender Wlyde. All in all i do believe this game could go either way, Grimsby are on a great run themsleves and their better offensive might be crucial today and i do believe they should carry on mementum. I wanted to take Grimsby straight win, but i do think that dnb offers nice safety and still offers value. Grimdby dnb @ 2.37 stanjames

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 As a Cambridge fan I'm slightly worried about tonight. We are literally down to the bare bones. Gash is missing thanks to a dreadful challenge her received from Poku at the end of the Southport game. His goal record isn't great but it's his hold up play that we will really miss as he links up with the over running midfielders extremely well. I expect Liam Hughes will start in his place. Another youngster full of potential but liable to slip in and out of games. We are also struggling at the back with Wylde out injured and MacAuley still not quite up to match fitness. That means another scholar in Blaine Hudson will start. He is only 19 but great things are expected of him. He's also 6ft 3 and fairly mobile. It will be an interesting contest but i'd happily take a draw at the moment. I think I'll look into the odds of Grimsby DNB.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 LUTON TO WIN TO NIL 5/4 CORAL BLUESQ Luton should have little difficulty scoring against one of the weakest teams in the league. As well as scoring freely in recent games they are also keeping it tight at the back. Stockport have failed to score in 6 of their last 7 games; in their last match against Gateshead they managed just the one shot on target. . Therefore the 5/4 price looks appealing to me.

Careful with this because we have a lot of defensive injuries tonight off the back of Saturday. We could be back to the days of midfielders in defence again. Our midweek record isn't particularly appealing this season either. We've yet to keep a clean sheet in midweek this season with first choice defence or patched up one.

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 LUTON -1AH @ 1.45...bet366...stakes3/10....the teams are out and I know that hatters are'nt full strength at the back but I think they are more than capable of outscoring the away side who start with a 17 year old in goal.Stockport look a little light up front also and Luton have Crow(8 goals) and Fleetwood(5 goals) who can cause the Stockport's defence some problems and maybe win by at least 1.....

Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 I'm a little surprised to see Sutton United drifting as far as Evs tonight (and better than that for some healthy amounts at Betfair). They've a decent starting XI and it's Hampton who have the greater team issues tonight. I'd make Sutton much closer to the 8/11 mark tonight.

Cambridge - Grimsby - 1 DNB @ 1.6 with VC
0-1 Bet lost :(:( Following the live text on BBC second half sounded like right battering by Grimsby. Anyway, first bet lost this year so hopefully I can get back to winning ways on Saturday! EDIT: Great form by Grimsby by the way. Will be interesting to hear views of Cambridge fans on the match.
