Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Jan 7 AFC Hornchurch away at Wingate & Finchley (11/10 Bet365) Wingate & Finchley's only win in eight was the 3-2 at home to Bury - a match they might have easily contrived to lose. They are looking light defensively and are without a clean sheet at home all season. AFC Hornchurch capitulated at Canvey after losing Martin Tuohy to a red at 1-0 up, but they bounced back in superb fashion against Lowestoft. I suspect they'll have too much attacking prowess for the home side. Met Police at home to Hendon (11/10 Bet365) Hendon are well off their breezy early season highs, with some utterly limp defences performances recently - they contrived to lose games that a more solid side might have won against Harrow and Bury. Road performances have been good and they have beaten AFC Hornchurch away, though that was just one of two wins in ten. Met Police don't score enough from the chances they make for my liking, but they are pretty solid at home - last week's draw with Lewes interrupted the sequence of four successive wins. Aveley away at Hastings United (10/3 StanJames) Aveley are on a terrible run, with one point in six games, and I've opposed them in the last two. They were particularly terrible at Concord but actually put on a fair show against Margate. Hastings have one point in five, and are the stronger squad, but are really lack the scoring touch at the moment. I wouldn't normally be advocating Aveley, but my own price is nowhere near this. I make Hastings narrow favourites and Aveley are value.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Jan 7 Ashton United away at Burscough (11/8 Bet365, BetFred) Ashton had tightened up considerably until last week's home hammering by Northwich Vics. They have been decent on the road, and put on a competitive show last time out at FCUM and have also done well at Hednesford and Chester before that. Burscough landed a fine win at Kendal last week but they've conceded 15 in the last four, and have lost the experienced Mark Beesley this week.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Jan 7 Weymouth away at Arlesey Town (11/8 Stan James) I opposed Weymouth last weekend at home to St Albans, and although they were under the cosh for long spells, they clearly had the tools to unpick a slightly edgy defence. They followed that up with a fine win against AFC Totton. Full marks to Brendan King, who is doing a hell of a job with a squad that I thought did not have such potential. Away thay haven't looked quite as good, as a recent loss at Hitchin proved, but they will on a high going into this one against a side that has a single home win all season. Man for man, Arlesey look more than a match for the visitors, with the likes of Chris Dillon, Stefan Bailey and David Perpetuini in the squad, but they are not functioning at the moment, having only beaten Evesham in seven. I'll take the visitors, who have been brighter in all departments recently.
