kevshat
The new Super League season is a little over 2 weeks away. If I remember rightly there was some quality ante-post stuff put out last season and there's enough tipping talent on PL to replicate that this year. Really looking forward to this season. harry_rag
Re: Rugby League: Super League XVI Ante-post bets and discussion I backed any player to score 5 or more tries in a Superleague game at 4/1 with Hills back in December. Happened twice last season and 7 times in the last 10 seasons (though has only happened in 4 of the 10 seasons). Feels like a good bet at the price. 7/2 now but still doesn't seem bad. Ronnie
Re: Rugby League: Super League XVI Ante-post bets and discussion The stand out bet for me is Pat Richards to be top points scorer for the season, he topped all three charts last year (tries/kicks/overall) and I can't see Wigan not being top or up there this season. And sticking with the Wigan theme I'm going for Sam Tompkins to receive the Man of Steel award, won the young player of the year last year and no reason why he can't win the senior version this year. Pat Richards top points scorer 7/2 @Skybet Sam Tomkins Man of Steel 8/1 @Skybet

leespam
Re: Rugby League: Super League XVI Ante-post bets and discussion Missed on two fancies already due to prices being trimmed so will get these ones down now. Castleford (+20) to win Regular Season @ 11.0 (VC Bet) 1.25 Units EW Castleford to finish above Hull FC @ 3.25 (BlueSq) 3.75 Units Cas' losing two of their bigger names in Shenton and Westerman has caught the public's eye but it's worth remembering they've recruited some experienced Super League players as well. Richie Mathers, Danny Orr, Nick Fozzard and Martin Aspinwall have plenty of Super League experience and fellow newcomers Willie Isa and Nick Youngquest will be aiming to provide some support out wide. Richie Owen hopes to be back soon as well and he looked an outstanding prospect before having his season cut short with injury last year. All in all, I think they may have been underestimated at the lines and they look a decent price on the regular season handicap. The price to finish above FC caught the eye as well which leads me to... Hull FC to finish in the Bottom 6 @ 3.00 (SkyBet) 3.75 Units I'm not too sure on Hull this season. Sean Long's fitness has long been an issue and along with fellow oldie Craig Fitzgibbon, he's now another year older as well. The likes of Yeaman, Horne and Washbrook strike as players who looked so promising when bursting on to the Super League scene but have tailed off in recent years. Joe Westerman also looks a talent but may feel the pressure of his price tag and the continual 'new Paul Sculthorpe' comments which seem to follow him. Sharp and Phelps look solid buys and should improve on the likes of Hall and Tansey who've left but, I don't know, I just feel with the likes of Salford, Bradford and Catalans expected to have improved campaigns this time around, a big name may miss out on the play-offs and there's an air of uncertainty around Hull. Huddersfield (+10) to win Regular Season @ 11.0 (VC Bet) 1.25 Units EW Hudds have caught the eye in pre-season with a solid victory over Saints. Interestingly for any Wigan backers, both sides were heavily penalised throughout the match for "lying on" - a tactic Wigan (tad harshly IMO) were heavily criiticised for last year. Anyway, Brett Hodgson was the headline departure from Hudds in the off-season and they've also lost some experienced bodies in Wild, Aspinwall, Whatuira and Drew. Nathan Brown's brought in another 2 NRL imports to offset that loss though with Jamie Simpson and Luke O'Donnell coming in, and for me, the likes of Patrick, Lunt, Cudjoe and Lawrence etc. will be all the better for the Super League experience gained last year. Brown, Brough, Grix and Robinson (when he recovers) will be all buzzing around as well so I think they could have a very decent season this year. Anyways, glad Super League is back and GL all :hope :ok

leespam
Re: Rugby League: Super League XVI Ante-post bets and discussion St Helens to top Regular Season standings @ 11.5 (Betfair - £75 available) 1.5 Units PldPtsCastleford814Huddersfield914St Helens913Warrington912Wigan810 Top of Regular Season should come from this group IMO. Cas' have yet to meet Saints, Warrington and Wigan so you would expect them to drop points at some stage and Wigan and Wire have been suffering alarming losses of form in the last 2 weeks. That leaves 2 in-form sides in Huddersfield and St Helens, Hudds are in great form but you would think they're relatively new to the Top 4 or 5 positions since Nathan Brown took over. Looking at Betfair, there is currently £75 trading at 11.5 on this Saints side finishing top of the regular season standings - it's less than half this price in places :eek. Now granted, there are question marks over their young halves but they're playing well, they have a solid coach in Royce Simmons and a good blend of youth and experience with the likes of Wellens & Wilkin mixing with Shenton, Foster etc. Simply put, over 10/1 on a side that have won their last 4 games and have finished 1st, 2nd, 2nd in the last 3 competitions looks too big to me and they've been added to my ante-posts accordingly. GL all :hope :ok
