Tennis - June 6-12

Recommended Posts

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 1) Sofia Arvidsson -2.5 vs Barbora Zahlavova Strycova. 1.91 @ Pinnacle (7/10) LOSS 2) Andrea Hlavackova 2bt Jill Craybas. 1.87 @ Pinnacle (5/10) WIN 3) Christina McHale +3 vs Anastasia Rodionova. 1.99 @ Pinnacle (4/10) WIN 2/3 for today. Unfortunately Arvidsson did not show. Around 40 unforced errors in two short sets tells the story.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Mahut looks gone to be honest, injury problems with him which is f*cking frustrating to say the least, only hope is Verdasco beats himself. Have taken a final one today, backing another Frenchman, not to be advised. Michael Berrer vs Jo-Wilfried Tsonga- Tsonga -4.5 handicap- 11/10 Bet365- (4/10) Berrer has only played two matches in total on grass over the past couple of years, losing both and although the majority of the match may be tight, I do expect Tsonga to motor in parts and show his quality. He's a player I like on the quicker surfaces, with his big serve and all round complete game. Only thing that worries me with the Frenchman is his fitness and attitude at times, but he won't have to do a load of running in this one and he'll want a few wins this week to give him some form going into Wimbledon, after losing that epic with Wawrinka in Paris. If his serve is what it can be, Berrer shouldn't be able to do much on it and depending on who serves, one break a set could be enough for the handicap but I expect Tsonga to be solid in this one.

Another WIN :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana :nana
Just a quick word on your write ups. Not sure if it's just me or others feel the same but the fact you do your tips in huge bold lettering, then once they come through putting some eccentric quote up about how you won is starting to annoy me. It you're doing it for recognition, then maybe go about your business quietly then people may start to appreciate your input more. But what you do at the minute is just plain annoying and slightly desperate. You don't see others on the site do it, and your tips are no more important than any others. Remember that please.

May take one or two more as well but another quick one for me. Fernando Verdasco vs Nicolas Mahut- Mahut to win- 11/10 Ladbrokes- (4/10)- LOSS
Shame that Mahut was struggling with injury. Saw glimpses at the start that he could trouble Verdasco but the injury certainly hamprered him.

Really didn't expect it to be as comfortable as that but makes up for the Mahut loss anyway which helped a few others in the forum which is a positive to xome out of it ;). Good day on the whole though and gives me a start of +16.23 for the week and hopefully I can build on that this week.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 WTA Birmingham Sarah Gronet to bt Alison Riske @3.530 Pinacle Riske is last year semifinalist, OK, but she struggled in round 1 against Ursula Radwanska despite being a favourite. Gronet rolled through qualies here and caused big upset in round 1 by sending packing Bojana Jovanovski. Sarah produced 12 aces, and her 1st serve points won percentage was 79% (though she was slightly below 1/2 with 1st serve in). I would say that the aggresive play from Sarah will cause troubles for Alison. So far there are no lines for this match except ML on Pinnacle. I shall consider to add a plus handicap later.

Whether I bold my letters or not it shouldn't bother you and the fact that it does, is not my concern. I'm neither looking for recognition or approval, I simply have my own unorthodox style of posting tips. I am doing nothing different from you in posting tips and then quoting them post the result. If it bugs you I would suggest you use the "ignore" feature using the forum's settings. :ok

I have had the same issues all week. Quite annoying because the website is a bible for figuring out some good bets.

Thanks fishy lost with your other tip but made money back and small profit with tsonga.:ok that seemed to easy.
No probs mate, glad you made a little profit out of it. Was frustrating with Mahut due to him having an injury but Tsonga made up for it.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 heather watson to beat misaki doi at 4-6 with boylesports 3 points! very surprised with this price....i think it might even be a mistake! class difference here...watson is a confident ballsy up-and -coming brit.....she's a class above doi who while appears to have found form of late shouldnt be good enough to beat watson on her favourite surface in front of her hoem crowd whilst being full of confidence after her second round showing at the french after qualifiers! the watson forehand to reak havoc and doi to break down under pressure as watson moves her around the court.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Few odds up as yet for Wednesday, so having just one thus far. Sabine Lisicki -2.5 vs Kirsten Flipkens. 1.85 @ Nordicbet (6/10) Lisicki with her usual struggles and double faults in the first round against Krumm. The Japanese veteran is very crafty player which can not be said about Flipkens. She can play some tennis on grass but I expect her to have problems against Lisicki. She had yet another horrible injury in Paris but she is coming back once again and has got fantastic memories about playing on grass. She made Wimbledon quarters couple years ago. She definitely will get past Flipkens today and 2.5 games is really not that much to cover. Can't see two tie-breaks here, so even 6-4, 7-6 will do the job. Lisicki crushed Flipkens 2 and 2 on clay two years ago, should be a bit closer on grass but still a win for the German player.

Re: Tennis - June 6-12 Rebecca Marino 2-0 vs Rika Fujiwara. 1.90 @ Bet365 (4/10) Not a fan of straight sets wins in WTA but feel like this is the one that will happen. Marino has got very good serve and that is very important on grass. She got an easy win in round 1 against South, beating the local player 6-4, 6-1. Don't think it will be much different against Fujiwara. The Japanese player is old and ranked outside Top 200. She mainly plays on ITF circuit and basically is not ready for this level. She was lucky with a draw in the opening round playing another player outside Top 200 in Perrin. Marino should outserve her and get an easy W, expect it to be 2-0 for the Canadian player.

Hewitt vs L Mayer - Gerry Webber Open (Halle) - Hewitt 2-0 - 8/11 - Paddy Power - Strength 9.5/10 - Moderately big stakes

Grass court specialist Leyton Hewitt comes up against a lucky loser from the qualifiers for the tournament, Leonardo Mayer. Mayer lost to World Ranked number 206 Cedrik-Marcel Stebe. This is far from Mayer's best surface and whilst he may possess a big serve that is well complimented on the grass, his inability to deal with sliced balls that will skid speedily across this surface is something that stands out for me. Taking this point in mind he'll be up against someone who is renownd for maneuvering the ball and his opponent in tandem around the court, from side to side , changing up play and then unleashing on the easy winner into the open court. Hewitt's experience and guile will see him home quite comfortably in an easy 2 set victory.

Cilic vs Clement - Aegon Championships (Queens) - Clement - 7/4 - Paddy Power - Strength 5/10 - Small to Medium stakes

This match up see's grass court veteren Armond Clement up against the insanely eratic and in-convincing Cilic and my god is he in-convincing. Clement comes into this match on the back of a respectable French Open campaign, albeit Clay isn't his best surface and he's nearing the end of his career the guy did the French proud. On to the grass, you would suspect he'd fair a lot better based on the evidence its his best surface and the rallies will be less long. I have always been impressed with Clement's defense and I can see him making quite a few returns from Cilic's bullet first serve (which he is so dependant on) Whilst we've got here Clement a guy that's reached the Quarter Finals of Wimbledon and almost the semi's - Cilic has done nothing on the surface, you would think with his flat ground-strokes and bullet first serve the grass would serve him well, but it just hasn't. You need to be mentally sharp and be switched on at all times on grass, because breaks are that so much more crucial, things can change in moments, this all spells negative for Cilic, as he has displayed signs of possessing the attention span of an 8 year old on Haribo. Cilic also lacks defensive skills, he is very prone to double faults and isn't the best mover, I predict he'll be slipping on the fresh grass tomorrow also, which won't bring any confidence to his game.

Tatishvili vs Ivaonvic - Aegon Classic - Tatishvili- 7/2 - Paddy Power - Strength 3/10 - Small stakes

Admittedly I know jack shi* about women's tennis, but I do know Anna Ivanovic is the WTA version of Gulbis. Tatishvili is a prospect for the future it would seem and has impressed on the circuit this season, she'd recorded one or two impressive wins and runs in tournaments. She's pushed big player's close and I can't see how 7/2 is doing her justice.

D Gimeno-Traver vs P Petzschner - Gerry Webber Open (Halle) - P Petzschner 2-0 - 4/6 - Paddy Power - Strength 9/10

Petzschner has been in quite impressive form and is very under-rated on the grass. He all round solid game suits the green stuff and being @ home is something the bloke cherishes, you could see that in his performance today in his first round match. D Gimeno-Traver is evidently only here for ranking points, the bloke is hopeless on grass and I cannot for the life of me believe how he managed to beat a Goulbev on the surface. Gimeno-Traver recently lost in a masters series tournament to Llodra (a serve and volley specialist) ON CLAY - Now logic would suggest if he's losing to a guy that has a big serve and can volley well ON CLAY, then he is not going to cope with a guy that has equally as big serve and not so far behind as good a volley. Perhaps one tight set but shouldn't prove an issue in the end.

AEGON Championships - Istomin +4.5 vs. Del Potro @ 1.93 (10bet) - LOSS AEGON Championships - Anderson +2.5 vs. Karlovic @ 1.83 (bet365) - WIN
Del Potro had a few movement issues as I anticipated but was still several classes above Istomin, whose performance smacked of a player bereft of form and belief. Anderson edged the battle of the big servers, comfortably covering the handicap in the process. Just had a read through the thread and there seems to be plenty of winners so far this week - great to see. One for tomorrow: AEGON Championships - Anderson vs. Young - Tie Break in Match? Yes @ 2.63 (bet365) This isn't normally a market I'm tempted by but I like the look of it in this instance. Over the course of their seven previous matches against each other, these two have played six tiebreaks. The last of those meetings was in Delray Beach earlier this year, when they won a breaker apiece before Anderson came through 6-2 in the third. Young had big problems with his serve in his loss to Niland at the Nottingham Challenger last week but would appear to be beyond them having recorded a decent 71% of first serves in during his win over Haider-Maurer on Monday. Anderson earned himself a respectable victory over Karlovic in the first round and has won his last four meetings with Young so there's a reasonable chance of him running away with this. All factors considered, however, I'd expect to see the odds much closer to evens on this bet, so the 2.63 currently available seems like definite value to me and I'm having a dabble.
