Re: Short Priced Favs Chartreux 15.45 Towcester 21 Pt Win @ 1.67 (BOG) CHARTREUX held a three-length advantage when crashing out at the 14th fence on his chasing debut at Hereford earlier this month and, providing that nasty experience hasn't dented his confidence, he should make amends. Universal Soldier, a two-time hurdle winner, looks the only possible danger on his first start for Charlie Longsdon, while How Nice could prove best of the remaining trio.

Re: Short Priced Favs Ashbrittle 15.15 Wetherby 22 pt win @ 1.83 (BOG) ASHBRITTLE stepped up on a promising debut over hurdles when gamely beating a useful sort from the Evan Williams stable at Lingfield earlier this month (first pair pulled 21 lengths clear of the third) and, with further improvement on the cards, he can defy the extra weight to complete the double.

Re: Short Priced Favs Crystal Rock 15.10 Leicester 23Pt Win @ 2.10Nicky Henderson saddled the winner of this race 12 months ago and he appears to have another big chance with CRYSTAL ROCK. This half-brother to Grade 2 winning chaser Jack The Giant was a model of consistency of the smaller obstacles (reached the frame in ten of his 13 starts) and can make a successful switch to fences.

Re: Short Priced Favs Maes Choice 13.40 Muss. 24Pt Win @ 1.57 (BOG) Maes Choice confirmed the promise shown between the flags when running out an easy winner on her hurdling debut over 2m5f at Downpatrick last month and, despite having to shoulder a penalty, she could prove a cut above these rivals.

Re: Short Priced Favs Pacha Du Polder 14.55 War 24Pt Win @ 1.5 (BOG) Last year's winner, The Minack, has since gone on to better things for Paul Nicholls and it would appear that the champion trainer is again using this a stepping stone for another chaser with plenty of potential. The 141-rated PACHA DU POLDER made too many mistakes when contesting a Grade 2 at Ascot last time but he made a good impression when edging out the useful Eradicate in a ding-dong battle on his UK bow at Sandown in November and could be tough to beat here.

Re: Short Priced Favs Sir Du Bearn 15.00 Font. 23 Pt Win @ 1.4 (BOG) Paul Nicholls scored with a short odds-on favourite in this race 12 months ago and should do the same this time around with SIR DU BEARN. The point-to-point scorer wasn't disgraced on his debut under Rules when behind the useful Nadiya De La Vega in a novices' chase at Warwick and, while out of his depth off 128 in a handicap hurdle at Ascot latest, he should fair better now eased in class and back over fences.

Re: Short Priced Favs Big Bucks 15.40 Chelt 23 Pt Win @ 1.22 It is great to see BIG BUCK'S turning up and it's impossible to envisage anything other than a 15th straight victory for one of the best-ever staying hurdlers. He's looked as imperious as ever this term and should be more than good enough, with Mourad, thoroughly reliable and consistent, appearing the most likely candidate to chase him home. The Mullins-trained gelding is a fine stable servant and continues to give a good account at the highest level. Dynaste, an exciting new kid on the block, should certainly pick up some prize money.

Re: Short Priced Favs Hows Business 14.20 Ffos Las 23 Pt Win @ 1.57 (BOG) Charlie Mann holds a strong hand with two entries although Dun See Dee is also due to appear at Uttoxeter on Saturday. However, jockey bookings certainly confirm HOW'S BUSINESS as the stable first-string and he's taken to maintain his unbeaten record over fences, having hacked up on his chasing debut at Wincanton last November. Fly Town was lucky to score at Fakenham last time (leader fell at the last when 25l clear) and Alexander Road doesn't look a natural over fences just yet.

Re: Short Priced Favs Montbazon 13.10 Plump 3 Pt Win @ 1.11 Look no further than Montbazon. Alan King's gelding should shed his maiden tag over hurdles with something in hand and it is very hard to envisage Wayne Hutchinson having to get serious with his mount at all. Yet to finish out of the frame in his five starts to date, the five-year-old gave the useful Colour Squadron a run for his money at Newbury when making his hurdling debut latest and a repeat of that will suffice. Edlomond and Victor Leudorum look set to fight it out for minor money.

Re: Short Priced Favs Dildar 14.10 Taunton 3 Pt Win @ 1.44 An interesting novices' hurdle but they seemingly have DILDAR to beat. Paul Nicholls' French recruit scored over an extended 1m on the Flat at Longchamp in October 2010 and the well-bred son of Red Ransom is sure to have been readied for this in the schooling ring at home. Ruby Walsh travels over for the ride, which is a huge positive for his supporters, but don't completely rule out the likes of Plumpton second Sew On Target and decent Flat recruit Alwaary.

The selection fetched 50,000 pounds at the sales following a silver medal between the flags in November and, with the Donald McCain stable continuing to fire in winners, a big NH debut will be expected. Keep an eye on the betting market for clues about the newcomers.

Re: Short Priced Favs Bardeli Lost Lie Forrit 14.35 Ayr 2 Pt Win @ 1.8 (BOG)This is deceptively tricky and only a tentative nod is given to LIE FORRIT. Willie Amos' stable star returned from a stint on the sidelines to make a victorious start to his chasing career at Kelso and his failure to land the odds when returning to the Borders venue may be attributed to the 'bounce' factor. On his comeback, though, he accounted for the consistent Blenheim Brook who, in turn, had Eight Is My Number well adrift when scoring over timber at Perth last spring.

Re: Short Priced Favs Lie Forrit 2nd Cloudy Lane 16.30 Ayr 1Pt Win @ 1.22 CLOUDY LANE is the class act in the race and although he was beaten in a similar event at Newbury last month, he is entitled to come on for that first run back from a lengthy absence. Sixth in the 2008 Grand National, the selection landed the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock the following year and looks a danger to all at hunter chase level. Recent point-to-point scorer Special Portrait looks the main danger while Inverlochy Lad is also worth a market check now returning from a break.

This high-class grey travelled all over the unbeaten Fingal Bay (who has won again since) before seemingly outstayed over the 2m4f trip at Sandown last time and looks all set to regain the winning thread dropping back in distance now. Knockara Beau rarely seems to run a bad race, whether it be over hurdles or fences, but may just lack for a bit of toe here, while Grade 1 winner Marsh Warbler looks set to take them along from the front and has place claims also.

Re: Short Priced Favs Silverburn 16.15 Musselburgh 5 Pt Win @ 1.91 Zemsky won this event last year before landing the Christie's Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham a month later and the same connections are represented with Simonsberg today. This offspring of Sonus makes plenty of appeal having easily won his latest point-to-point start at Ballingarry in June last year, but it's hard to look past SILVERBURN on his debut in this sphere. He boasts Grade 1 wins over hurdles and fences and should prove a class apart if maintaining any of that old ability. Spellchecker has place credentials.

LONG RUN has been forced to play second fiddle to a rejuvenated Kauto Star on both starts so far this term but with Paul Nicholls' great at his Ditcheat base today, Nicky Henderson's seven-year-old can gain a confidence-boosting success ahead of the defence of his Gold Cup crown. Sam Waley-Cohen's mount lost little in defeat in the King George, pulling 17 lengths clear of the remainder as he closed on the record-breaking 12-year-old, and a repeat performance should more than suffice in this contest. Once again the selection looks to have most to fear from the Nicholls stable, who saddle Tidal Bay and What A Friend. The latter was only beaten 11 lengths in last season's chasing showpiece but he has his quirks and hasn't been seen since a disappointing efforts in the Charlie Hall Chase in October, so the biggest danger could be Ruby Walsh's mount, who arrives on the back of a fine second in the Argento Chase.

Re: Short Priced Favs Binocular 15.45 wincanton 3 Pt Win @ 1.67 (BOG) With Grandouet picking up an injury during the build-up, 2010 Champion Hurdler BINOCULAR has been drafted in to take this prize back to Seven Barrows. Although some way below his brilliant best in the Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle at Kempton last time, he did beat two high-class opponents in Rocky On Ruby and Overturn and looks set to do the business again. Celestial Halo will make it a true test and could hang on to second spot from David Arbuthnot's Starluck.

Re: Short Priced Favs New Years Eve 16.50 Market Rasen 3 Pt Win @ 1.62 (BOG) It was very hard not to be impressed with NEW YEAR'S EVE when he made it a winning debut at Ludlow last month and John Ferguson's 120,000-guinea recruit can follow up. He won't mind this slight step up in trip but Hi George has done nothing but improve for Malcolm Jefferson and shouldn't be completely ruled out. The penalised Sedgefield winner Swinging Sultan rates best of the rest.
