After a thrilling end to their test series, India and West Indies now turn to the 50 over format of the game as they prepare to play out a 5 match ODI series which begins on Tuesday morning. As with the test matches all these games are live on Sky in the UK and so this is another series which should provide some decent betting potential. Schedule:

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series One series bet for me: - 4.88pts Series Correct Score: India 4-1 West Indies @ 2.88 [Ladbrokes] - 3.12pts Series Correct Score: India 5-0 West Indies @ 4.50 [Ladbrokes] Part of me feels that India have a few eyes on Australia. Part of me feels the overkill of cricket for the Indian team in recent months has to catch up on them sooner or later. Part of me feels that this is the best chance an International side will get for ages to win an ODI series in India for ages. Despite all this, I only see one result. India are without Dhoni, Tendulkar, Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Praveen Kumar and Zaheer Khan. They also have Sehwag as captain and their most experienced seamer has only played 11 ODI's. When you look at things like that then you have to say that the Windies have a chance. I don't think so though. They can't play spin and India is just a fxckery for any International side to come and play ODI cricket. The only side that's tasted victory over here were the MIGHTY Autralians in '05. I'll put it out there that there won't be a team like that again for years. India for me here at combined odds of 1.756.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series As for the 1st ODI, I'm going to swerve. There hasn't been an ODI here at Cuttack for nearly two years and in the 16 that have been played here, it has been a slow, low and pretty dead track. The curator has come out and promised a high scoring game for tomorrow though and has publicy stated that he "wouldn't rule out a score of 300+". With that kind of uncertainty and the small factors of a Sehwag/Pollard massacre, I'll avoid and see how things play out.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series Two outrights for me in this series. 2pts India to win ODI series 5-0 7/2 Bet365 We saw when England toured India just how hard beating the hosts in their own back yard is and I wouldn't say this West Indies side are likely to fair any better unless Kieron Pollard goes berserk somewhere along the line. Even though I'm not sure it will be enough because this West Indies side still haven't shown me they can play spin. They batted well in a couple of innings against India in the test series but they never really showed that they can work the spinners which you have to do in ODI cricket as England showed when they couldn't do it. Even though India have rested MS Dhoni for this series you could quite easily argue that they are stronger than they were for the England series with Virender Sehwag back in the starting line up. I like the balance of the India bowling attack and the depth of their batting and if Denesh Ramdin comes out to bat at 5 for the West Indies I don't see their batting line up being long enough with genuine batsmen to trouble India in this series and at 7/2 I think we'll get a decent run for our money on the 5-0. 2pts D.Bravo Top West Indies Series Batsman 4/1 Bet365 I've been a big fan of Darren Bravo for a long time and he's in the form of his life at the minute having his two classy centuries in the test series. He was head and shoulders the best West Indian batsman in that series and it's only really Lendl Simmons who is coming into the side who didn't play in that test series. Bravo showed that he can play the spin quite well and he'll always score naturally off the seamers too. Coming in at number should be fine for him too because he'll get most of the powerplay overs and a long time at the crease to bat. I think in time Darren Bravo will have some impressive numbers in his career but with the form he's in I think he can go some way to that with a good series here. I really enjoy watching Bravo bat and I think I'll be watching a bit of him in this series.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series 3 for me in the opening ODI. 5pts Under 6.5 6's 5/6 Paddy Power In 15 previous matches in Cuttack this line has never been covered and I think what we've seen since the new rules came in is that scores are lower than they were before the new rules set in and batting isn't as easy. I don't think that's any surprise given that there are two new balls now keeping the bowlers interested for longer. The danger with this bet is of course that we are taking on one of the biggest hitters arguably to ever play the game in Kieron Pollard while Virender Sehwag is another dangerous hitter as is Suresh Raina but MS Dhoni doesn't play which is one positive for us. The ground at Cuttack is on the larger side and the dew is expected to come into play which will mean the conditions become heavy so while we can never be sure how matches will play out prior to the first ODI with 15 previous match on the ground not containing more than 6 6's and conditions and rule changes in the favour of fewer 6's I'll have a medium stake on this line. 4pts Over 16.5 wides 5/6 William Hill West Indies were never the most disciplined bowling attack even in their heyday. It's always been all about getting the ball down the other end as quickly as possible without too much in the way of accuracy and that remains the case a lot of the time even now. Sometimes though the slower balls come into play too and they go pair shaped. India are far from a controlled bowling attack especially with their new seamers in. Parthiv Patel hasn't kept wicket for a while and he's smaller than Dhoni so he might let a bonus wide go for extra wides. There is meant to be dew in the second half of this match which won't help gripping the ball and should lead to even more wides so I think there's more than enough here to suggest we will get the required 17 wides in this match. 1pt ew P.Patel Top India Batsman 6/1 Coral (1/5 1-3) Parthiv Patel looks set to open again in this series with Gambhir going down to number three and were that to happen you would have to suggest that this 6/1 is a big price. It's a big enough price anyway but it's certainly a big price if he opens and makes the most of the powerplays. He's decent enough against the seamers and with Sehwag at the other end he doesn't need to do anything stupid so he should really bat for a good while in each innings he opens in. West Indies have a couple of tricky spinners so it might just be a good time to be batting against the new ball. He doesn't strike me as a decent finisher so I'm sure he'll be up the order in some capacity which makes 6/1 a very attractive each way bet given that we know he will bat.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series Great match. How the Windies never won that I'll never know. From a personal perspective, I probably should've backed my original instincts ahead of the match, would've made a packet. India winning keeps the outright well and truly alive though. Few good shouts from Kev too with Bravo setting the pace early on. Played mate :ok

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series Cheers mate. +5.5pts from the first ODI. I'm taking 4 for the second one. 4pts 8 or more 6's 8/11 Sportingbet In the three matches which have been played at this ground in Visakhapatnam there have been 16, 11 and 9 6's so the bare statistics would suggest that this line is a little low and although there's no Yuvraj, Gayle or Dhoni there's more than enough hitting power to get the job done on what is usually a very good batting track. Sehwag, Raina, Pollard and even the likes of Bravo and Samuels can all hit decent 6's and there's one or two others dotted in either side also capable of clearing the ropes. I don't think these two line up's will produce a lot of 6's throughout the series but this is a ground where I believe we'll see a few. 3pts S.Raina's Performance Pts - 41&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. Suresh Raina hit an unbeaten 71 off just 47 balls the last time India played here and I see no reason why he won't cover 41 points in this match. He took a wicket in the opening ODI and the way India only play 4 specialist bowlers he's always going to get some overs with the ball and with the bat he's almost the finisher in this side in Dhoni's absence. He's one of India's better fielders too so there's points with the catches potential as well and with all that in mind I think 41 is well within reach. 3pts M.Samuels' Performance Pts - 37&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. Marlon Samuels didn't do much with the bat in the opening match but with a better batting wicket on this ground and good form in the test series coming into this ODI series I certainly think there's enough there for him to go well with the bat in this match. He bowled 10 fairly tidy overs in the first ODI and was unlucky not to take a wicket along the way too but it appears he'll bowl a few overs in this match as well which could provide us with a huge chunk of this line were he to take a wicket. He's a decent enough fielder so catches are out of the question so like Raina I think Samuels has enough scoring potential to cover this total. 1pt ew K.Pollard Top West Indies Batsman 7/1 Coral (1/5 1,2,3) We all know what Kieron Pollard can do when he gets going and looking at previous scores on this ground it looks like a bish bash bosh innings at the end is very much the order of the day. I've mentioned Raina's innings here last time but Cameron White hit 89 off 49 in the same match and Yuvraj hit 95 off 83 in the match before that. The first ODI here MS Dhoni hit 148 off 123 so the big hitting cameo is very much an option on this ground and few play that role better than Kieron Pollard. There's a couple of men in this West Indies line up that aren't quite up to this standard yet and that only goes to make Kieron Pollard a better each way bet.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series I have had a fairly decent look at tomorrows ODI game and the last ODI game that was played there between India and England a game which India one relatively easily. Whilst this game was admittedly back in 2008 what I thought was interesting was two fold. Firstly the highest scorers for India were the "sloggers" rather than the more cultured batsmen, Yuvraj Singh scored 118, Yusuf Pathan 50, G Gambhir (whilst cultured is still aggressive 70). And reading the game notes the only time when England batted the only time we looked in the game was when Flintoff and Pietersen were taking it to the Indian attack. But the wicket takers for India in that game were 4 wickets for Yuvraj, 3 wickets for Sehwags off breaks :eek, 1 for Harby and 2 for Yusuf Pathan. Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel and RP Singh didn't get a wicket. If this is a reflection of tomorrows wicket I think it will favour the more aggressive batsmen and spin attack. If the West Indies play Sunil Narine tomorrow as expected both teams will have a formidable spin attack, but with Gambhir and Sehwag not on top form at the moment I think the West Indies with the likes of Pollard, Russell, Sammy, Samuels possibly have an advantage from a dynamic perspective. But rather than play the West Indies win at much bigger odds I am going to take a risk and play Marlon Samuels to be the man of the match at 18/1 with Bet 365. I am hoping the combination of his aggressive batting and off spin could potentially win him this award in the hope that he contributes significantly in both elements of the game.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series Good luck with that CB. I agree with what you said in regards to the dynamic ability of the West Indies and with that I will take the following: - 3pts Sixes Matchbet: West Indies @ 11/10 - 4pts Total Sixes: Over 9.5 @ EVS As soon as I found out that this match was going to be played at Indore, I wanted to touch overs on the sixes. Both these sides have a lot of guys who can clear the ropes and on the tiny boundaries here in North India, I expect to see alot of mamimums. We've already seen a mighty effort from the Windies in terms of sixes so far this tournament with them hitting 16 in the last two games and with the potential threat of Raina, Sharma and of course, Virender Sehwag, you cannot deny the Indians ability to cross the ropes here too. There were two IPL matches here last year, the first game saw 17 maximums, the second saw Eleven where 98 played 97. There is definite scope for sixes here at Indore and with the players down to Ravi Rampaul who can clear the ropes, I expect the West Indies to triumph. - 4pts Total Wides: Over 16.5 @ 5/6 These two sides are no strangers to wide deliveries. Both sides have a lot of seamers present and two of the three ODI's so far have cleared this line. What makes me want to play again though is the threat of dew at this Indore pitch. Late afternoon dew is a problem here in Indore with the stadium being at the foot of the some pretty serious mountain range. The preview on cricinfo tells us that apparently the curator here is banking on some chemical to negate the effect of dew tomorrow. I don't know what kind of magic spray he thinks he has but I'm not completely sold and I expect the side fielding second to struggle. Dew brings wides, add those wides to the wides that would come anyway from these two sides and we should see 17+. Overs for me.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series Annoying second ODI for me that one. Lost 2.68pts but would've made a profit had Marlon Samuels held on to a caught and bowled chance. Since then India have lost a match so I'm coming into this 4th ODI +0.82. I'll take two here. Can't add a lot more to Tyler really. They look the obvious bets to me. 5pts West Indies Most 6s 6/5 Paddy Power West Indies have won all three 6's matches in this series so far and they've won the last two pretty comfortably as well. In the 2nd ODI they won 9-2 while they won 7-3 in Ahmedabad last time out. That's a huge number of 6's they are hitting but with the likes of Pollard, Russell and Sammy in the team it's no surprise. As Tyler correctly mentions above, this is very much a ground you can hit 6's on and I would expect a fair few more to come from the Caribbean bats even without Darren Bravo in the side. I've mentioned the three big hitters but Ravi Rampaul is no slouch and neither are Danza Hyatt or Marlon Samuels. Other than Suresh Raina and maybe Virender Sehwag there isn't a natural 6 hitter in the Indian top order and it's not a top order which is really firing anyway. I expect to see the West Indies hit the most 6's here. 4pts Over 15.5 wides 8/11 Sportingbet Fairly happy with this line. It wasn't covered in the last ODI but it was in the first two and with a bit of movement around from the ball in the mountain settings coupled with dew in the evenings I expect to see some wides in this match. If anything we are helped should Irfan Pathan take the place of Umesh Yadav who is on his way to Australia now. If Pathan does take his place his radar is rarely correct and he can fire them down legside without even thinking about it. All the West Indies seamers can slide them down leg and even outside off stump so I think the potential is there for plenty of wides in this match.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series With India making good progress against the mainly West Indian seamers in the first fourteen overs at 108 without loss. The price on the West Indies has drifted to 5/1 currently with Bet 365. This match was always going to be high scoring so think this is a little bit of an over reaction. Going to have some of the 5/1. The over on the 6's looks a good thing:clap

LOSS - 3pts Sixes Matchbet: West Indies @ 11/10 WIN - 4pts Total Sixes: Over 9.5 @ EVS LOSS - 4pts Total Wides: Over 16.5 @ 5/6
This really has rounded off a shit week for me. Even when Russell went I still thought Ramdin, Rampaul, Sammy and Roach could get us the two sixes needed but they didn't and in the end it finished an annoying 7-7. Fifteen wides aswell. -3.00 for the day. :sad

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series Dead rubber tomorrow but I'm effectively on India at 1.75. Fancy a few though so here goes: - 4pts Match Wides: Under 17.5 @ 5/6 [WillHill] I got burnt with this in the last match, but at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai I expect a low, slow turner. This stadium was a nightmare for anyone involved in the IPL and I expect the West Indies to struggle a lot with the conditions. They don't play spin well at the best of times and I think theyre going to get a full amount of overs from Ashwin, Jadeja and Raina. The spinners won't bowl a great deal of wides. You may get the odd few that squirt down the leg side but there won't be a whole load. This inflated line gives us a bit more cover aswell and with no real problems with dew in Chennai I expect unders tomorrow on the wides. - 4pts Player Performance: V Sehwag Under 39 @ 5/6 [WillHill] When someone does well, there is always an overreaction in the next match. This line is quite high for someone who only bats and I am happy to play under here. Yes he smashed all kinds of records in the last match but we need to remember his form before that. He had scores of 20, 26 and 0. He got the benefit of wayward bowling early up, beautiful batting conditions and some small boundaries at Indore. He won't get that here. West Indies will probably have a plan for him and his record here isn't overly amazing. All eyes will be on Sehwag tomorrow but I think there'll be a big anti-climax. Unders for me. - 4pts Total Sixes: Under 6.5 @ 5/6 [WillHill] - 2.41pts Highest Individual Score: 50-74 @ 3.75 [bluesq] - 2.589pts Highest Individual Score: 74-99 @ 3.5 [bluesq] Also don't envisage that many sixes. There have been five matches here in the past 12 months and only one of them has seen seven or more sixes. This stadium in Chennai isn't prone to many high scores. In those five matches, the average 1st Innings score is 171. If West Indies bat first I don't expect them to do very well and it should ensure unders. Of course we have the threat of a Pollard or Sehwag slaughter but I am willing to take them on. There wont be much on offer with the plethora of spin expected and I am happy with the line to play under. Same too with the high score. Yuvraj got a century here in the World Cup but in those four matches prior I keep referring to, the highest score was 81. "No Century in Match" was priced at 4/6. The dutch gets odds of 4/5. I'll play on the dutch.

WIN - 4pts Match Wides: Under 17.5 @ 5/6 [WillHill] PUSH - 4pts Player Performance: V Sehwag Under 39 @ 5/6 [WillHill] LOSS - 4pts Total Sixes: Under 6.5 @ 5/6 [WillHill] LOSS - 2.41pts Highest Individual Score: 50-74 @ 3.75 [bluesq] LOSS - 2.589pts Highest Individual Score: 74-99 @ 3.5 [bluesq]
Pollard rounds out the worst week in my betting "career". Pathan was doing his best to fxck the wides bet too but that was the only saving grace. Two centurions and 13 sixes from the Windies. Fxck.

Re: Cricket: India vs West Indies - ODI Series -10.82 for the series for me. That 4th ODI was a killer with the tied 6's after Sammy dropped Sehwag who went on to hit the 6 which tied and falling one wide short. Bravo looked good for the series top bat but got injured so if it could go wrong it pretty much did. Well done to all with winners in this series :ok.
