YorkshireFootyFan
Featherstone v Widnes. Featherstone -10.5 Betfred, Bet365 or VCs. 1.91 Widnes have been on a very good run of form, but this is a league dominated by two teams - Featherstone and Leigh, Widnes's good run of form featured a run of 9 games against the weaker teams, when they did play a team of reasonable abililty such as Batley importantly it was at Widnes, and that's the key point that the bookmakers have missed - Widnes are a much better team at home than away, the run of nine games included the following results. Dewsbury 34-34 Widnes York 18-22 Widnes Hunslet 24-26 Widnes They are three of the weakest teams. Widnes have lost their last two games against Leigh at home 18-24, and at Halifax 26-24. The defeat at Leigh is where the bookmakers have plucked the handicap from - they are thinking -6 at home to Leigh and another four for being away, that's too simplistic. Last week Widnes lost at Halifax, a Halifax team without several key players, and to say I was surprised with the way Widnes (it was on television) were bossed for large parts by Halifax suggests they are in for a torrid time against Featherstone tonight who need to win to stay on course for a home tie in the Championship Grand Final semi-final. For the record my figures suggest Featherstone to win by 20, add to that Widnes' being flattered by a run of easy fixtures, the home and away imbalance in form, the visual evidence of last week's defeat at Halifax, and the fact that Featherstone are a good team - the -10 looks a gift. There is also some -8 at Stan James but the price is 1.73.
YorkshireFootyFan
Re: Cooperative Championship Midweek 17th August A bit early to be counting chickens but with just over 20 minutes to go it's 46-6 to Featherstone, surely Widnes won't mount such a comeback.
