Magners Celtic League-Aironi vs Dragons

Recommended Posts

I would like to know some opinions about this game,i'm not into rugby enough to decide if it is a good idea to take the Newport Gwent Dragons here,on bet365 they are 1,53 to win,Aironi 2,50,the handicap on the 1-X-2 is -4.0 at 1,90.The first game the Dragons won at home 36-5,but checking the tables i see they always lost away. The Aironi never won a game in this competition, they have 13 loss. This is from Dragons site: Newport Gwent Dragons Acting Head Coach Darren Edwards has named his side to face Aironi Rugby this Sunday at the Stadio Zaffanella. Luke Charteris returns to captain the side, joining Rob Sidoli in the second row. The effective back row unit of Lewis Evans, Joe Bearman and Andrew Coombs all keep their places, with hooker Lloyd Burns coming in for squad captain Tom Willis. Phil Price and Dan Way, who have both impressed in recent weeks, complete the front row. Ben Castle, Hugh Gustafson and Steve Jones provide front row cover, with Hugo Ellis and Scott Morgan also on the bench. Martyn Thomas returns at full back, with Will Harries moving to the wing and Adam Hughes dropping to the bench. Pat Leach and Tom Riley start in the centre, with Ashley Smith and Matthew Watkins nursing minor injuries from last weekend’s victory over Edinburgh. Aled Brew starts on the wing, whilst the half back partnership of Jason Tovey and Wayne Evans continue. Mike Petri and Mathew Jones complete the substitutes. The Dragons defeated the Italians 36-5 in the first fixture between the sides at Rodney Parade earlier this season. NEWPORT GWENT DRAGONS SQUAD FOR AIRONI Martyn Thomas, Will Harries, Tom Riley, Pat Leach, Aled Brew, Jason Tovey, Wayne Evans; Phil Price, Lloyd Burns, Dan Way, Rob Sidoli, Luke Charteris, Lewis Evans, Joe Bearman, Andrew Coombs. Replacements: Steve Jones, Hugh Gustafson, Ben Castle, Scott Morgan, Hugo Ellis, Mike Petri, Mathew Jones, Adam Hughes. For the Aironi there is some players back like Krause and Laharrague,Paolo Buso is injured.I think they have some players not available because they are busy with the national team for the Six Nations.... MONTEPASCHI AIRONI: 15 Julien Laharrague; 14 Kaine Robertson, 13 Gabriel Pizarro, 12 Horacio San Martin, 11 Giulio Toniolatti; 10 James Marshall, 9 Tito Tebaldi; 8 Nick Williams, 7 Gareth Krause, 6 Jaco Erasmus; 5 Marco Bortolami (cap), 4 Joshua Furno; 3 Fabio Staibano, 2 Roberto Santamaria, 1 Alberto De Marchi. (A disposizione: 16 Tommaso D’Apice, 17 Luca Redolfini, 18 Andrea De Marchi, 19 George Biagi, 20 Nicola Cattina, 21 Pietro Travagli, 22 Alberto Benettin, 23 Matteo Pratichetti). All. Phillips. NEWPORT-GWENT DRAGONS: 15 Martyn Thomas, 14 Will Harries, 13 Tom Riley, 12 Pat Leach, 11 Aled Brew, 10 Jason Tovey, 9 Wayne Evans, 8 Andrew Coombs, 7 Joe Bearman, 6 Lewis Evans, 5 Luke Charteris, 4 Rob Sidoli, 3 Dan Way, 2 Lloyd Burns, 1 Phil Price. (A disposizione: 16 Steve Jones, 17 Hugh Gustafson, 18 Ben Castle, 19 Scott Morgan, 20 Hugo Ellis, 21 Mike Petri, 22 Mathew Jones, 23 Adam Hughes). All. Edwards. Today is raining all day long in Viadana where is located the Zaffanella stadium (just to add the information!). I don't know about the strenght of these teams except from what i can read in the tables,so any opinion from who's more into rugby is welcome.Thanx alot.

Re: Magners Celtic League-Aironi vs Dragons Hey man. I personally thought about taking Aironi with a +4 handicap at 10/11 . This is the only bet that would even tempt me. But i'm not betting cause its the worst time to bet on Magners league. Too many players off on 6 nations and the ones that do come back for club duty don't get time to gel with team mates. This is why there are so many disjointed tripe matches at the moment. Leinster are tripe without their star players so i wasn't surprised that Aironi nearly beat them last week in Ireland. I really don't think dragons warrant the 1/2 odds here and you would have too think Aironi at home and boosted by their last week display might even win. But thats just my opinion.
