Re: UEFA Europa League 20th Oct

Don't see the value in Rubin really. Spurs second string were surprisingly good at home to Shamrock' date=' who they really brushed aside despite conceding. Spurs really ran the show, and once they scored you felt there was only one winner. I see a similar pattern tonight, and I think the odds of just under evens on Spurs are probably about right, or perhaps offer some little value on Spurs.[/quote'] FT: Spurs 1 Rubin Kazan 0 The finishing made the difference on the night. Rubin dominated the play and with a bit more conviction in front of goal, they could easily have won. Spurs looked shaky at the back, and Rubin a lot more chances. In hindsight, although Spurs won, I think it was actually better value to back against Spurs because they were a bit lucky tonight.

Sport Football (Europa League)
Event Stoke City - Maccabi Tel Aviv
Selection Stoke(-1.5)AH
Strength 4/10
Date 20/10/2011
Bookmaker/Price Canbet @ 2.17
Reasoning I see huge class difference here. Stoke is Premier League side, which is one of the strongest home teams IMO. They got 7-3-1 in last 11 home matches, making draws with teams like Chelsea, MU and Tottenham, and beating Liverpool. Even with some rotations as expected, they got enough quality on the bench to do the job for sure. With such strikers ( fighters ) ufront like Walters, Crouch and Jones I expect big troublest for guests slow defense. Maccabi are on 3 games winless run. they are gonna miss their captain which is big blow for sure. Away from home the team got 4 loses in last 6 meetings, conceding 13 goals, and showing quite unstable defense. they were smashed by Besiktas with 5;1 in first round of the competition. Also i found information that their both central defenders are out due to injuries, so I cant see them capable to resist to the Stoke style. Stoke managed to beat Besiktas without much troubles last round 2:1 at britania Stadium, so I expect them to overplay Maccabi even easier
FT: 3-0 Good bet :ok

Malmo FF - Metalist Kharkov pick: Metalist Kharkov Europa League ( Europe) 2011/10/20 20:00 odds: 2 stake: 10/10 bookmaker: Ladbrokes Malmo played 3 games in 5 matches and it should affect the team negatively. All 3 matches were won by the same result 1:0. I think Malmo failed in this season because they didn't manage to play games in two fronts. Also new coach R.Norling like to rotate the squad and he was often criticized for that. Malmo uses typical 4-4-2 trying to build their game on short passes and trying to play similar game like Barcelona. However fullbacks are late coming to defense and are often punished for that. Malmo main weakness is defense, whole back line is making mistakes, there is no understanding between themselves, players are making positional mistakes that leads to conceded goals. Mettalist rested some key players in weekend match and coach said that he will put strongest lineup, despite the fact they are playing Shaktar on Sunday. Metalist have better players and should make use of weak spots in Malmo back line. Kharkov star signing S.Blanco (they paid 8.7 mln Euro for him) could get some minutes today. Metalist is in excellent form right now they should win today.
FT: Malmo 1 Metalist 4 :ok

Re: UEFA Europa League 20th Oct

A couple of early prices really jumped out at me. Maribor V Braga I see Braga @2.35 with Bwin to win away at Maribor in the next round. Maribor have been outclassed in Bruges, and beaten at home by an understrength Birmingham. Given that Braga outclassed Birmingham already, at St Andrews, then this looks a big price. Obviously dangerous to bet so far in advance without knowing team news, but after their defeat at home, I would expect Braga to be targetting 6 points from their next 2 games (they face Maribor at home in Round 4). Bet188 go 2.2. Club Bruges V Birmingham In the same group, table toppers Club Bruges host Birmingham. The Blues main objective this season is promotion back to the Premier League, and they have been resting players in this competition. They play Bruges home and away in the middle of a daunting run of 8 games in just 22 days. I can not envisage Hughton doing anything but resting key players in the EL games. They already have 2 games in hand on most teams in the league. Club Bruges have picked up 6 pts from their first 2 games, last time out with an impressive (on paper at least) 2-1 win in Braga. While they may well rest some players, I would expect them to look to be keen to win this match to put them on the brink of qualifying after just 3 games. The Belgians are 2.4 with Bwin to win at home, which suggests that the bookies view Birmingham as a better team. I can't agree with that. Bet188 go just 2.00. Obviously a risk playing these so early, without knowing team news etc, but really can't see these prices being around nearer the time. All views welcome :ok
Both bets beat. I'm sick, as had large stakes on singles, and a nice double as well. :puke Watched smuggly as the prices contracted since I posted and got went off heavily punted odds on shots. Could of locked in profit but decided I didn't want to give up any of my "value". :sad Still, it's all about getting good prices, which I did here. They don't all win.

Must be a disaster all round I would have thought? No gloating of results so thats normally a sure sign..I got totally destroyed.
1.5 / 4 Maribor and Birmingham KO'd me. Rubin got through (just) on a +1 AH. Anderlecht managed to do a job for me though. Still down on last night, and wondering just why I ever bet on the EL at all... :wall

Re: UEFA Europa League 20th Oct

Spurs vs Kazan Redknapp should rotate his side for this fixture. Although its not the best of fixtures for the fans I still expect White hart lane to be full as this is a key fixture with group leaders Kazan. Spurs fans really make alot of noise at home and will definately be aiming for a win. Spurs have some exciting youngsters and although drawing at newcastle in the weekend, they are still on a very hot streak after losses to both manchester clubs. Tottenham will have defensive problems with lack of full backs avaliable but Bassong and Kaboul are experienced and will give Kazan a hard time. Kazan will probably be happy with a draw and i really dont see them winning this fixture often enough to have any value at 7/2. Thus finding some nice odds, i have gone for: Tottenham WIN evs 10/10 32Red, and also Tottenham +0 looks to have a TON of value at an amazing 4/9. Lets hope for a nice fluid and "working" display by tottenham for a nice night for the North london locals.
This is pretty much what i expected from a young spurs side. Kazan played very well and had numerous chances but failed to find that bit of extra quality to put them past Gomez, who himself had a good night. Kazan were the better team, but as with football, you just know that Kazan had to do more than just to "be the better team" to get a result at spurs. For example I feel spurs will have played much better if the score remained 1 - 0 or that they had gone behind. Valdez looks a great player. I saw him at the world cup for paraguay and also playing for Hercules. (tho he lost me quite abit of money beating Barcelona at the nou camp with 2 of his goals!:\)

Yeah I hate the Europa league. Sometimes it's hard to know which teams give a toss about it. UEFA by expanding it have just devalued it IMO as there's too many games and sides can't be arsed with it :\

Not to sound like a total tit after my reply to Kiddo's post, but wasn't it just a case of Birmingham being a better side than a mid-table Belgium one? And maybe Rennes are a bit crap?

I put their failure down to the fact they changed most their side around. Sometimes these things happen in football....maybe Brugge are more interested in winning the Belgian league....maybe because they were topping the group with a 100% record they got complacent.... who knows???

Brugge were trying to win it trust me, they looked likely to get caught on the break though and so it turned out, they were better than Birmingham for most of the second half. Rennes put out a weaker team than expected and never looked that good although prob should have won, their goal was pure comedy though..

I thought it was about winning' date=' mate?[/quote'] Of course it is pal :ok But obviously how to win long term is to get value on your bets, and regardless of the results this time, the prices I got were value. The market confirmed this.

After hearing the Rennes team news I layed them on Betfair, after having backed them before, for a tiny loss. My main bet won which was Stoke but I still made a small loss on the night after Brugges lost. Taped that game and watched it today, I reckon Birmingham played to the best of their capacity, they looked much, much better than in the last two EL games IMO. Their players seem to be starting to gel but more than that I think they just really wanted it and raised their game. Brugges did not create that much but they did take the game seriously.
