Reasoning	Skalica should win this one, even when they are not in a very good form recently. The team finally got back on the winning ways (8:2 at home against Trencin). Medvescak have been playing hot and cold lately, but despite that have managed to win 5 from last 7 games, with the total going 5-2 under in the same span. They are safe for the play offs and some rotations will be made by coach Raymond, the same as in last few games. Kristan will be starting in goal, unless there is a last minute change of plan, and his sub 2 GAA means a tough time for the visitors today. Red bull are also safe for the play offs and will be using more of their fringe players in the last few games of regular season. They have been an overs machine lately with 6 straight and 8 from last 10 going over. Both teams posted big wins in the last round, with Medvescak winning 5-2 vs Olimpija while Salzburg won 6-3 vs Graz. I expect a let down effect and bit more cautious play from both teams today. Both teams are hitting 50% o/u home/aways on a larger timeframe and the under is 3-2 when Medvesak are in the Arena so some clear value for me on the under here. Pick: U 5.5 @ 2.25 bet365

Reasoning	Today I chose a match from the german DEL where we find the "other" Penguins, actually the Penguine of Krefeld going on road to EisArena Wolfsburg to take on the Wolfsburg Grizzlies for the 3rd time this season. In the first two meetings both teams won their home game (KREFELD 4-0, WOLFSBURG 10-2). There is a huge consistancy between the Krefeld of this season and two years ago when they were the revelation of the league, now ranking just 12th with 47 points after 37 games played, coming after a win over Augsburg at home, 5-1. On the other side Wolfsburg has been stable along recent years, now being a team of the upper half of the league, ranking 5th with 63 points with the best defense and 3rd best ofense. Last round they found themselves down against a team of Eisbaren who have been hit by many injuries to lose it in the end by 5-6 and snap a good 4-game winning streak. If we talk of form, recent form, position in the league table Wolfsburg comes on top, the only way Krefeld could pose som threat is that in their last road game (being a little better then on home ice so far) they beat the Adler Mannheim who is 2nd in the league by 3-1 and they got 1 win in 2 meetings against the Grizzlies so far this season (at home but still). I won`t bother with those little advantage of the Pinguine and I will head straight with a clear win for Wolfsburg who is doing a much better job on home ice (then when on road), 12-1-0-5 record, 63:30 goals, here also with the first defense and 3rd best offense, winning their last 4 straight at EisArena Wolfsburg (last 3 in a row by 2 or more goals). Actually as an interesting stat, the Wolfsburg everytime they did win on home ice in regular time 9 times out of 12 were by 2 or more goals. I will make the same prediction here, for the Wolfsburg Grizzlies to win it by 2 or more goals.

This will be their 4th meeting of the season with so far the Olomouc leading the series by 2-1 overall (last 2 in a row). Olomouc belongs to the upper side of the league table, more exactly 3rd with 80 points, 23-3-5-9 record and 135:90 goals, coming from a loss last tima at Kadan 3-7 which ended a 3-game winning streak. Despite the fact that Litomerice, a modest team who 4 rounds ago beat Chomutov at home, 5-4 they show not that convincing stats when on road, just 6 wins in 20 games ( from which 12 losses were in regular time) with 42:64 goals, one of the weekest ofense and deffense in that category. In this meeting I will coung on the very strong force of Olomouc on home ice who is very close competing with the best in the league (Usti and Chomutov), now 3rd best with 15-1-3-1 record, 75:27 goals, that is one of the best offense and by far the best defense. So I see a better hosting team winning this as they are on a 7-game winnings streak on home ice. Litomerice has lost 4 of their last 5 games so I think a win by 2 or more goals for Olomouc is good for this match.

Reasoning	Today I propose a match from the czech Extraliga where the Plzen "Indians" will be hosting a team against they had surprisingly limited success this season despite the difference in the standings, Kometa Brno. Plzen is now ranking 2nd in the league, 21-6-6-8 record, getting just their 3rd losing streak of the season after in the last round they gave it up on road to the Vitkovice Steel, 3-5. On the other side Brno is only 10th with 13-5-4-18, big difference and despite that they have managed to win 3 of their last 4, last time at home against Trinec by 1-0. Like I said Plzen had limited success this season losing the only meeting here in Plzen to Kometa by a surprising 1-6. Although Kometa has now won 3 out of the last 4, they still remain one of the weekest in the league in road games, 4-2-2-12 facing none other than the best team in the league in home games Plzen who has the best offense by far in this category. My guess will be that in this match Plzen could win it by 2 or more goals and at the same time get payback and snap out of this losing streak. Plzen is +34 in goals on home ice while Brno is -20 when on road so I think there is a good chance.

The situation in the meetings between these two haven`t changed for quite some time now, Sonderjylland winning 15 of the last 18. Counting the fact that (not surprisingly) Sonderjylland is the best in the league in home games with 12-2-0-2 record (that means they lost only 2 times in 16 games played) best offense and best defense in that category, I think they have a good chance of winning it clearly against Rodovre who despite the recent 4-game winning streak, they will have to play much more to get anything out of this. One thing is certain the Djurgardens made most of their points on home ice (36 out of 58), where they won their last 2 in a row, but now they will head on road where they are none other then penultimate, 3-5-3-8, 44:65 and last but not least they are on a 3-game losing streak where they were outscored 11-1, that adding to their weekest defense that they have in that category. In the first match here at Hovet, AIK were crushing the Djurgardens by a score of 5-0 and I believe that there is a good chance that that could happen now as well. AIK who are better so far in home games with +14 in goals and won 5 of their last 6 (the last 4 of them by 2 or more goals) will take on Djurgardens who are at their worst so far on road with -21 goals, losing their last 3 in a row, so I think the hosts in this one could win it by 2 or more goals. Jesenice have been in trouble the whole season and it's gotten wore recently. after losing many players to money problems, they lost their captain and starting goalie a few days ago. Even with them in squad I would take Znojmo here, like this it should be a blowout. Znojmo have not played well through the season but are are stil figting for a play off spot as they are just 3 points behind and looked good in the win over VSV. This is more of a be against Jesenice than anything else. They are just ina an appaling position on the ice and off it. They are wishing for the end of the season to come as soon as possible and for me have dobtful motivation here. Znojmo will try to score as early possible to put the pressure on the guests as they can defend but once the game opens have no chances at all. Pick: Znojmo -2.5 @ 2.11 pinnacle

Mannheim allowed 8 in last 3 home games what is alomst 3 per game. Mannheim has a complete squad for this game but squad that beacuse of injries didnt play toghter for a while!

Re: EUROPEAN ICE HOCKEY - JAN 2012 Olimpija - Medvescak This is the other match that cought my eye today. Olimpija are far from their highs from the start of the season. Their form has been pretty bad of late and are coming into this match with a few problems. They have been having trouble both scoring and keeping the puck out of their net and have lost the last 2 games with a 2-8 goal difference. Medvescak are not in their best form either, but are playing far better hockey than the hosts. After losing the last game in the Zagreb Arena where they did not show much, they went on the road and got the wictory i a wild one 5 to 4. With the above mentioned problems for the Slovenian team and the fact they have big problems when facing Medvescak over the last 3 seasons, I see some nice value on the Zagreb team as this is a 45-55 match IMO. To straighten somewhat this pick, Dinamo Riga has now won 2 straight at home while CSKA has lost 4 of their last 5 road games. This time the situation will be different Fribourg is the revelation of this season, now ranking 3rd, 3 points less then the leader Zug, coming from their 2nd loss, at home against Davos, 1-4. In the first three meetings between these two there was only one winner, Fribourg (twice at home and once on road) and I wouldn`t be surprised if they would win it now as well with Ambri losing their last 4 straight home games, adding of course to the weekest record that they allready have in that category. I will pick Fribourg who I think found a good match to end the losing streak and counting the fact that Ambri has lost their last 3 by 2 or more goals, I believe that is possible here as well.
