Well, there's a familiar face at the top of the Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League this week and it's our good friend @StevenKing and his Nanakorobi Yaoki team! The experienced maestro picked up a decent 86 points this week to soar to the summit. Interestingly, he didn't even need to captain Erling Haaland or Luis Diaz in his team to earn that points total. Is this an ominous sign for the rest of the league that such a prolific name has taken the top spot so early?
Manager of the Week was a convincing result this week with Danny Martins' Ideas Unlimited tallying up an impressive 97 points. The decision to captain Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson was a stroke of genius and allowed the 0 and 1 point return from Manchester City duo Ederson and Josko Gvardiol respectively to go unnoticed. It was also a total that moved the team into the top 10.
At the other end of the spectrum, it was a return to the dark days for our favourite failure Andy Elliott and his Andellio side. A total of just 20 points saw them take the worst score for the 4th time in the first 5 weeks of action. It is an unprecedented achievement that deserves reluctant praise in its own right! This total has put a temporary halt to Andellio's climb up the table and they are now back to being 89 points adrift of their nearest rival at the foot of the table.
The competition is undoubtedly hotting up. Not only is the big name of Steve King leading the way now but a few familiar names are in the chasing pack such as @patriciamarc's Lucas FC, @dwikyeddo's Cyber Tech FC, @mickyftm32's Mikey's Mooses, @roy keane's Harchibald, @Alastair's Trojan Horse, @Raphael's Nito United, @chillymonster's Chillymonsters, and @Team Sagga's Team Sagga. Exciting times!
The transfer deadline for this coming week's matches is 11am UK time on Saturday 28th September. Best of luck to you all!

Sorry, Harry, I wasn't well this weekend so only just seeing this. I can tell you categorically that I would not back Kanga to score in a month of Sundays!  No idea who on the scouting team saw something in him that was considered "Championship quality"!
  5. Thanks

Goo luck. I considered the btts angle but was a little deterred by them having only just started scoring (drawn a blank in 6 out of 8 games overall).
25% boost not as tempting as 50% but gone for Coughlan to score, Graydon score or assist and 2+ away cards at 6/1.
Also done the Coughlan brace at 18.5 on the exchange. A bet at anything over 11/1 for me.

It's hard to look past Manchester City or Arsenal again this season. Liverpool will be in a period of transition after Jurgen Klopp's departure, Chelsea are all over the place again when they could've had consistency if they kept Mauricio Pochettino, and Manchester United just still feel like they are some way off competing yet. I'll probably put a bet on Arsenal just because they are better value and it feels like they are still progressing in the right direction. Where as City have got a few players who either look a bit aged or not quite where they were with their motivation levels.

The Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League is back from its international break and there is a new leader sitting at the top of the tree. Eric Tattershall's peculiarly named L/S/E/I are in 1st place after a modest 54-point haul in what was a rather modest week of scoring. The lead at the top is only 1 point ahead of Stewart Hart's Hartys Hammers with a number of familiar faces hot in pursuit.
The Manager of the Week award this week goes to a score that won't break any records but it was still an achievement to top score in this very competitive league. @PercyP's PercyP United and @Procalc's Kippax Boys share the accolade for this week with 85 points. Not a staggering amount but given how low the average scores were this week it's certainly to be applauded.
At the other end of the proceedings, we've got great news! Well, it's great news for the bottom-placed Andy Elliott and his Andellio team. After three weeks as the lowest scorers, I can confirm they avoided such embarrassment this week. In fact, they actually picked up a solid 54 points to gain significant ground on the teams above them. Unfortunately, there must still be the lowest scorer and this week that shame goes to Ian McGregor's Curse of Strictly who could only gather up 19 points. Rather conveniently, this low score came on the weekend that Strictly Come Dancing returned to UK televisions!
The deadline for transfers this week is 11am UK time on Saturday 21st September. Best of luck!

At the time of writing you can get Spain & England double @ 2.31 Unibet / Spreadex
Serbia without Mitrovic, Vlahovic, Milinkovic-Savic, Tadic and Kostic for this one, that's a lot of key players for them. Spain are missing Morata which is a concern, but hopefully they can still get the job done with all the talent they have.
England are missing quite a lot of key players, particularly attacking midfield but they could still field an AM lineup of Saka, Eze and Gordon which would probably be too hot for Seamus Coleman & co. to handle.
ROI squad doesn't really impress me on paper, it should be a good atmosphere out there and they can make it difficult for England but I feel Carsley and the fresh blood will want to impress here.
Short priced favourites hastily cobbled together in a double for mickey mouse league weekend... What could possibly go wrong???

Maybe one for bunging short priced favourites in an acca.
Need more info on Spain, Norway, Belgium, England and Ukraine games but those mentioned could be fit for acca material.
I will say that Foden, Palmer and Watkins are out for England.
English League One and especially League Two fans, where are you ???
We need your insider knowledge more than ever in this desperate hour.
MLS has a reduced card this weekend and the games are awful for 1X2 / AH bettors.

The Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League takes its first breather for the international break. Just three weeks in and it's @patriciamarc's Lucas FC who leads the way after earning an impressive 93 points this week. An unorthodox 4-5-1 formation saw them benefit from picking Mohamed Salah as captain with the likes of Luis Diaz, Eberechi Eze, and Alexander Isak tallying up decent returns.
In a PL Fantasy Football League first, the Manager of the Week award will be shared by four teams this week. 94 points was the highest total achieved this week with Rob Harte's Email this team in, @grindo's Tactical Genius, @Pempi's Polish Kickers, and Terry Coughlan's Boost for Victory sharing the accolade. Unsurprisingly, three of those teams had Erling Haaland as their captain and the other team had Salah as their skipper.
Meanwhile, the misery continues for bottom-placed Andy Elliott and their Andellio side. I think this could be the first time we have had a manager earning the lowest score of the week for a third consecutive week. It was just 15 points this round and it leaves the team with just 55 points at the foot of the table. Things could have been even worse had it not been for the points accumulated by Mario Lemina and Jordan Pickford. It's now a 63-point gap to the nearest competitor for Andy's team. This is the darkest of starts for the club. Is there any way they can come back from this?
It's now a bit of a break until the next transfer deadline which is scheduled for 11am UK time on Saturday 14th September. It's already proving to be a record-breaking season! Best of luck for the next round!

Ok, let's try a thread for anything that anyone notices about, say, a team, a player or a ref that strikes them as being worth bearing in mind for future betting opportunities. I'll add Spanish ref Mateo Busquets Ferrer as the inaugural inductee into our Hall of Gains!
Flagged by @Marek76 who bet on a red card being shown in last night's Real Madrid game, I took a look and also backed Madrid most booking points. The latter landed but not, unfortunately, the red card bet.
I make it he's shown a red card in 17 out of the 43 games he's officiated in the top 2 divisions which equates to simplistic fair odds of just over 2.5. He was 10/3 last night in a game with a fairly middling bookings expectation for Spain.
Worth keeping an eye out for possible opportunities to back a red card at a decent price in his future games.
Feel free to add anything similar that you spot that hit's your "must remember that" trigger!

The second week of Punters Lounge Fantasy Football League action has, unsurprisingly, seen a change at the top. Garth King now leads the way after notching up 76 points. King's rise to the top is all the more impressive due to the absence of Erling Haaland from their team with a front three of Danny Welbeck, Alexander Isak, and Chris Wood only getting 12 points between them. The key to King's success has been the midfield with Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, and Anthony Gordon all earning double figures this week. Throw in a vintage David Raya performance in goal and it's a proper collective effort.
The Manager of the Week accolade went to an incredible effort from @Gray306 and their Wolve Sa We team. Hopefully, the staggering 125-point tally accumulated this week made up for the 6-2 humping their own side suffered at the hands of Chelsea in real life a little easier to take. Haynes saw players deliver across his squad but the masterstroke was deciding to triple captain Haaland. This saw the Norwegian bring home 51 points off his own back. That points total has moved Haynes into 15th position and right into the top-end mix. It's worth noting this has been achieved with three Wolves players in the starting XI too!
However, with every moment of greatness, there appears a moment of humiliation. Unfortunately, for the second week in a row, that humiliation comes for Andy Elliott and their Andellio side. A sorrowful 18 points for the already bottom-positioned side has left them now 43 points adrift at the wrong end of the table and it's already looking like it could be a season to forget. It might be time to address that 5-man midfield packed with defensive-minded players! For the time being, in the village stocks with you!
The deadline for this week's transfers is 11am UK time on Saturday 31st August! Best of luck to you all!
