Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 4.00 Southwell: Archilini Ran well on reappearance after over 4 months off the track. Entitled to come on for that run, is 1lb lower and decent price in open event. 8/1 4.50 Kempton: Song of Praise Has been out of form and racked up a string of defeats but as a consequence the horse's handicap mark has plummetted and now looks particularly well handicapped. The return to 6f looks a good move for this horse who is a previous C&D winner running from a favourable draw. Entered up to run again tomorrow which may suggest the horse is in form and the stable are keen to exploit this low mark. Either way think it has a great chance at a decent price. 11/2 6.20 Kempton: Dubai Miracle Looks to be decent pace on here with Pegasus Again and Global Village likely pacesetters. Horse down to attractive mark and drawn well - big run expected from in-form stable. 5/1 7.20 Kempton: Norville Trainer/Jockey racking up nice little sequence of results and this horse has been running well of late at this trip knocking on the door from this sort of mark. Apprentice's 7lb claim may make all the difference tonight and shouldn't be far away IMO. 3/1 All prices Bet365 BOG Win lucky 15

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return Had a little yankee at Kempton and Meydan... 6.50 Kempton - Lovat Lane (20/1) - Half brother to stable's Judd Street who was a smart sprinter and won twice at listed level. Looks likely to be suited by this trip on it's efforts as a 2yo despite it's sprint pedigree. 7.20 Kempton - White Shift (14/1) - Bit of a leap of faith as his last few runs have been far from promising. But does have the ability to be very competitive off this mark if his new trainer can get him goin again. 6.15 Meydan - Imbongi (8/1) - Trained by the man I have always followed in Dubai and more than capable at this level, Soumillon knows the horse well and provided he can put a below par effort behind him last time out I fancy him to run a massive race - looks a big price to me. 6.55 Meydan - Snaafy (6/1) - Different animal since leaving Barry Hills and going to warmer climbs. Very good record fresh and was considered good enough to run in the Dubai World Cup, could have too much class for them. 1pt Win Yankee All prices Boylesports :hope

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return e/w treble Ladbrokes 6.50 Kempton Lovat Lane 20/1 Has never won a race but best run a while last time out at kempton when shaping as though he might need this extra distance 6.55 Meydan Across tht rhine 10/1 Couple of decent runs last season most notably behind Steinbeck. The way he stayed on in his last race, he might just want the step up in trip. 7.20 Kempton Pragmatist 12/1 Put some terrible runs behind him when winning well at kempton a couple runs ago. Beat Nubar boy who has been running well recently. Ran terribly at Lingfield last time so hoping the return to Kempton will do the trick

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 12.30 lingfield Have Another 13/2 4.00 lingfield Raimond Ridge 20/1 4.10 Wolves Welcome Approach 13/2 5.10 Wolves Cardinal 9/1 E/W lucky 15 with william hill Explanations given in other threads for 3 of these but as for Have Another, don't think the already raced horses are upto much apart from Al Jaadl. Therefore I think one of the newcomers will take it. Hannon is very good with his newcomers and with Spencer on board think this one should go close.

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 0.5 pt E-W Patent 4:00 Lingfield - ANJOMARBA @ 12/1 e-w VC Raised 4lb for win last time looks fair, the form of that race looks decent enough with 2 next time out winners. This race shoudn't take too much winning with alot of runners with questions to answer, atleast the selection is in form. 5:10 Wolverhampton - ONCEAPONATIME @ 10/1 e-w VC Back down to a nice mark now and ran well last time out off the same mark. If he can reproduce that today has an e-w chance here. Usually when he comes into form can string afew decent efforts together, worth a few quid at 10/1 e-w. 5:40 Wolverhampton - PILGRIM DANCER @ 8/1 e-w VC Not shown alot so far in his career, but ran better the last twice and if building on that can run a decent race here. The yard is in good form at present and he should be there abouts again.

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 5.40 Wolves: Pilgrim Dancer Give this one a great chance tonight - ran well LTO over this trip at Lingfield only beaten a length. The form of that run looks solid in this grade of race and having been dropped a further pound in the handicap looks sure to run well IMO. Stable in great form too and nice price. 13/2 6.10 Wolves: She's a character Big chance for this one at the weights here and stable in decent form - would be surprised if this didn't go close. 4/1 6.40 Wolves: Ya Hafed Any runner this stable send out at the minute have to be respected (2 winners form last three runners) and this one looks sure to run a big race. Probably shown the strongest form to date of these horses and looks certain to appreciate this longer trip on breeding. 5/2 7.40 Wolves: Jiggalong Taking a chance on this one's wellbeing after a break but certainly appealing at the weights in a weak race being 1lb lower than last winning mark. Chris Catlin booked is a positive IMO and price looks big. 11/1 All Bet365 BOG Win Lucky 15

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return

Regarding multiple betting I don't get why pay for the four singles in a lucky15 surely it gives you buttons back. I prefer to do a yank and a EW Roll Up rather than singles.
The bookies used to have 'double odds' if you only had one winner to tempt people into L15 instead of a yankee..........also they never had pre-printed yankee slips but the shop was overflowing with L15, Union Jack, Sweet 16 ?..........shows what they wanted you to do ! But I tended to do yankees on the same view as you - that you get back peanuts with one winner - you need 2 winners to make it worthwhile, so might as well do a yankee, save 4 stakes and have a free yankee every 4th bet with those saved stakes !

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 12.50 Kempton Chablais, Won point to point in Ireland last year, always an interesting recruit from Hendersons yard if he come here where he has a great record. 2/1 1.20 Kempton Skint, back over 2m today, should go well based on its previous form. Well fancied by Henderson team. 4/1 2.10 Warwick Alfie Spinner, a couple of wins last term and an interesting step up in trip today, got some info on this one today so sticking this in my multiple. 6/1 2.25 Kempton Khyber Kim, this is one of my fancies for th Champion Hurdle and always proven best when fresh, i expect the horse is chomping at the bit to get on the race course, i wouldnt be on Binocular until March and i think the danger is Nicholls' Escort M'en 5/2 Lucky 15 on these 4 today plus some singles.

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 1.00 Wetherby Smuglin 9/4 Very competitive novice chase and you could make a case for each of the five runners taking this one. I am going to side with the Donald McCain trained Smuglin. Has won on all three of her starts since moving to McCain from Paul Nicholls including a winnng start over fences at Market Rasen over two furlongs further. The drop back in trip will not be a problem and the fact she receives weight all around could be a major factor. 3.10 Wetherby lackamon 13/2 This one trained by Sue Smith won a bumper on soft ground at Hexham back in March last year. Has run ok in hurdles so far but always looks to me as this horse would benefit from a step up in trip. Gets that today and goes off from a fair mark in handicapped company for the first time and I think there is plenty of improvement to come. 3.20 Warwick Bobby Gee 10/1 Bobby Gee seems to have come into his own over the last three runs finishing second and winning the last two. His jumping seem to have been greatly improved and the step up in trip will test his stamina but has already clocked up a win ovber 3 miles. 3.35 Kempton Barwell Bridge 11/1 Decent performer and rated as high as 92 on the flat. Is starting to shape up and looks to be developing into a decent hurdler. Was beaten 1.25 lengths last time out at Cheltenham over 3 miles by Lush Life finishing in front of many useful performers that day inclding Synchronised and Duke of Lucca. Drops back in trip today and I expect a big run from this one. 4.05 Kempton Mallusk win 2/1 Will improve for the step up in trip after winning debut over fences at Uttoxeter over 2 miles at the turn of the year. All prices BET 365 taken at tinme of posting. 1 pt Canadian

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 1.15 Lingfield - Lang Shining - decent record in this grade and faced some tough assignments of late, given impossible job in Cambridgeshire and also raced over hurdles. Back on the level can go well. 12/1 Betfred 2.25 Kempton - Starluck - beaten by only a nose in this race last season and had Binocular behind in Fighting Fifth. Holds fitness edge over Khyber Kim and goes well at track. 10/3 Betfred 2.55 Lingfield - Fear Nothing - has his quirks but returned to form at Kempton last time behind Feelin Foxy and looks handicapped to go well again. 9/1 betfred 3.20 Warwick - Bobby Gee - won nicely last time at Towcester having Mr Big behind. That rival come out and franked form since. Handles heavy and unexposed over marathon trips. 10/1 betfred 1 pt yankee

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 1.20 Kempton: Samson's Son Only ran twice over hurdles in career but second of those runs was a novice win over Eradicate almost two years ago. If ready to go here and able to run to anything like that form then current mark of 119 could prove lenient if this slower ground doesn't cause any inconvenience. Stable in fine form and must be given every chance IMO. 13/2 1.55 Kempton: Bible Lord C&D winner; plummeted down weights due to some poor shows but LTO run wasn't all that bad and down further in the handicap has to be given a chance IMO. 7/1 2.20 Lingfield: Geordie Iris Richard Hannon horse who last won over 9f at Wolves - has ben running well enough recently at trips that appear shorter than ideal and in a tight little race must have claims. 6/1 2.55 Lingfield: Al Gillani Has won from as high as 77 and currently running from a mark of 70 certainly has the mark to win. Drops into a 0-70 for the first time in over two years and looks to have a good chance here. 6/1 All prices Bet365 BOG Win Lucky 15

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return

just shows how difficult this is, no one on the leaderboard yet with 100pts+ return i am sure it wont be too long
I haven't thought about entering this one yet, but just out of interest....... If i did a L15 and had 4 winners.......:tongue2........would it be the accumulated total of all 15 bets that counted ?..........or just 'one line', ie in the case of 4 winners in the L15 it would be the 4-fold as the biggest winning line ?

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return 12.50 Southwell Zarius 3/1 Think this one has a decent chance in this. Favourite has been very impressive in its last couple runs but Zarius beat it fair and square a few runs ago. The favourite is worse off with Zarius today and I think this one can improve further on this surface. Best 2 runs have come on this surface finishing 3rd over 7f and then stepping up to this distance and winning well. 2.05 Ffos las Theballyedmondchap 6/1 One of the most interesting runners of the day for me today. Last run was a good one although unseating. Was in the process of running a massive race at 66/1 in a four runner race against blazing Bailey, dance island and bench warrant. Was probably travelling best when unseating. Been off for a long time since that run which is a bit discouraging but willing to take the chance on him today. Think the race is full if disappointing horses and this won't take much winning. 2.40 Sir Kezbaah 3/1 Bit of a skinny price for what is a very competitive race. Was expecting around 5/1. Still think it has a very good chance here. Staying on well behind salden licht last time out albeit that one was eased down. Longer trip here will help. Would have gone for our girl salley at fairyhouse at 10/11 available last night but too short now . 4.05 Southwell Granny Anne 4/1 Favourite was a good 2nd last time over 6f on its handicap debut at this course but I like the chances of Granny Anne here. Showed last time out that the horse is still in form and a return this surface I think will bring about another win. Last run here the horse was stepped up to this distance of 7f won and easily by 5l. Was first horse under pressure that day but stayed on really well for pressure. Same jockey on board today will know what's needed with this horse and I expect it to go close. win yankee with ladbrokes

Re: 2011 Challenge - Multiples target 1000pt return Just a quick question, if someone puts up 3 selections in a patent and another punter puts the same selections up in treble, does the patent punter get paid out the higher return for the purposes of this competition? I think I have misunderstood the rules. Am I right in thinking anyone that puts a patent up ends up staking 7 pts in total, and the one posting a treble only stakes 1 pt? If so, then surely everyone should just say they have staked a patent, lucky 15 or canadian etc, if the size of the stake is not accounted for? Ram had 8/1 and 12/1 winners as part of a treble (third was a NR) so although the returns off that treble didnt make it onto the leaderboard, if he had said he had done a patent then he would have easily cleared 100 pts, with the two winning singles, and an extra two winning doubles (comprised of each horse plus the NR)? I probably havent explained myself clearly here but I think what I am trying to ask in a roundabout way, is whether everyones stakes are calculated to the same level to ensure comparisions between person and person can be made in terms of risk vs return. If someone stakes 7 pts on a patent and another punter has the same horses only in a 1 pt treble, the former punter is having 6 extra bites at the cherry to beat the treble guy?
