Re: Short Priced Favs Crowning Jewel 14.00 Carlisle 3 pt Win @ 1.73 (BOG) CROWNING JEWEL boosts rock-solid form and will be fancied to land today's opener. He readily beat Bury Parade (who has won twice since) in a bumper here in October and the form of his third over hurdles at Catterick last time was given a massive boost with the winner, Bourne, landing a competitive handicap hurdle at Ascot on Saturday (second has also won two races since). South Leinster wasn't disgraced behind subsequent Grade 2 winner Brindisi Breeze at Newcastle and rates the biggest threat, while Big Occasion has questions to answer after his disappointing Huntingdon effort.

Re: Short Priced Favs Qaspal Lost One lucky lady 16.20 Warwick 5Pt Win @ 1.5 (BOG) It's difficult to look past ONE LUCKY LADY. This useful Flat performer confirmed promise shown on her hurdling debut when effortlessly scoring at Folkestone latest and a repeat performance should see her complete the double. Captain Loui has shown enough in previous starts to suggest that he can mount a bold bid, while Miss Exhibitionist placed in three of her nine starts on the level and cannot be ruled out first time under Rules for an in-form Alan King stable.

With C&D-winning form already in the book, Rebecca Curtis' gelded son of Oscar will undoubtedly appreciate the drop in class having contested the Grade 1 Feltham Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day last year. Golden Chieftain rates pick of the remainder.

Re: Short Priced Favs Barbers Shop 16.15 Fontwell 5 Pt Win @ 1.44 (BOG) It was back in 2009 that BARBERS SHOP finished third in the King George won by Kauto Star and he landed his first success under Rules since December 2008 when easily landing a Fakenham hunter chase earlier this month. This is tougher for the Royal runner but he will be hard to beat at this level if retaining a reasonable proportion of his previous ability. Former decent hurdler Hills Of Aran is progressing fairly well in these contests and looks the main danger to the selection about whom there remains a stamina query. Palypso De Creek looks next best.

Charlie Mann's eight-year-old has effortlessly won similar events in both starts so far this season and can continue the winning pattern today, barring accidents. Strawberry Villa failed to complete in a couple of outings between the flags and looks up against it on her NH debut, leaving Cecily Parsley and She's Jolly to scrap it out for second place.

Re: Short Priced Favs Findlays Find 16.30 leicester 3 Pt Win @ 1.36 (BOG) Having thrived on the point-to-point scene prior to his debut under Rules, FINDLAY'S FIND is very tough to oppose despite having displayed jumping frailties at Cheltenham last May. This son of Medicean was contesting the Point-To-Point Championship Final Hunters' Chase on that occasion but unshipped Nick Williams at the 15th fence when not without a chance. If his jumping issues have been addressed at home, he should take all the beating in this, although Twiga Woods and Trifollet aren't just here to make up the numbers.

Re: Short Priced Favs Findlays Find Fell Kudu Country 2 Pt Win @ 1.25 (BOG) There should be no need to look past KUDU COUNTRY, who finished a distance clear of the remainder when pushing Eradicate all the way over C&D last month. That effort should have have restored his confidence after a fall at Haydock previously and there is nothing of Eradicate's class in opposition today. L'Eldorado has failed to land a blow the last twice but tasted success over fences at Hexham in October and should give the selection more to think about than Nosecond Chance.

Re: Short Priced Favs Akarshan 15.10 Taunton 1Pt Win @ 1.62 (BOG) It's very hard to look past AKARSHAN here. He appeared to benefit from the application of a visor when beating an in-form Esteem at Ludlow last time and a 7lb penalty shouldn't be enough to stop him if the headgear works again. Roanstar looks the most likely danger on the back of his chasing debut second at Leicester a couple of weeks ago, while past C&D scorer Cantabilly could prove best of the remainder.

Re: Short Priced Favs Tante Sissi 15.40 Doncaster 4 Pt Win @ 1.2 (BOG) TANTE SISSI has been handed a great opportunity to open her account over timber and, having gone agonisingly close in a novice handicap event at Sandown last month, she shouldn't have to come out of first gear to land this prize. Her rivals have plenty to find on official figures but Whichever looks the main threat having shaped with promise at Leicester on her bow over timber, while Bollin Tahini is another interesting quantity.

Re: Short Priced Favs Medinas 14.15 Hereford 6 Pt Win @ 2.25 Alan King has a very strong team of novice hurdlers this term and his MEDINAS is expected to go close here if running anywhere near to his official mark of 122. The selection was a beaten favourite on good ground at Leicester latest but this slower surface and the return of Robert Thornton in the saddle should see him in a better light. Twirling Magnet is penalised for his recent victory at Sandown but also merits consideration along with Rainbow Haze, who could improve for this stiffer test.

Re: Short Priced Favs Rhymers Ha' 14.20 Newcastle 3 Pts Win @ 1.44 (BOG) RHYMERS HA' appears to have been found a great opportunity to open his account. He stepped up on a promising debut over hurdles when chasing home Triumph Hurdle entry Lyvius at Kelso last time and further improvement should see him go one better this afternoon. Talkin Thomas could pose the biggest threat on his hurdling bow after shaping with plenty of promise in two bumper appearances, while Victor Hewgo has each-way claims.

The 7-y-o hasn't proved the easiest to catch right but he impressed when winning easily at Uttoxeter back in November and wasn't disgraced at Chepstow last time. Timmies Gone has struggled in two starts under Rules and it is hard to envisage him giving the selection much of a race with Sleeping Volcano up against it returning from a mammoth spell on the sidelines.

Catch The Rascal's task is enormous and reflected by the gaping chasm between his official rating with the favourite. A greater danger is Chilli Rose, who could try to steal this race from the front under Robert Thornton if taking up the running in this small field.

Re: Short Priced Favs Whizzaar 16.50 Taunton 5 Pt Win @ SP The 131-rated WHIZZAAR certainly sets the standard and, with C&D-winning form already in the book, the veteran is likely to prove a tough nut to crack. He hasn't been seen since landing a similar race here over a year ago but goes well fresh and should have enough class when push comes to shove. Last year's winner King Cyrus must enter calculations, while Armoury House would be interesting if putting his best foot forward.

Her Grade 1 victories over 3m at the past two Punchestown Festivals are further testament to her brilliance and although not sighted since last April, she defied the same layoff when scoring by 10 lengths 12 months ago and clearly goes well fresh. Alasi was a well-held fourth last year but has improved since, landing two novice chases and a Grade 2 hurdle at Doncaster last time out, and she looks a good each-way option. Kentford Grey Lady might be able to reverse Ascot form with Violin Davis over this shorter trip, while Swincombe Flame is a progressive performer who will appreciate a return to better ground. French import Terre Du Vent is a fascinating outsider, despite lining up on the back of a Kempton fall when making her UK debut last month.
