Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 23 Quite a tough coupon for tommorow I think, but one game that does interest me is Hayes & Yeading V Bath. In terms of the 1X2 market I'm looking at Bath double chance @ 4/6. Both these sides seem to lack a cutting edge early doors but I get the impression Bath will do better away from home this year (don't know why) Obviously Hayes are not playing at their own ground and I wonder if this will affect them. Would like to know peoples thoughts on this one, is it worth taking? Bath are not really a physical side who like to play it on the ground, how will this fare against the style of Hayes & Yeading? What is the style of Hayes & Yeading?

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 23 Well Baths home form was their strength last year and they werent anywhere near as good away from home. They also seem to have really struggled so far this season. Hayes nearly managed to pull of a draw against Fleetwood at the weekend. Hayes also won their only game at Woking so far which Ships watched. I cant say the game appeals as a betting medium to me especially at odds like 4/6.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 23 AFC Telford v Lincoln The home side had a slightly surprising victory over York on Saturday. It seems to me that it was mainly down to the fact that York didn’t take one of their numerous chances, with Jason Walker being one of the main culprits. To be fair AFC took their chance when it came along, which is something they didn’t do in their opener against Cambridge United. Lincoln on the other hand have yet to win a game, but I saw a fair bit of promise in their defeat to Wrexham on Friday night and they looked like a team who were getting their act together and would be winning soon. On paper Lincoln have the better side and if they can continue to build on Friday night’s performance they have a decent chance of recording that first win on Tuesday. For me Victor Chandler are taking a risk offering 85/40 on an away win and it’s worth an interest. Grimsby v Cambridge United I opposed Cambridge on Saturday and it just about paid off, however they put a fair bit of pressure on Kidderminster to try and get an equaliser, and as manager Jez George said, it was their best performance of the season despite the fact they lost. Grimsby are in a bit of a mess at the moment and although they managed to keep a clean sheet on Saturday, they have yet to score this season and are clearly missing Alan Connell. If United can frustrate Grimsby in the early stages I would imagine the crowd will begin to get on the home players’ backs and that won’t help. Again Victor Chandler are going 85/40 about an away win and that is big enough for me given how the two sides are performing right now.

It is a fairly murky fixture to bet on, I just get the feeling Bath will come away with a point at least. Can't really see them losing 3 in a row, it was a nasty defeat at home to Barrow where they couldn't convert their quality into goals and then got sucker punched. I suppose you're right about the value and really I should stay away from this one.

It's a tricky call this one. As most of the Hayes players are new, I don't think playing at Woking with bother them at all. A few weeks back I was expecting them to be the new Histon, but in truth they have some capable performers on board, especially in forward areas, with Nathan Elder and Richard Pacquette a decent front two, while Louis Soares is perfectly at home in the section in a wide role. The midfield and defensive areas are open to question, however, though the signing of Curtis Ujah stiffens the back line. Their style is to defend deep, and when they win the ball break quickly. Bath were poor against a depleted Barrow, so it's touch and go whether they can exploit any Hayes weaknesses at the back, and also whether they can deal with pacy counter-attacking, which is what did for Alfreton. To be honest, I wouldn't bat an eyelid if Bath won this 3-0 or if they lost 1-0 to a late breakaway. I think Hayes's season will be full of surprise wins, spirited narrow defeats and the occasional hammering. They will be hard to predict for a while at least.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 23 Just two spread plays for me tonight. Gateshead are looking fluid going forward, and although they missed a host of decent chances at home to Kettering I'm happy to sell the time of the 2nd goal at Southport, at 73 with Sporting and Spreadex. Southport have looked better organised defensively, but they still make too many mistakes. Gateshead are not the sort of side to sit on a one nil. The other trade is a buy of Alfreton Town's Paul Clayton at 14 on the goal minute market. He's been a touch unlucky not to get off the mark so far, finding himself on the end of decent chances in all the games. I also think he'll get a chance or two tonight, because Alfreton set up as a progressive unit, rather than as stiflers. Darlington hadn't conceded until the late Tamworth winner, and they are clearly a well-drilled outfit, but they were comprehensively bossed by Tamworth and allowed Braintree a few chances. It's tempting to back Chris Senior against his old club, but he's been on the bench since a poor showing at Hayes. Clayton has been on the pitch for all but five minutes of the campaign thus far and looks in livelier form.

It seems the BBC have got team news for the odd game but have gone down the route of having manager interviews, which I suppose if youve got the time to listen to them will probably tell you team news. As you say some team websites are better than others. It could be worth looking at the teams local papers websites as they would usually carry stories like that.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 23 Seems as one of my bets has been called off I have decided to back FGR to beat Braintree. The more I think about it FGR shouldnt be odds against to beat them and given Braintree are part-time perhaps the tough schedule might just start showing tonight. Paddy Power are 11/10.

I could but after some careful consideration it's a no bet. Hayes are stronger than I thought and there will be better opportunities to back Bath in the future. My thanks to you and Ships for the info.

Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet Prem Aug 23 One more spread trade for me: I'm following addpea in the FGR/Braintree game, and selling the Braintree mini-performance at 16 with Sporting Index. On this index, a team gets points for winning (15pts), drawing (5pts), clean sheet (5pts), with 10pts per goal and -15 for a red card. A 1-0 win makes up 30 points, a 1-1 is 15, and the 0-0 is 10. I think Braintree have been overrated after their tremendous showing against Grimsby - I'm not sure if they have that many goals in them away, and particularly against a side that is champing at the bit after a thorough pre-season and a good start. FGR are, as Kevshat has pointed out on here, a very much better organised unit than last season, and the nice thing about selling at this price is that the 0-0 and 1-1 are the right side of this bet. (Spreadex are trading Braintree at 14 to sell.)
