Thought I'd start this early and see where it goes As you know every year the aforementioned trainer rides all her own horses, with varying sucess nothing is seen of her all year until winter raises its ugly head and puts the kybosh on turf racing so the sand-pit boys take centre stage, it dopes make me wonder if the exchange merchants book their summer holidays by laying all her horses?

Re: The Ann Stokell Thread Last year she moved stables and had a few runners from her new base but i dont think i've seen her in action this year. The star of the show was undoubtedly Pawan a class handicaper on his day given the circumstances , i even landed a tiny bet at 33/1 on him.It aways put a smile on my face when she rode a winner which if i recall was not that often. As for making money laying her horses , i doubt very much could be made , her horses were often 25/1 or bigger therefore on the exchanges they would have been bigger still. How much activity would there be on her horses ?

Re: The Ann Stokell Thread

Do you think she's given up ? She hasn't had any runners in 2011 She had 40-odd in 2010
Very strange indeed might do a bit more research it appears that she might have given up becuause of the constant overwieght she puts up and there are now guidelines in place to stop them putting up large ammounts of it

Re: The Ann Stokell Thread Leave her alone! If she's still training then she's most definitely "living the dream" and fair play to her. For all the stick she got, she did well to carry on as long as she did. I'd rather slag someone off with ability in the saddle who gets it wrong/rides blatant non-triers etc than someone who gives it her all...

The thing i love about Ann Stokell is her love for her animals, she treats all her horses like pets, a big happy family!! Yes she doesnt get hardly any winners, but if you could get the chance to ride out horses in big races regardless of the results you would! She is an inspiration to anybody on how the love of the game should be emphasised in my opinion, you will never see the animal welfare coming knocking on her door (howard johnson cough cough)

Re: The Ann Stokell Thread Agree with the comments , no need for negativity towards her. Not sure why there has been no activity this year , maybe she's retired ? I know she was no spring chicken. Tabby why don't you start a thread on alleged bent jockeys. I'm sure you'll think of a decent opening statement and i'm sure it'll attract a few posters.

Re: The Ann Stokell Thread

It might be' date=' but that isn't the reality[/quote'] the reality is surely that without gambling there is no horse racing at all? I for one wouldn't be interested in the sport if you couldn't bet on it, it then becomes just a load of animals running around on a bit of grass. Might as well race my pets at home on a strip of grass in the back garden if you can't have a punt.
