http://www.powersnooker.com/ http://www.itv.com/sport/powersnooker/?intcmp=NAV_SPORT7_POWERSNO5 http://www.facebook.com/powersnooker http://twitter.com/PowerSnooker Starts on October 30th. It'll be broadcast for 8 hours on ITV4. The draw was done at half-time during the England vs. Montenegro match. The first four matches are: * Ronnie O'Sullivan vs. Luca Brecel * Ding Junhui vs. Jimmy White * Ali Carter vs. Mark Selby * Neil Robertson vs. Shaun Murphy http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/3176138/Power-Snooker-draw-tonight.html Seems a bit of a mess. No idea who the two groups of four are. I'm assuming it's Brecel/Ding/O'Sullivan/White and Carter/Murphy/Robertson/Selby.

Pretty sure this is just a straight knockout, not 2 groups of 4.

Re: Power Snooker I still have no idea what the format is. Absolute shambles if you ask me. Read there was two groups of four in that article from The Sun I posted. Outright odds from Paddy Power: Ronnie O'Sullivan 9/4 Mark Selby 9/2 Ding Junhui 5/1 Neil Robertson 5/1 Shaun Murphy 11/2 Ali Carter 9/1 Jimmy White 16/1 Luca Brecel 33/1 Each Way Odds 1/3 places 1,2

Re: Power Snooker

The action on October 30 will be spread among two sessions. The afternoon session is between 1pm to 5pm and will include all eight players in the first-round knockout. The evening session is between 6pm and 10pm during which we will see the two semi-finals, third and fourth place play-off and conclude with the Grand Final. From the same Sun article!!! Also, the timings suggest it's definitely knockout format - 4 matches in the afternoon, 4 in the evening:ok

Re: Power Snooker I honestly do believe the promotion done for this hasn't been good. Sky Sports obviously not giving it a boost not even with Uncle Barry's influence and other media mentions have been a bit scant. Match odds: 1pm Ronnie O'Sullivan 1/3 vs. 11/4 Luca Brecel 2pm Ding Junhui 1/2 vs. 15/8 Jimmy White 3pm Mark Selby 4/6 vs. 5/4 Ali Carter 4pm Shaun Murphy 5/6 vs. 11/10 Neil Robertson

Re: Power Snooker

I read in yesterdays sun something about a 20 second shot clock... And double point power plays?!?! Triggered by potting the powerplay red?!?! And who the hell is this Luca Brecel? A 15yr old from Belgium is as much as I've got?
A seriously talented 15 year old at that :ok. One for me in this 1st round. 3pts J.White to beat D.Junhui 15/8 Stan James Jimmy's a decent price in a format which everyone will be finding their feet in. He's always been keen to pick up new formats and I believe he's had a hand in setting this one up so he could have a slight advantage on Ding here. One advantage he will have is the London crowd who simply adore him. Ding's had bad experiences with London crowds before when playing a local boy and that didn't end good for the young Chinese player. Another reason, and the main reason for me taking Jimmy here, is Ding has looked shot to pieces in the last 2 weeks of the Premier League. Missing balls even I wouldn't miss and generally looking tired and disillusioned. Jimmy will be well up for this. It's in his back yard, it's a rare chance these days to perform on the big stage and as I said it's a new format. Without the pressure of serious competition and ranking points and things to worry about I see no reason why Jimmy can't let his cue arm go and win this one. He's no longer the whirlwind he once was so any decent breaks he can put in will take a fair chunk of the 30 minute clock down so at 15/8 I'll take the London boy to make it through to tonight's semis.

Re: Power Snooker One-sided beatdowns in snooker aren't fun (unless of course, the one you want to win is the one dishing it out!). Matt Smith has been corny. The on-the-spot reporter whose name escapes me is a bit meh. Mark Selby vs. Ali Carter the second match on? Winner faces Ronnie? Have no idea. OT: "POWERZONE!!" The crowd love Michaela Tabb enough not to keep shouting it, and she knows when the crowd and players know when the cue ball's behind the baulk line.
