Shipsupstreets
Re: England > Weekend > Evo-Stik Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Sept 10 A couple of early takes for me, which I'll fill out in more detail later: Hastings United and Horsham are worth opposing at the moment, and Concord Rangers at home to Hastings (11/10 widespread) and East Thurrock United at home to Horsham (6/4 Bet365) are worth a play. There's a riskier play in the Southern Prem, where I'll continue to oppose Banbury United, who weren't too impressive against Hemel last week. 9/5 at Bet365 is a decent price about an Evesham side who should have Nathan Vaughan back in goal and aren't too far away from Banbury on paper. More on these later...
Shipsupstreets
Re: England > Weekend > Evo-Stik Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Sept 10 Concord Rangers at home to Hastings United (11/10 Bet365, BetFred) Concord's small but capable squad was stretched to breaking point in the mauling by Lowestoft, and I'm hoping that a couple of bodies will return, including Tony Stokes up front, though it's too early for defensive organiser Steve King. Concord are now the biggest conceders in the section, but they are moderately potent going forward and with a slightly strengthened defence I think they could overcome a Hastings side who were woeful against 10-man Carshalton last week and look set for a season of struggle. East Thurrock United at home to Horsham (11/8 Skybet) ETU haven't been able to capitalise on the momentum of promotion, but perhaps that's not surprising given the fact that key players departed over the summer. But the guts of the squad remain, and they look a lot more stable than a Horsham side that was thrown together over the summer and is already being revamped after a couple of poor showings. I'm backing ETU as they look to me a much more coherent force. Evesham United at home to Banbury United (7/4 Stan James) Ady Fuller, Banbury's manager, should be commended for the team's great start, but the fact that he's been on a recruitment drive this week suggests he's not happy with the squad. This bet is a risky one as Evesham are nowhere near top gear yet, though they are looking very decent in spells and should have won at Weymouth last week. They play some decent football and are creating (if not taking) chances, and given my suspicion that Banbury are going to find things a lot harder from now on, Evesham are value at the price. It'll be a quietish weekend again for me, though the short odds about Chesham United are appealing for accas. In the Northern, Kendal are reasonably good acca material against Stafford. Other Ryman plays that appeal are AFC Hornchurch at home to Tooting & Mitcham United based on the fact that Hornchurch looked very good at Met Police last week. I also think Carshalton Athletic look decent at home to Billericay Town, but given the potential flakiness of things at Carshalton I'll leave that alone. Finally, I wouldn't put anyone off Cray Wanderers away at Harrow Borough - Harrow are still getting the blend right in key areas, and they don't need a fully developed and properly organised Cray rolling into town. Still, it's not one for me this weekend as I'm sure they are going to click sooner rather than later.
Labrador
Re: England > Weekend > Evo-Stik Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Sept 10 I've been tempted by a couple of away sides at decent prices. Leamington have brought in one or two bodies during the week: striker David Kolodynski from Hinckley and midfielder Sam Adkins from Solihull. After failing to beat Redditch and then losing to Oxford City, it's perhaps not surprising that they wanted a little new blood. Their visitors are Hitchin who have had an inconsistent start to the season with plenty of goals at either end. We have noted the goal-scoring exploits of John Frendo, plus the efforts of experienced Mitchell Cole in midfield. Hitchin are undefeated away from home so far in the league, and they look overpriced to me at 3/1 generally available. Promoted Rushall have had an excellent start to life in this higher grade, but have only managed a goal per game so far. Their excellent defence, though, has only conceded 5 goals. They rode their luck last week with a 2-1 home win against Hednesford and were reportedly under the cosh in the 2nd half after being 2-0 up at the break. Rushall's visitors, Burscough, had a shocking start to the season, then manager Chris Stammers walked out. They immediately gained their first point against Kendal. Having re-appointed old favourite Derek Goulding as their manager, Burscough then pulled off a surprise 4-3 win away at Nantwich in midweek. (Nantwich's previous home match was a comfortable victory over Chester). I feel the home side are far too short and, if Burscough can continue their momentum under the new manager, they could be a decent play at 4/1 generally available. That's a good shout on Hitchin, Labrador, though I think Frendo is suspended tomorrow for the red card at St Albans.
Darran
Re: England > Weekend > Evo-Stik Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Sept 10 Frendo has been suspended. I only recently discovered this on the FA website but worth checking if you want to know if anyone is suspended. http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/~/link.aspx?_id=D6CA03B6740C4E78A1E74E2493E9199B&_z=z
Labrador
Re: England > Weekend > Evo-Stik Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Sept 10 I must admit I stupidly thought that Frendo had served his suspension as his dismissal was on 23rd August. I appreciate that below Conference level suspensions usually kick in 7 days (I thought) after the offence and not immediately as with Conference Premier and above. Thanks for that link again, addpea. Certainly tempers my enthusiasm for Hitchin somewhat, although I still make them too big at 3/1. Perhaps they will strengthen defensive midfield in the absence of their leading marksman and nick it 1-0:hope.
Shipsupstreets
Re: England > Weekend > Evo-Stik Northern, Southern & Ryman Prem Sept 10 Not much of a day for me, with Concord and Evesham failing, but at least ETU came home. Of the slighter numbers, Chesham won but Kendal failed.
