Oops 2nd today, squeaky bum time.

Sir Gerhard 15.25 Gowran Park 10 Pts Win @ 1\9 (bog)

Smart winner at 21f over hurdles. 4/7, 10½ lengths third of 5 to Mighty Potter in Champion Novices' Hurdle at Punchestown (16.4f, good to soft) when last seen. Off 9 months. Every inch a chaser and can make a successful start.

William Cody 15.35 Doncaster 10 Pts Win @ 6\5 (bog)

Already a much better chaser than hurdler, gaining his second win over 20f at Huntingdon on Boxing Day. Will continue his progress and looks to have found good opportunity to defy 9 lb rise.

3rd today :wall

Epatante 14.05 Doncaster 11 Pts Win @ 2\7 (bog)

Well-established, classy mare, who has run with credit behind stablemate Constitution Hill in Fighting Fifth and Christmas Hurdle on her last two outings. Should get back to winning ways in the absence of that rival.

Strong Leader 15.00 Southwell 11 Pts Win @ 4\5 (bog)

Looked highly promising in bumpers and impressively made it 2-2 in this sphere in 2m1f Ainteree novice 57 days ago. Open to more improvement. Major claims despite conceding weight all round.

Poncho 14.40 Plumpton 11 Pts Win @ 4\5 (bog)

Promise on both outings in bumpers and went like the best horse at the weights sent hurdling when runner-up at Wincanton (15.2f, soft) 23 days ago, despite looking a bit ungainly under pressure. Obvious player.

Teddy Blue 13.50 Lingfield 11 Pts Win @ 4\11 (bog)

Easy winner at Fontwell in November, only to be disqualified for recording a positive sample. Free-going tendencies proved a flaw again when third at Newbury on handicap debut in November, Needs to settle but sets the very clear standard.

Jackpot De Choisel  12.45 Ayr 11 Pts Win @ 1\2 (bog)

Successful on his sole Flat outing in France last summer (sold for €200,000) and shaped with plenty of encouragement on hurdling debut when third of 14 at Fairyhouse 6 weeks ago. Has been found an excellent opportunity.

Famous Clermont 16.10 Wincanton 11 Pts Win @ 4\5 (bog)

Winning start over regulation fences in a 3m Exeter hunter in March. Pulled up in hunter at Cheltenham since but is a prolific performer between the flags and merits respect.

Credo 15.40 Catterick 3 Pts Win @ 5\6 (bog)

Point winner reached a fair level over hurdles but is already a vastly better chaser, scoring at Chepstow in November. Shaped well at Hereford next time and looks likely to resume winning ways down in class.

2nd yesterday

Galopin Des Champs 15.05 Leopardstown 2 Pts Win @ 1\3 (bog)

Grade 1 winning hurdler who has developed into a top-class chaser, winning his third Grade 1 in this sphere in John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase on return. Stayed this far over hurdles and will prove very hard to beat.

Blue Lord 14.10 Leopardstown 1 Pt Win @ 1\4 (bog)

Top-class chaser whose only defeat in 7 starts over fences came when third in Arkle at Cheltenham last season. Established himself as a force to be reckoned with in this division when beating a strong field in Paddy's Rewards Club Chase over C&D in December so rates as the one to beat.

Poetic Music 14.45 Carlisle 4 Pts Win @ 4\7 (bog)

Fairly useful in bumpers last season and made perfect start over hurdles at Ludlow in November. Cracking efforts in defeat since and while this trip isn't certain to suit, she's still very much the one to beat.

Queens Gamble 15.45 Market Rasen 5 Pts Win @ 8\13 (bog)

Has looked a class act in winning both her starts to date at Cheltenham, forging clear to score easily at this level in November. Could take high rank in this division and can defy a penalty here.

Lot of Joy 15.20 Fairyhouse 6 Pts Win @ 1\5 (bog)

Useful Flat winner. Yet to match that level over hurdles but again shaped well when second of 20 in maiden at Leopardstown (20f, soft) 42 days ago, collared close home. Open to further improvement and sets a clear standard.

Hullnback 15.25 Doncaster 6 Pts Win @ 1\6 (bog)

Made a ready winning debut in a Chepstow bumper last season and confirmed the promise of his hurdling debut given a more positive ride when scoring at Haydock (15.6f) just over 10 weeks ago. Open to further improvement so rates as the one to beat.

Jonbon 14.40 Warwick 6 Pts Win @ 2\11 (bog)

His only defeat under Rules came when bumping into stablemate Constitution Hill in last season's Supreme at Cheltenham. Beat Monmiral on his C&D chase debut/return and followed up in impressive style in Grade 1 Henry VIII at Sandown. Should take all the beating again.

Lac De Constance 14.00 Exeter 6 Pts Win @ 4\9 (bog)

Unbeaten over hurdles last season and easily made a winning start over fences in a Kempton novice (2¼m) in November. Going well when unseating in Grade 2 Wayward Lad back there over Christmas. Remains a very smart prospect and this looks a good opening up in trip.

Creative Control 13.45 Catterick 7 Pts Win @ 2\7 (bog)

Dual hurdles winner last season and stepped up on previous chase form when scoring in ready fashion at Musselburgh (23.8f) in December. Runner-up over the same C&D both subsequent starts (off this mark) and likely to prove too strong for Fiston du Mou.

Since Day One 13.40 Wetherby 8 Pts Win @ 4\7 (bog)

Multiple winner over hurdles last season and has bagged 2 novice handicap chases this term. Ran as well as could be expected when 14 lengths third in Doncaster Grade 2 latest. First outing beyond 2m under Rules but was placed in 3m points at the start of career. Leading form claims.

** Surely I will eventually pick a winner of a two horse race :$

2nd today :@

Hometown Hero 14.00 Leicester 9 Pts Win @ 4\11 (bog)

Irish point/novice hurdle winner who produced best effort to date when runner-up in a Uttoxeter handicap chase (20f) 3 weeks ago, edged out on line but clear of remainder. The one to beat on that evidence with cheekpieces again enlisted.

Bold Endeavour 13.50 Ascot 9 Pts Win @ 1\2 (bog)

Quick Draw 13.30 Newbury 10 Pts Win @ 1\2 (bog)

Scored twice over hurdles for Tom Lacey last term and has gradually found his form for this stable, winning handicap chases around 21f at Uttoxeter and Kempton on his last 2 outings. Raised another 8 lb but there may be more to come.

Altobelli 13.45 Carlisle 10 Pts Win @ 4\7 (bog)

Promising sort who won his sole start in bumpers and made a successful debut in this sphere when taking 15-runner novice at Ffos Las (15.8f, heavy, 5/4) 60 days ago, pushed out. Likely more to come and holds leading claims.
