They are in 3rd spot in group A table with 3-2-1 score - 11pts. Great achievment for such minor club, but collective play and strong discipline in defense and attack are the winning combination. I see them as favourites against Boavista, a side which dissapointed me a lot lately, I sure expected more from them but this is not their month, with two defeats in a row they are 4th a point less then Nova Iguacu. Manager Marcelo Viega will miss top scorer and one of the best players in the squad, striker Juninho Quixadá (5 goals) injured, and fullback Carlinhos is suspended. Another problem in defence is central defender Veiga who is not confirmed in first line up. Ituano is in nice stage with only one defeat in last 5 games (Corinthians). The last defeat hurts, but i belive players will back on good track again. No suspensions or injuries. This win sure gave all players needed morale for the next phase of the championship. The other news in home side will be the new manager Fernando Diniz who will certainly go with open ambitions in charge and to win the first time in command. Suspension and injury list are realy big, they will be missing Marcio Gabriel, OtacÃlio Neto, Vandinho, Hernani and Doda because of injury, and in addition left back Gleidson is suspended for third car in a row. Coach Paulo Campos have all holders at disposal, But he admits he can save some players, since he believe that competition is long. But, on the other side, all the players asked him to be on the pitch tomorrow, so we are gonna fight for qualification to the semifinals of Guanabara Cup. resende manager said that they want title of Washington Rodrigues Trophy, but this game can also be used as preparation for second round in Carioca state competition. On the side of Bangu, they are good team, but their manager Gabriel will save many players, because they will play back the revanche in Copa do Brazil against Portugese next week.
