The 7.30 at Perth is a really weak affair and as long as Dutch Canyon is fit and can dominate I think he can win. Obviously the first question I can't answer with any certainty, but he did win a maiden point first time out last season so we know he can win first up. After that he won a handicap off 75 at Hexham beating Prince Dundee who runs again here. He followed up at Cartmel when just holding on. His next start he was very disappointing, but he wasn't able to dominate and he then just sulked. That obviously brings me to the 2nd point and I do think he can dominate this race despite the big field. There doesn't appear to be a lot of other possible front runners so hopefully he does get an easy lead. He ran on the final weekend of pointing which was his only start this year and he was 2nd in soft ground which wouldn't have been ideal and it was certainly a performance which suggested that a mark of 83 was one he could win off. I think the 4/1-9/2 on offer is a fair price and hopefully he can make all.

Back at Pakenham (Racing.com Park) tomorrow morning and I will be backing Mrs O'Malley in Race 6 at 10.30. She hasn't had a clear run of things this year as she has had a slightly unusual 1 run in January, 1 run in February and 1 earlier this month. The 2nd here over 1200m first up was a very good effort and then she was average over the same course and distance. That could be why she was off for 7 weeks and she returned in a BM64 at Echuca where she was 2nd, but the race wasn't run to suit as there was no pace in it and up to 1400m in a race that should have much more pace in it. She had good form last prep incuding finishing 2nd at Flemington over this trip in a BM84. There are a few dangers and ex Irish horse Fly For Yulong would be one of them, but at 7/2 with most bookies she is worth a bet.

Abacadbras passes 14 of 15 of my trends so he's definately supreme material ....fiddleron theroof passes 13 /15 so couldn't put anyone off that one ....only horse better is envoi allen who passes all 15 trends but is entered for 3 races currently ....if he goes for this then would warrant serious respect ....he would be top 3 rated on my ratings here and top on trends but I still think abaccadbras is the one they all have to beat .....
In the champion .....sharjah passes all trends and honeysuckle passes 13/15 ....these 2 match with my own ratings so it's a 2 horse race for me .....yes you can make cases for others but 7 previous champion winners came from honeysuckles race ...I'll be very  surprised if one of them doesn't go close so at the moment its easy choice

Just the ultima to tackle for day 1 now ...urrgh ....that will be fun....I've set a limit that I'll only consider horses that pass a minimum of 9/13 trends .....then rate the 8 or 10 horses that will be left hopefully ...that should ensure fantastic value in whatever it throws up then and that's the name of the game but i won't be able to finalise that until a day or two before
