Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Nov 19 Wealdstone at home to Canvey Island (11/10 Ladbrokes, Coral) Canvey were one of the sides I expected to do well this season, but although they started the season brightly they had their patches of good fortune, and they soon began to look like a side that was sailing too high. They destroyed struggling Ware in the league cup this week, but a tricky set of league features have seen them slip out of the play-offs. Wealdstone have been improving with a more settled side and steadily climbing the league table. A draw against Lowestoft was followed by a couple of home wins and a deserved draw at Billericay. With Lee Chappell performing well, they are starting to create more chances and with a wealth of strikers at their disposal it's tempting to think that their run will continue. Canvey are still playing good stuff, and their loanee striker Kyle Asante in good nick will be a danger, but they have more question marks against them than an improving Stones. 11/10 is not a massive price but it will do.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Nov 19 Elsewhere, the short-oddd fancy is Met Police to dispose of a Tooting & Mitcham side that perform with considerable verve going forward but have conceded at a rate of knots all season. The Police can be patchy at home but I think that overall they will be too strong. The Police are 4/7 with Coral (and that can doubled with Salisbury in the BlueSQ South, at 8/13 with Coral). Frickley Athletic away at Marine (11/5 widespread) Man for man, Marine are the better side, but Frickley are proving to be a spirited and dogged side at the moment, and it might be a good time to be meeting Kevin Lynch's pleasingly attractive side, who sometimes have the odd blip at home and are facing life with a smaller squad. Frickley are as rugged as ever but they have some experience in the side and can mix up the long game with some passing. Peter Knox and Ollie Ryan are a decent partnership up front and if they show enough ambition - the 2-2 draw at Chester suggests they might - then they can do well at a decent, if not mouth-watering, price. Elsewhere in the Northern, 8/11 Mickleover Sports are a decent price against Burscough, who appeared to be turning some sort of a corner until they ran into Bamber Bridge this week and lost 5-0 in the league cup. I also think Rushall Olympic probably have the edge over a rudderless Stocksbridge Park Steels, but half-decent showings by Park Steels against Chorley and BPA have put me off that one. Just Wealdstone, Frickley and Met Police in the double for me so far.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Nov 19 I've been watching several of the recent Stourbridge matches, including last week-ends 3-3 FA Cup draw at Plymouth. I try to avoid betting on my own team but the 10/11 on Stourbridge seems generous for this Saturday's game at home to Frome. Stourbridge have a 5-1-0 home league record and although have had two draws recently against Kendal (FA Trophy) and a young Birmingham side in the Bham Senior Cup, had previously won 9 straight home games in all competitions. The side look full of goals at the moment. They will be missing right back Paul McCone and winger Aaraon Drake, but should still have enough the see off Frome, who have lost there last 2 league games 3-1 and whose recent record in all competitions is mediocre. The only potential issue is the impending cup replay against Plymouth this Tuesday, but I feel there is such a spirit in the squad and around the club that they will still put on a performance on Saturday. There should be a large crowd on Saturday given that vouchers are being issued for the Plymouth replay - last Saturday we took nearly 900 supporters to the Plymouth.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Nov 19 Anyone thinking of having a look at Kingstonian at Margate should note that Alan Dowson will not be in charge as he is "recovering from a health issue." Billericay are in good away form this season (7 wins out of 8) and current overall form is good. Hendon are slipping after a good start and their home form is mediocre. Looks ok to me at 6/4 with a number of companies. AFC Hornchurch are also in a good run of form and their away form is decent. Hastings have certainly improved this season but home form is average. 10/11 with betfred is fair imho.

Re: England > Weekend > Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Nov 19 I agree with the thoughts about Hendon and Hastings, Bobby. Hendon are suffering from squad changes and injuries, which has led them to sign Darren Currie and Frank Sinclair. They both started on Tuesday and if Junior Lewis - filling a gap on the bench - had got on, too, it would have been one of the oldest line-ups ever seen in the Ryman.
