Zebedee1
Lads, I've been playing poker on-line for a few months, no problems there, just a click of the mouse & your betting is done. But I'm off to Vegas next week & plan to play in a couple of tournaments. My question is (this might be a stupid question, but I don't want to look too thick at the table :o ). If the player before me calls say 100 chips & I want to raise to a total of 500, do I A) chuck in 500 chips & say that I raise 400 or B) chuck in 500 chips & say that I raise to 500 Thanks & Merry Xmas all :cheers
Jezza
Re: Live game advise please. You must dictate what you want to do before your chips cross the line...If you drop chips down on top of each other over the line this is called a "string bet" and will be declared void (your raise will be limited to the first chip that hit the felt - to avoid angle seekers who would watch to see your reaction as they upped and upped the bet). As long as you make it clear what you want to do, and then put the required chips over the line you will be fine. In the example you give as long as you state you want to make it 500 in total, or a reraise of 400 before chucking your chips in then everything is fine Jez
