I decided to look into the one at TD Garden where the Boston Bruins will meet the New York Rangers for just the first time this season. The Bruins are still doing their stuff, 30-13-1, 2nd in the East coming from a comeback win over the New Jersey Devils, 4-1 on road. For this meeting Boston has recovered the speedy Marchand but still with Savard out. On the other side the Rangers, 29-12-4 have taken over, now leading the East with 62 points (1 more then Boston) going through an inconsistent period where they won only twice in the last five games, last time giving it up on home ice to the Pittsburgh for a 1-4 loss. For this road game they will still miss Eminger, Sauer and Woywitka while Richards despite missing practice is ready to play against the Bruins. This should be interesting because so far Boston has made it clear that their strenght lies on home ice, with a 16-7-1 record and 87:48 goals (+41) while the Rangers are still the dangerous team on road for last season (currently having a better record so far then at home) with a 15-7-2 record and 64:52 goals (+12). Counting the fact the inconsistancy in results of the Rangers I will go in this one with the Bruins who look sharper, healthier, winning 6 of their last 7 at TD Garden. Win Boston Bruins. Counting the fact that Vancouver will have their main players led by the Sedin brothers Henrik (11+41) and Daniel (20+30), I think that they can get a clear win out of this as odds have allready started dropping for this type of bet. So counting the fact that the Penguins have recovered Letang who allready rounded up 3 points for the team in his last 2 games from his cameback I think they can profit from this good form they are showing lately on home ice (winning their last 2 in a row after a 4-game losing streak). With Crosby missing, Malkin has taken over the leader spot for the team with most goals and assists at Pittsburgh. My pick in this one will be for the Pittsburgh Penguins to win it clearly (by 2 or more goals) taking advantage of the instability of the Capitals in road games who so far won only 8 out of the 20. On the other side, St. Louis, 29-12-6, 4th in the West and keeping the pace, ending a 5-game home stand with a 4-game winning streak, last time beating the Buffalo Sabres, 4-2. Huskins will be out for the Blues in this one, while Steen and McDonald are questionable. One undisputed fact so far for the St. Louis Blues are their force on home ice where they are best in the league (21-3-3, 80:48 goals) I`m sure because of the croud support that pumps up the players. But when they head on road the situation chances and they fall into the lower half of the league with only 8-9-3 and 41:48 goals. In the first four meeting of the season between the two, both teams won their home games (STL 2-1 and 3-2 / DET 3-2 and 3-0) and that is no surprise because Detroit is up there when it comes to home ice as well, 3rd in the league to be exact (19-2-1, 87:38 goals) and on a 16-game winning streak. I think in these conditions Detroit is the favorite and counting the fact that they will have only 1 player missing from the whole roster I believe that they can do their home arena magic and win it by two or more goals. They beten tough opposition, where they were always to be the dogs. They shotout Caps, Beaten Phily and Canes, two games even on road. In that game, or better in last five or six games goalie Nabokov was red hot and it seems he is not stopping. Add to that Tavares is red hot with 21 points in last 12, and Parenteau + Okposo just add to the quality of first attack. Leafs struggling, especially offensivelly, won only one in five and it could be motivation for them to beat isles today, but they have struggling goalie pair, Both Reimer and Gustavsson cant put together decent b2b games. Islanders run have now brought them only 8 points behind play off spaces and i do believe they could prolongue their wins, odds are excellent for them to take another one. No major injuries at both. Positoinal plays are pretty equal, both are great at PK, where they hold 100% record in last 5 games, Isles are better in PP, but Isles have major up in the GAA, they are now on 1,4 in last five while socring 2.8. leafs quite opposite, scoring only 1.8 per game and allowing 2.6. But todays game is different, they face Blues who are also playing for play off position - better said for the leading spot in West. conf. So this is the game Wings usually show their potential, and yeah they do have it. ANother intersting thing is Halak, excellent goalie for Blues, but he is bad when playing WIngs, with over 4.3 GAA. Injuries; nothing important to report about. Wings are best home team, that is fact, with 19-2-1-0 in Detroit and won both h2h vs. Blues this season 3-0 and 3-2. I cant see much chances for such depleted team against best team in USA, who are also without injuries whatsoever. Great odds on this information. Devils -0.5 @ 2.00 Pinnacle Sabres currently in a big mess, nothing going their way, bad goaltending, even worse scoring and they find themsleves in a dark hole and probably just waiting for a breath of fresh air All star weekend will bring. Devils on other hand good and looking for bounce back game after they lost two hard ones vs. Boston and Phily. I will take the live betting betting the game will finish exactly on 5 goals and when the score does total 5, i will see if it is worth covering both teams to score the 6th. Detroit is averaging 3 goals per game over their last 5 games, and have scored 3 or more goals in 10 of their last 11 games. Over their last 5 games the Red Wings are averaging 3.20 goals against per game and without Howard they are going to have even more problems.
