Shipsupstreets
Re: England > Weekend > Northern & Southern Prem Aug 13-14 Frickley Athletic at home to Burscough (6/5 VCBet, Skybet, BetFred) A price that will do nicely. Peter Ringcavage has been a busy man in the summer, signing the best bits of Stocksbridge Park Steels' midfield and Ollie Ryan from Northwich. They look a half-decent side, with a more creative and cutting edge. Burscough are probably feeling a touch relieved they are even starting the season, and will probably go at least as well as last term with much of the squad staying, but Chris Stammers has his work cut out. I can't get too excited about a first-day price but my own odds have Frickley at 4/6.
Shipsupstreets
Re: England > Weekend > Northern & Southern Prem Aug 13-14 Brackley Town away at Swindon Supermarine (11/10 BetFred, Titan) Brackley are a painful match-betting experience - they've a history of letting me down in just these sorts of games. However, this season may be different as they have a much better balanced squad, a manager learning his trade well, and a solid pre-season under their belt. Swindon are very much as they were last season - a spirited but limited side operating on the tightest of budgets. Losing to Thatcham Town with an ill-disciplined performance is a poor way to be going into a new season.
Shipsupstreets
Re: England > Weekend > Northern & Southern Prem Aug 13-14 It's interesting to see the variations in prices since the opening shows - the bookies are particularly jumpy at this time of year. In the Southern, I wanted a touch more in the AFC Totton price, and although I can make a case for taking them at Arlesey Town, I think the prices are about right. Oxford City are also of interest, after a solid pre-season with their new signings bedding in nicely. But Redditch United are also building nicely and I think on their day they will be a force under Martin Sockett. I can't quite get the Oxford price to Evs, but gut feeling is to leavealone. Hitchin Town should also go well at Banbury United, but Ady Fuller has got Banbury playing some decent stuff and I think I'll leave that alone as well. One that does appeal is Bashley away at Evesham United. Bash have drifted to 8/5 after a couple of terrible recent pre-season shows, but man for man they look a good match for an Evesham side missing half the starting XI for various reasons this weekend. They look very light indeed. In the Northern, Marine have been drifting, and 11/10 seems like value at home to Stocksbridge Park Steels. Both sides have been in good nick pre-season, but Marine look to me like they have the better resources to call on. There is, however, one definite take for me: Nantwich Town away at Mickleover Sports (17/10 BetFred). Playing Sunday, and priced up as if this were last season. Nantwich, I feel, are much stronger than last season, with Michael Lennon now able to form a decent partnership with Ben Mills up front. Midfield looks a lot stronger, and defensively they've coped well in pre-season. Mickleover have brought in Michael Simpson over the summer, but with Alex Steadman gone to Chasetown, they won't have as much firepower as last season. The price about Nantwich is decent enough. Darran
Re: England > Weekend > Northern & Southern Prem Aug 13-14 Brackley left it late but good tips Ships. I was going to follow in on Frickley but forgot.
Shipsupstreets
Re: England > Weekend > Northern & Southern Prem Aug 13-14 Decent enough day, though with Nantwich still a runner until tomorrow I won't crow too much yet!
