Both teams with impressive runs, JYP winning eight games from last ten (one after regulation) and HPK winning seven games from last ten played. JYP has been perfect on home ice so far winning all seven games (one after regualtion) scoring 21goals and allowing only five goals. Their offense though has struggled lately scoring only eight goals in last five games (four of those goals came in one match). HPK has been impressive on road picking up four wins from seven games. All of those wins are from last five road games. JYP is nodoubt the favourite to take this one but HPK has been playing really well and with JYP's struggling offense I think the away team have a chance to cause some problems. HIFK in excellent form winning seven games of last ten played and Saipa winning four during the same span. HIFK has been sturggling on road so far winning two games from six played. Especially their offense has been poor with just 11goals scored during those games. Saipa has lost five games on home ice from seven played (one after regulation) scoring 16goals and allowing 24. These teams met earlier this season and HIFK won after regulation 3-2. I watched Saipa play last night against Pelicans and they were more than lucky to get the win. Their defense seemed very bad and they allowed many odd man rushes, only Pelicans poor finishing keeping them afloat. HIFK has a great offensive material that has been sleeping on road so far, tonight is a good opportunity to get it going against shaky Saipa defense. Kalpa has won seven games out of last ten played (three after regulation) and Pelicans have lost seven games during the same span (three after regulation). Kalpa has won the last two home games with three goals or more. I watched the latest games against Blues and it was more about Blues' shaky goaltending and then a total meltdown then Kalpa's superior play. Before the two games home winning streak the games were very tight; three games decided by one goal in regulation and two games going to overtime. Pelicans has lost seven of eight road games so far but they have been hard to beat in most of those games. One game ended with a one goal difference in regulation and four games have gone to overtime. Should be a tight game with Kalpa controlling most of the gameplay and Pelicans goalie Hovinen keeping them close in the score as usual. Lukko has won six games of last ten played (one after regulation) and TPS has lost nine games of last ten played. Lukko has been moderate at home so far winning three of six games (one after regulation). They've had problems with their defense of late but their league best offense has kept them afloat. TPS has lost all seven road games scoring only eight goals and allowing 25goals during those games. They got just their second win this season in the last round winning 6-5 in overtime against Tappara. They also chances their coach. Lukko should improve their home record tonight against the leagues pointmachine TPS. Lukko though has been allowing loads of goals so TPS could get some tonight. Both teams have been struggling of late with Blues winning three games in the last ten played and Tappara only two. Tappara has allowed three goals or more in all of their last nine games. I've watched some Blues games and although they haven't had good results they've improved alot and are creating scoring chances: just the finishing has been lacking. Now tonight against shaky Tappara defense things should be easier than normal and there should be plenty of opportunities for the away team. Blues to score atleast three goals should be a good bet. SaPKo has won five of last ten games (one after regulation) and Hokki has won four of last ten games (two after regulation). SaPKo has been a good home team winning four games out of six matches (one after regulation) scoring 23goals and allowing 16goals during those games. Hokki is the worst away team in the league losing all but one road game from six played. They've scored just seven goals and allowed 23goals during those matches. Hokki has been able keep the last two games tight and they've gone to overtime but I have to believe SaPKo's superiority will show here. If anything SaPKo is an offensive team (tied league 1st in goals scored) and a lowly road team like Hokki shouln't stand a chance to hang on. Kiekko-Vantaa has won five of last ten games and TuTo has won four of last ten games. Kiekko-Vantaa has been excellent on home ice winning winning five games and losing only one which was after regulation. They've scored 23goals and allowed just eight during those six games. TuTo has won two and lost four games on road, no draws after 60mins. They've scored 19 goals and allowed 23goals in those six games. The thing here is that TuTo should have the potential to perform better but they are all over the place, losing by many goals and winning by many. Can't trust that. They've been bad on road so far and against one of the best home teams in the league it's quite easy choice to pick the more stellar home team. HPK played well enough but no cake, they frozed totally when they had the opportunity to increase their lead (over 1min30secs of 5vs3 pp). Blues very dissapointing against poor Tappara defense. Bad bet on Kalpa draw, Pelicans seem to take the pressure only when I bet against them :lol SaPKo should've won easily, shots on goal 48-24. SaPKo goalie Lahikainen is the donkey of the game allowing three goals in 2nd period after facing just six shots (pulled after that, 0-3 score). Hmm.. Only thing struggling has been the defense as they've allowed 13goals in those five homes games (two times three goals and two times two goals). Kärpät has been dismal on road so far losing all six games (one after regulation). They've allowed 17goals and scored only seven goals during those games. Kärpät scoring has been struggling very bad in the last few games (only one goal per game) and overall on road this season. Still I believe that they can get goals tonight as Jokerit's home playstyle seems to feed the opponents in term of scoring chances. Kärpät certainly has the material now they just have to peform well as a team. The season's first meeting ended 7-2 in favour of Kärpät which in my opinion might even give the visitors the needed boost for seasons first road win.
