Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

Vera Zvonareva -2.5 AH vs Marion Bartoli. 1.85 @ Nordicbet (6/10) We've been talking about Bartoli getting tired and that being the main reason for her going at some stage of this tournament. Makarova could do nothing about her, Zvonareva will be, I guess. She has beaten Bartoli 8 times out of 10 and has got all the tools that are needed to get rid of Marion. The main thing here is that Zvonareva can live with Bartoli on the baseline ball bashing and will also go for cross court shots. Bartoli most of the time struggles on covering cross court shots and I fully expect Vera to win this one and also take this handicap which is not that big.
I followed on this and thought it was dead and buried. Unbelievable comeback from Zvonareva - about time I got one that went my way in Miami :cow

Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 Vera Zvonareva -2.5 AH vs Marion Bartoli. 1.85 @ Nordicbet (6/10) WIN Roger Federer vs Juan Monaco. Over 19 games. 1.88 @ Pinnacle (5/10) WIN Olivier Rochus vs Mikhail Youzhny. Under 21.5 games. 1.83 @ Pinnacle (7/10) LOSS Maria Sharapova 2bt Samantha Stosur x Shuai Peng 2bt Alexandra Dulgheru. 2.08 @ Pinnacle (6/10) LOSS Peng crap, Youzhny looked like he was playing something other than tennis and probably made more money than he would get from prize money. So sad to see him do that. Good thing Monaco did not let down. And massive performance from Zvonareva to cover the handicap line after losing the first set 2-6. This tournament has turned into Zagreb and Hamburg type of tournaments (from betting point of view). Rochus to beat Djokovic in the final :eek

Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 Two for me. I've hummed and hawed over whether I'm going to flat stake or use a points system but decided to stick with the flat. Hopefully get back to winning ways here. - Florian Mayer +2.5 games AH (vs Tomas Berdych) @ 2.02 with Pinnacle I mentioned yesterday how I though Berdych was struggling. Not sure if it's an injury, the humidity or general fatigue, but he's not brought his best tennis to the table this week. Always a danger that he might find it here but I think Mayer could be a nasty match for him on this type of court. Berdych does lead the H2H 3-0 but Mayer has waltzed through the draw and has looked very solid on serve. He's a tricky customer as he plays with a unique style and variation. He's also serving very strongly at present, while Berdych has looked shaky in that department. Berlocq and Ramirez-Hidalgo have all made headway against the Czech and I wouldn't be surprised to see a similar sort of match here, where it's close and perhaps goes the distance. Mayer is playing with a lot of confidence at present and I expect him to put up a stern challenge here. - Kevin Anderson +2 games AH (vs John Isner) @ 1.855 with Pinnacle Not sure I make Isner such a big favourite for this. One win over a very average Bogomolov Jnr doesn't make him a world-beater and I think he'll find Anderson extremely tough to see off here. Both men are massive servers but I actually think Anderson is showing the better stuff off the deck. He moves better than Isner and has had a better year. He won Johannesburg, which was quite a slow hard court, and has breezed through his matches thus far, serving and returner well for a man of his frame. Isner has won three of their four meetings but I think Anderson has improved significantly in the last few months. He is mentally tougher and has more oomph off the deck. Isner, IMO, has regressed, and does look low on confidence. Either way, this will be extremely close, and we could see tie-breaks or three sets. I expect the margins to be fine, and taking the plus definitely appeals in that regard, although I would not regard it as a shock if Anderson ends up winning this. :hope

Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 David Ferrer vs Marcel Granollers. Over 19.5 games. 1.83 @ Bet365 (6/10) Find this one a bit short. Granollers definitely can serve better than Devvarman managed against Ferrer and also is pretty solid on the baseline. Despite beating Devvarman 6-4, 6-2 Ferrer was not that impressive and made tons of unforced errors and was broken three times. These two have played couple times before, Ferrer came out on top in both meetings but not without trouble. 7-5, 6-4 on Barcelona clay and 7-5, 6-3 on Valencia indoors hard (final), both matches last year. Also like the look of 5.5 games handicap on Granollers but will go for overs which I believe in more. Tomas Berdych -2.5 AH vs Florian Mayer. 1.88 @ Pinnacle (5/10) Mayer has been very lucky this week. Karlovic was tired, Montanes injured and Almagro was ill. Incredible stuff, almost as good as Rochus story. Berdych looks healthy to me. He was a losing finalist (lost to Roddick) here last year and has to defend huge amount of points. He lost a tie-break against Hidaldo and should have lost a set to Berlocq who played very aggresive ball game. Mayer is not like that and plays a bit more solid tennis relying on percentages and won't attack that much. Berdych has got pretty impressive record against him (4-1) and I can see where that comes from. Berdych for sure will be looking to attack in this match and he can be successful most of the time. He was up at 11 am yesterday and playing that early obviously did not help. I reckon ~ 3.5 hours later will be a little bit easier. I'd take -2.5 on Berdo against Mayer every day.

Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

Youzhny -4 games AH vs Rochus @ 1.833 (Pinny:5pts)
loss Anderson +2.5 games over Isner @ 20/23 (Boyles:5pts) Plus handicaps against Isner seem like a good idea alot of the time, and even moreso now as I dont think he's playing near his best these days. These 2 are all about serve and landing the first blow so we should see alot of short points. But Anderson has looked pretty good this week...serve is working fine even though the courts are not fastAnyway match should be tight and Anderson winning a set at least should give him a great chance of covering this. gl!

Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4

[.. snip ..] Youzhny ... incredible really. Can't fathom how he went from cruising the first set to losing the match. Mentally fragile chap is the Russian, need to pick your moments with him. Berdych looks a little weary to me. Berlocq played well but something's not right with big Tam. This is a nasty tournament for the punter.
Beware of Youzhny when he is putting the towel over his head during the changeovers :-) He probably has good reason not to allow the others to see his face. BTW, this guy is starting to cost me whallalot of money lately. I have him on the blacklist and shall wait whether he wins at least three consecutive matches in which he will be the fav.

Sport Tennis
Event Jelena Jankovic - Andrea Petkovic
Selection Jelena Jankovic
Strength 10/10
Date 29/03/2011
Bookmaker/Price Expekt @ 1.65
Reasoning Jelena Jankovic is my favorite in this match and odd like 1,65 in expekt is very good in my opinion! Andrea Petkovis is very good, talented player but I think that she feels very tired - just as I thought - she won match yesterday against Caroline Wozniacki. Odd was fantastic but today we can see only 2,42. It's not good option for me. Jelena Jankovic feels very good on hardcourt. She has very good service - especially her first serve looks very nice here. In my opinion Jelena Jankovic is in very good shape. In this tournament she easy has won three matches after two sets so she feels very good. Jelena plays fantastic in rallies and I see many break points for her! Yesterday Caroline Wozniacki had many break points but Andrea Petkovic has nice serve and she saved many break points. Jelena is in very good shape - semifinal in Dubai, again semifinal in Doha, final in Monterrey and we can see odd 1,65 in expekt! Great! :D

Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 ATP Miami, 29.03.2011, 18:30, Grandstand after Ferrer - Granollers John Isner – Kevin Anderson Big serving time in Miami, which is quite special, because the court does not seem to favor big servers at all with Karlovic, Roddick, Raonic, Llodra all being out of the tournament by now. Today we will see wet conditions, so that the serve should not have that impact. So the deciding question is, who will be the stronger guy from the back of the court? For me, this is clearly Kevin Anderson. Anderson is just a hard court specialist, way more than Isner, and he should be used to that conditions. He is 13/5 (12/5 on hard) this year, while Isner is only 10/7 (6/4). Anderson won over Davydenko, Garcia-Lopez and Andujar here in Miami, where he is 3/2 in the main draw overall and 7/3 including qualifications. Isner instead is only 2/3 here, which makes his dislikes to that court very clear to me. Isner lost to Nalbandian, Cilic, Gabashvili and Roddick and won to Bogomolov, Andreev, Haase, Serra, Stepanek and Mello this year, but here in Miami he did not convince me that much. He struggled from the back of the court and made a lot of unforced errors which is why he needed a tiebreaker to seal the win over Bogomolov, who should be clearly worse than Anderson. Anderson convinced me here. He is in great form, beating the first three rounds very deserved, solid behind the serve and even more in his ground strokes. He fired 31 aces (3 doubles) in his three matches and made 85% of the points behind the first serve. Anderson comes here with a home win in South Africa while Isner did not archieve anything after Australian Open and he made a very weak impression overall. As pointed out above, I do not see a tiebreak party here with the conditions being very difficult and very slow, so for me Anderson will do it from the back of the court and in the rallye’s. For these circumstances, this is great odds here and a lot of value. Take Anderson, odds 2.45 (Pinnacle)

Sport Tennis
Event Jelena Jankovic vs. Andrea Petkovic
Selection Jankovic
Strength 10/10
Date 27/03/2011
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 1.64
Reasoning Well, as a player Jelena Jankovic is without any doubts better than Andre Petkovic, I say that not only because she is a more experienced player than Andrea, but also from the class point of view I will say that her defence is better thanAndrea Petkovic's attack. Petkovic defeatedin her last game Caroline Wozniack and obviuosly that she will be oevrrated because of that but have to mentionatethat Caroline didn't played at all her best tennis in the last two sets, Caroline has showed some bad signs even in the game with Hantuchova as she has played with a clear much more increased number of errors than she usually does. There are no doubts that Petkovic is a grtea player, a talented one, but she still has a lot to add at her play and playing against Jelena Jankovic is just a so so difficult task. Good Luck!

Sport Tennis
Event Novak Djokovic vs. Viktor Troicki
Selection over 17.5
Strength 10/10
Date 29/03/2011
Bookmaker/Price Unibet @ 1.72
Reasoning Well, Novak Djokovic is in a really amazing form and there can't be any doubts about that, but anyway I have the feeling that he is a litter bit too overrated as the bookies offer already some strange totals for this game. Djokovic has played so stable till now, no doubts about that but everything has an end and I think that playing certain against the serbian player Viktor Troicki his run of impressive results could stop a litter bit. The last game between these two players has ended with a strange scoreline of 6-1 6-0 and obviously that the bookies will try to change the total and come with another offer. Troicki is a player who possess a strong serve and can play very well on his serve, so lets not forget about the essential things here as Troicki is a great player who can always create huge problems to any top player. All in all, Djokovic's run should stopp a litter bit as Troicki should surely try his best to take the revange here. Good Luck!

Sport Tennis
Event Gilles Simon vs. Janko Tipsarevic
Selection Simon
Strength 10/10
Date 29/03/2011
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 1.79
Reasoning Well, a game between two players which are playing some great tennis these days, both are in form and there are no doubts about that. So, from the form point of view in this situation there are no advantages for anyone here, but there is a difference and there are some advantages from tha class point of view and the edge goes on Gilles Simon because overral he is better as a player. Indeed, Gilles Simon possess better qualities tha Janko Tipsarevic and these are especially if we look at the deffensive skills as Simon can cover better the court than Tipsarevic and he also possess a better, a more stable backhand. Janko Tipsarevic is a great player, without any doubts and of course that the difference between him and Simon is not so meaningful, but many times in tennis a litter difference makes all the sense. I won't be surprised at all if we'll see some great long rallies between these two players as both are just some great defenders, but one thing is sure Simon should have the advantage in this one as is not by much but just enough a overral b

Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 Will try one for fun... Alexandra Dulgheru to beat Maria Sharapova. 5.50 @ Bet365 (2/10) We've seen enough upsets this week in Miami so anything can happen. Duldheru has been the biggest surprise of the tournament, she has not lost a set and beat very good player Shuai Peng in the last round 6-3, 6-4. Sharapova has been destroying everybody but it has to be said that she has played too many crap and brainless people to consider her achievement a great thing. Sharapova definitely will make lots of double faults and there will be chances for Dulgheru to break her serve, it's all about percentages. She is very powerful and won't be out-hit from the back of the court, the only worrying sign could be nerves because she doesn't play players like Sharapova on daily basis. Anyway, I think this could be yet another upset in Miami.

I layed Berdych when he was broken at the start of the second set' date=' at odds of 1.34, do we think he'll come back and take the 3rd or is Mayer going to pull it off? Odds are around 1.7 on the Czech now.[/quote'] Mayer's serve looks good but I feel that he might be about to come unstuck. If he holds here I'm switching my bet onto Berdych

Won it in the tie break :clap Top players playing badly against worse players playing well can find a way, that's what makes people like Youzhny and Baghdatis so disappointing.

Mayer's had a very good week and took advantage of the rain break to push Berdych to the brink. Tam isn't playing well, especially on serve, and I'd be looking to oppose him against either Nadal or Dolgopolov next. Isner's another one who is out of sorts and Anderson capitilased, once he survived the early scare of three break points he was in charge. Well done to those who took the outright on the big South African.

Re: Tennis - 21 March - April 4 Hi guys, 1 more pick for the Miami tournament: WTA: PETKOVIC TO DEFEAT SHARAPOVA @ 2.15 pinnaclesports Sharapova is not at her best - struggling with her serve and with consistency from the baseline. Petkovic is in great form defeating Wozniacki and Jankovic in her last two matches and she was a winner over Sharapova in Australian Open 2 months ago by 6:2 6:3
