Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Sport Cricket Event Sri Lanka v England Selection England Strength 10/10 Date 26/03/2011 Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.78 Reasoning Come on England! Surprised by Englands performances this tournament, against the big teams they have been very good. Now in the pressure situation, think they can perform well. Sri Lanka a good side, especially in these conditions, and this will be tough. Likely the pitch will be difficult, and I think England have a ood chance in a low scoring game.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Not the greatest match for me in terms of betting with Mahela not getting a run out but in terms of my outrights, today was a dream for me. Sri Lanka to win overall took a major boost especially as New Zealand awaits them on tuesday whilst Dilshan Top Tournament Batsman is another which looks wicked at the moment as he will more than likely have two more innings to score in before the tournament is over. On top of that Trott Top England Tournament Batsman was settled today at 3/1 which was a nice little earner. If Dilshan actually comes out top batsman at 28/1 I'm going to buss the most healthy and volumetric nut ever. But anyway, if anyone out there won any money, congratulations.

:lol:lol:lol:lol That actually made me laugh out loud! Fortunately for you, Dilshan isn't under pressure from any Pakistani or New Zealand batsmen so he is almost assured an each way place. I hope for your sake, that he takes the top spot. Great shout.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 :lol Getting a few in early for tomorrow: 5pts New Zealand Match Runs Under 235.5 @ 5/6 via Ladbrokes Upon doing some research for tomorrows semi-final I came across some interesting statistics and some that play into the market you see above beautifully. New Zealand's last two visits to the Premadasa has seen them post scores of 119 and 155. They average 235 in their last five matches against Sri Lanka and have only cleared 250 six times out of 19 when batting first against Test playing nations in the subcontinent. New Zealand also have a horrible run rate against spin in the World Cup so far. Their run rate against spin sits at 4.37 in the tournament after 7 matches and when you think they'll have to face around 30 overs of it tomorrow, it doesn't bode well for a big score. When Sri Lanka played New Zealand earlier in the tournament, they won by 112 runs and New Zealand crumbled under the spin options Sri Lanka threw at them. 8 of the ten wickets to fall fell to spin with Murali grabbing four (on one leg) and Dilshan, Mathews and Mendis all chipping in. Generally first innings scores here at the Premadasa are low. This tournament has seen scores of 229/6 (England), 176 (Australia), 184 (Pakistan), 142 (Kenya), 265 (Sri Lanka). I personally can't see New Zealand getting 236 on a very slow pitch that is expected to play into Sri Lankas hands with a batting line up that is susceptible to spin so I'll play on the unders here fairly confidently. 4pts Under 4.5 Sixes @ 8/11 Paddy Power Earlier on today this line was at 5/6 so I'm quite pissed off I didn't take it then. I don't even need to say much for this line. In all the matches so far in the tournament at the Premadasa stadium there has never been more than three sixes. It's not a massive stadium by any means but it's slow as fxck and I've already mentioned how big scores are rarely seen here. We've said enough about Sri Lanka's six hitting power so far in this thread and whilst New Zealand pack some six hitting ability, they'll find it VERY hard to get Malinga, Mendis and Murali away over the ropes that often. I really cant see five sixes tomorrow at all so I'll play even at a lower-than-normal price of 8/11.

I think this is a really good shout and will follow with medium stakes. My only major concern is if Murali is fit or not?? However even if he doesn't play I still think this has a really good chance. :hope

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Saturday was really annoying because if England win then I've cut the total in by a good amount and Trott would be 80% of the way to top scoring. As it is I've collected on the SL to beat SA outright, the Dilshan to beat Strauss one and Trott top England batsman. I'm into -20.81 overall now but with a couple more outrights ready to produce a return, if I can sneak Trott into a place then with a good 3 matches I can still come out of this respectably if not even. 3 for tomorrow. 5pts Sri Lanka -3.5wickets/30.5runs 5/6 Sportingbet It feels a bit weird taking a relatively big handicap in a semi final but I really don't see what New Zealand are offering here. Taylor aside they don't have a batsman with the application needed for a big score, perhaps with the exception of Jesse Ryder and with the ball they're a bit predictable I guess. Their star man with the ball - Vettori - clearly isn't fit. We saw that in the quarter final. They'll scrap like dogs in the field but is that likely to be enough in a major semi final? It shouldn't be. I admit I'm uneasy about taking Sri Lanka on a handicap for two reasons. Firstly they are so reliant on their top order it's untrue and secondly as people who talk cricket with me will know I think Sangakkara's a rotten captain. However it's the right bet taking the handicap here. I think batting first Sri Lanka can put up a score which is 30 too good for New Zealand on a wicket which will surely get worse as the day goes on and if Sri Lanka bat 2nd they've just chased a more than acceptable score down here without losing a wicket yet we've got 6 wickets up our sleeve. Sri Lanka beat New Zealand by over 100 runs less than 2 weeks ago and played on this exact wicket just 3 days ago. Almost everything is in Sri Lanka's favour here and while semi finals in theory should be tight affairs I don't see this one being so. 6pts Under 4.5 6's 5/6 William Hill I can't be having this line. It's too high on a new wicket on this ground let alone a used one. Batting will be tricky on this wicket let alone slogging 6's. The boundaries here in the main are pretty big even allowing for the fact that this wicket isn't in the middle of the square. Sri Lanka's bowling attack is canny enough that it isn't going to get swiped for too many 6's and Sri Lanka as a team don't hit many 6's. This wicket is going to play very slow and I expect it to keep low at times too. New Zealand's batsmen don't play spin very well as they showed when these two met in Mumbai which didn't actually turn that much. Obviously we could do without Ross Taylor being fed for a cow corner slog but if we avoid that this line shouldn't be threatened. 1pt T.Dilshan Man of the Match 12/1 Blue Square This is a big price on a guy who is clearly in top form with the bat and who will surely play a major part with the ball. He could so easily win this with the bat if he can get in and put a big score up but equally with the ball, particularly if he opens the bowling. New Zealand don't play spin very well and if this wicket doesn't turn I'll be staggered. There's a strong potential that Tillekeratne Dilshan could open with the bat and the ball and that makes 12/1 on a guy who was in fantastic form on this exact wicket 3 days ago a huge price.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 15pts Sri Lanka to beat New Zealand at 4/11 with Paddy Power 5pts Sri Lanka -3.5wickets/30.5runs 5/6 Sportingbet Monster play for me on Sri Lanka today - so much so that I have changed my staking plan for it and have my tournament profit on the line. I'm not someone that chases the money/overbets but I do believe in going hard at a play if I really like it. Happens very rarely for me, but today is definitely one of those plays so I am going for it. I just do not see how NZ win this match against Sri Lanka. We will be getting a used pitch for the semi which plays right into SL's hands. They know this conditions, they have the home support, they have the form, and they also have the beating of NZ. The only way that NZ win this for my money is a freak innings from Taylor or Ryder, which I just don't see happening on this deck. Sri Lanka have a very varied bowling attack and have shown previously in the tournament that they can beat NZ. That was with both Dilshan and Tharanga going very cheaply. I expect better from the openers today in a must win game. NZ can't play spin well at all imo and that is where they will struggle primarily as they will be facing 30 overs minimum. Rotating strike in the middle overs is a huge asset against the spinners - one which NZ aren't particularly strong on. As Kevshat has already said - everything here is in Sri Lanka's favour and I fully expect them to deliver. 1pt Williamson top NZ batsman at 10/1 with VC 0.5pt N.McCullum top NZ batsman at 25/1 with Skybet Speculative bet here at big prices on 2 players that come in down the order. As seen from above, I see this to be a mismatch of a semi-final. If that does indeed prove to be the case then we could see NZ wickets tumble on a tough batting track. Both of these lads can bat, and it may not end up being a very high score needed in order to top score. Williamson in particular looked comfortable against SA last time up, rotating strike well and building a score. McCullum is longer odds and a speculative value punt. On his day he is very decent and is a useful player to have come in down the order. Will go after the bowling and will perhaps bat during the pp. Value bets based on my thinking of how the game will go more than anything else. Good luck all! I may need it - nearly all of my tournament profit on the line! :hope

How the fcuk has Sanga got MoM here? I didn't watch it but surely 73 runs and 1 wicket is more than enough to take it, especially when the winner scores just 54 at a slower run rate and takes 2 catches. Just because he's captain, maybe? Joke:@

Captain and the fact he scored 50 odd runs in the most crucial phase of Sri Lanka's innings after the top 2/3 fell. But yes I too think Dilshan should have gotten it seeing how his performance ultimately provided them with the foundation to go on and chase the total they needed. I wonder who decides on the MOTM, because whoever he/she is they ought to seriously re-look at how they decide on the MOTM. :\

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Ended the day with the smallest of profits due to the sixes bet being a dud. No idea how Dilshan didn't get MOTM there to be honest. Was a top shout and it deserved to be rewarded. Shame that. However Dilshan has put himself in a very strong position for Top Batsman and I am guaranteed each way winnings on Sri Lanka to win outright as they have reached the final. For tomorrows match I had one bet lined up that was going to be my backed with my biggest stakes of the tournament so far. India 1st Fifteen Overs (-5.5 runs) has been at 1.91 on Sportingbet since monday morning. I've just got in from Wembley today and go on there to realise the line is now sitting at 1.75 which sucks some major ass. It should still come in but I am not going to get on at 1.75. I'll resist and enjoy what should be a cracker of a semi-final. GL to any who has bets on tomorrows game and well done infamous again today returning a decent profit. :clap

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 That Dilshan MOM was annoying to say the least. To lose is one thing but to lose on the basis of Sangakkara's captaincy when he's one of the worst captains going makes it even worse :puke. Back to -22.13 after the Benn beating McCullum and Oram top NZ bowler outrights were settled. 3 for tomorrow. Chancing my 'luck' with the MOM market again. 5pts Y.Singh's Performance Pts - 52&Over 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch & 20pts per wicket. For me Yuvraj Singh is the player of this tournament and I fully expect him to go well in this semi final against an opposition he has a very good record against. He averaged 58.81 against Pakistan with the bat which isn't shabby at all and even an average knock against them sees this line covered with something to spare. He's obviously got his bowling which is coming out lovely and catches to fall back on. I truly think Yuvraj plays his role in this side perfectly and he's a real big game player and this will be a bigger game than the final in a lot of ways so it's the overs for me here. 4pts Over 15.5 wides 5/6 Stan James I like this line even though this market hasn't been the kindest to me thus far. Everything I've read about this wicket says it will be a batting wicket and that's appeared the case in most of the matches I've seen at Mohali in recent times and I often thing batting wickets lead to more wides because bowlers are trying to be perfect so that they don't get carted but with the pressure of the batsmen going after them they get it wrong. India played Pakistan in an ODI here in 2007 and there were no fewer than 47 wides sent down in the match. 31 of them came from Pakistan and 16 from India. Many of the bowlers that day are still involved today. The other thing I've read a lot about and the reason I like this bet a lot is the dew factor. From all accounts it's going to be very wet in the second innings so the old bar of soap situation comes in and leads to a lot more wides as we saw say from England in Bangladesh. This isn't a huge line because both sides do bowl wides with their left and right arm bowlers to left and right hand batsmen but with the dew and wicket the way it is I think we'll comfortably clear 16 wides here. 1pt Y.Khan Man of the Match 25/1 William Hill I'm taking a bit of a risk here because I'm going against India which is always dangerous in a man of the match market because if Sachin farts in the right direction the prize is often his but at this price I can't resist. That ODI I mentioned above, which Pakistan won, saw Younis Khan hit a classy 117 off 110 balls which earned him the man of the match award so he's got previous on this ground. Younis averages 55.37 in ODI cricket against India so that effort was no fluke. He's a very classy player and in a high pressure situation Pakistan are going to need the old been there and done it experienced pro to guide them through. He's already got two half centuries in this tournament on trickier wickets than it sounds like we can expect here so at 25/1 even though I'm taking India on I think there is clear value in Younis here. Hopefully we don't get stitched up if Younis does perform and we can finish this event with a big price landing.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Malinga pp vs England lost, SL won easily, top bats didn't come in. Big plays won though so up to +31.62 points profit now. 7pts India to beat Pakistan at 1.62 with Betfair I think India will win this match comfortably. India have a brilliant record against Pakistan in world cup matches and appear to be the far better side here. Pakistan's batting lineup for my money is not convincing and you can easily see them once again failing. They have relied on bowling teams out cheaply during this world cup - I just don't see that happening against a batting lineup as good as India's. With Raina brought back into the side India looked a different side in the field against Aus - something that will be important here too. The batting lineup bar Dhoni all has decent form behind them, and in Ashwin India appear to have solved the problem of the 4th specialist bowler. I think they are better all round than Pakistan and fully expect them to make the final here.

Wins, +4.34 for the play and up to 35.96pts profit for the tournament. Going to settle a few outrights:
Tendulkar vs Ponting Ryder vs Prior Iqbal vs Brendan Taylor 4pt Tournament match bet treble pays 3/1 (4.07) with Ladbrokes.
2pts West Indies team to score most sixes at 6/1 with Ladbrokes
-6 points with those 2 thanks to Iqbal flopping and NZ getting further than Windies. That puts my tournament profit so far at +29.96 with my outright bet of 10ts India @7/2 still on.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Just been looking at the final, and the prices are (in my opinion) ludicrous...and Sri Lanka - currently @ 2.7 on BetFair - have been rising since India won the semis. I'll be taking some of that! Looking at the two teams I see them as very even, and this match pretty much as a 50-50...when taking into account the Mumbai factor, possibly a 55-45 meaning that SL should still only be about 2.22! Looking at the lineups, both batting lineups are packed with quality - SL have their top three occupying 3of the top 5 places in the WC so far...India have 3 batsmen in the top 8. Clearly there is no doubting their quality with the willow. On the bowling side, I'd say should Murali be fit the quality is edged by SL who also have the unconventional Malinga in their ranks who is one of the best one day bowlers in the world, and the best end of innings bowler in the world. Zaheer Khan is a quality bowler for India but I think SLs variety gives them the edge. Basically, I'm a little bit shocked by the prices, and I'll happily take the prices on offer on SL on what is, for me, a coin toss. It's not like a cricket match could be fixed or anything :unsure

I think India with home advantage are rightly slight favourites. Sri Lanka also have injury problems and looking to call up Vaas at this stage unlikely to help. Set against that, pressure on team chasing a target will be huge, and India and SL both wobbled a bit against Aus and NZ in the KO stage. I fancy the team batting first to win.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Getting mine in early again. I am effectively on Sri Lanka at 9/4 with my outright on them and I am asking every God I can think of to ensure Dilshan comes out Top Batsman. Only a few for the match itself though: - 6pts India Highest 1st 15 Overs @ 4/5 (via Boylesports) The odds on India switched on me in the last minute last time out and it still sailed in comfortably by 29 runs. I often spoke highly about England being the best in the world at this market but in their absence Tendulkar and Sehwag easily step up to the plate. These guys only know how to play one way and that is to score boundaries. Sehwag, despite being injured put one of the best pace bowlers to the sword the other day in Umar Gul and managed to scored a quick fire 38 off only 25 balls. Even if Sri Lanka make early inroads, Gautam Gambhir is equally adept at finding the ropes. On the flipside, Sri Lanka are no mugs at scoring quickly first up either. The thing is with them though, is that you always get the impression that Dilshan or Tharanga will throw their wicket away cheaply and if that happens, they're fxcked. Sanga scores at a fairly pedestrian rate and Mahela does too. Thankfully, Ashish Nehra is doubtful. He can be extremely expensive at times so hopefully Dhoni opens up with Patel and Khan which should stem the runs as they are difficult to score off. Malinga with all his potential wicket-taking ability can be very wayward at times and I think Sehwag and Sachin will relish the pace. There'll be plenty of nerves about and plenty loose deliveries but I think the Indians will come out on top in this one and at 4/5, I'm happy to take them on. They've done this six times out of 8 in the tournament so far and one of those losses were to England so I'll have this all day long. - 4pts Under 6.5 6's @ 5/6 (via WillHill) Definitely feel this is a touch too high. The Wankhede isn't massive. Canada fed Ross Taylor and the rest of his New Zealand side some dollies when they played here and there were a ridiculous amount. Having said that though, I don't think there'll be that many here. Yes there are plenty of big hitters around but we have seen several times throughout the tournament that a) Sri Lanka don't hit that many themselves. b) Sri Lankan bowlers don't concede that many sixes at all. I actually think this final will be abit cagey. Low scoring. Can't see 7 maximums tomorrow so I'll play here.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Highest 1st 15 overs India 8/11 skybet i think india will score more runs because they are playing at home and know the conditions better than anyone else while sri lanka have not got home advantage so playing on a different ground wont be familiar to them because they have been playing at colombo nearly the whole tournament and have been scoring runs for fun so they have to adjust to a different pitch and different conditions which wont be easy Highest opening partnership India 5/6 skybet the batting of sri lanka has been great this tournament but just feel one of the batsmen will get out early because maybe they are due a bad score or the conditions wont be good for them also the opening partnership of India has been more consistant Most wides Sri Lanka evens skybet the last match India had a total of eight extras so their bowling is pretty good so i think sri lanka will just edge it

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Nothing major for me. Looked at all the markets but I don't really fancy any of them and with so much cricket still to come I'm not going to bet for betting's sake. 2pts S.Tendulkar Man of the Match 13/2 Stan James Obvious pick and slightly stingy price but any kind of contribution from Sachin in his last ever world cup match in his home city is going to see him go very close to this. He's been the best batsman in the competition in terms of consistency and he'll know the Wankhede inside out. Obviously if fate gets involved here he'll notch up his 100th ton and then the rest ain't gonna get a look in but anything 70 runs and above will be enough for Sachin to take the sentimental home vote should India win this.

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Brilliant finale to a brilliant World Cup I must say. From a tipping perspective it has been incredibly up and down but from a fan's perspective, it was quality from start to finish. Who said 50-over cricket is on its last legs? Bit gutted Sri Lanka never won in the end but I picked up each way money on them so it's not too bad. You best believe I was doing some Adebayor run down my road when Tendulkar edged Malinga to Sanga early on to bring in my outright on Dilshan at 28/1! :eyes India romped the 1st Fifteen Overs too and there was only 4 sixes which meant a +8.13 day. Unfortunately, I was in a pretty rotten position coming into this match and a few other outrights were duds so I end the tournament -7.59 give or take 2pts. Loved every minute of it though and there were some quality tips in here throughout. Played to Kev as usual, the rest of the familiar faces in here but in particular infamous. :clap IPL next week :ok

Re: Cricket: ICC World Cup 2011 Thanks mate - tournament went very well for me. Hopefully will be able to translate the form into the IPL - usually a tournament which is very good to me. Generally 10 points is a max bet for me. Really fancied India this year in home conditions and luckily it paid off. Very rarely I will break my usual staking plan and go for a bigger play. It's generally not my style though and I only choose to do so when I am very confident on a play. The only one this tournament was a 15 point play on Sri Lanka to beat NZ.
