  1. found a good page within the bha's website, where jockeys and trainers can give there reasons why a horse ran badly. been through this and surprising how many horses run well next time out, as sometimes there is no mention in the form of the reasons why they ran a shocker lto. for example some reasons would be...lost a shoe, denied a clear run, banged head on stalls etc. there is also a search facility as well... try the link and have a go: http://www.bha.org/inside_horseracing/about/whatwedo/disciplinary/whyranbadly.asp

  2. Re: Southwell 4/1/09 1410 southwell blue hills rpf 11/1 currently 12.5 betfair, target price 14/1 e/w. 14f handicap, if running up to form blue hills should be a great e/w bet. i am not convinced that gayanula the likely market leader will get the 14f. blue hills back in trip today, back to southwell and back to a mark under 60. previously cd winning form off todays mark, guaranteed to get the trip gos well this time of year at this track off this mark. trainer had a winner in last 7 days so hoping for a big run.

  3. Re: Southwell 14/11/08 ey up all, been working away to get "in front" for xmas, fancy one at southwell today..... 1555 5f handicap Colorus 20/1 bet365 BOG frustrating sort this, on a long losing streak, but down to a handy mark with kelly harrison taking another 5lbs off, effectively running off 58 today. if the gelding can overcome a wideish draw, the cheekpieces are on for the first time in over 2 years, claimer up, cd in the book, trainer in ok form, great value at 20/1 best of luck

  4. Re: Jumps Season 08/09 - Antepost Bets & Horses To Follow one i will be following doeslessthanme, jh johnson dual bumper winner, sold at the donny sales for £115,000 to top northern owner graham wylie. already beaten subsequent grade 2 bumper winner honest john. the johnson stable taking the definate article gelding hurdling, and can be a real star. may even get an early season outing later on this week at wetherby or cheltenham.

3.00 Great Leighs 5pts EW on Scruffy Skip (11/1 SportingBet) Let's hope this one can improve on the effort of yesterdays bet. Back down to a mark of its 2nd 3 starts ago, off 53, and looks primed to go well on its 3rd run back after a 3 month break. It's 2nd in June reads well, finishing a hd 2nd at Southwell from a nightmare draw, the field well strung out behind. Only just collared near the post that day so the drop to 6f today will help. Then, at Lingfield, average run finishing midfield but almost certainly needed the race before showing more promise lto at Yarmouth when 6th of 12 over todays trip. Berthed well in box 3 today and could go well if the likely strong pace ensues, with both George The Second and Connors Choice in the line up. Of the market principles, George The Second should make the running from the plum draw but is overrated on the basis of one good run, just beaten by Willhewiz who failed the frank the form in the first. Who's Winning is capable but much better on turf so I couldn't back that with any confidence whilst Marmooq has a 3 month absence from the track to overcome and will need the run. The Hoofer also ran in George The Second's race above finishing 3rd from a poor draw. With the jockey claim, it is 8lb well in for a length and must be strongly considered but opposable at the price. East Coast Girl could be the best of the longer prices, but has a long absence to overcome. Lightly raced and improving, could spring a surprise. My 3 against the field would be: Scruffy Skip (11/1 SportingBet) The Hoofer (7/1 SportingBet) East Coast Girl (18/1 SportingBet)
russ......you are a legend mate:nana:nana:nana:nana:nana:nana:nana thanks very much....got some 48's on betfair in running and had 25 quid each way at 11's.......................................................... won about £1000!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cheers mate i owe you a pint man :clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy
  6. 4.30 Bertoliver 5/1 PPower back at 5f after a spin last week on the a/w. went into my notebook with a good run at ascot over 5f in july. moved yards since and now with tom dascombe who has assigned decent apprentice ross atkinson to ride today, taking a useful 7lbs off. handicapper giving this one a chance though, and expecting a big run off effictively 85 today. oops its the 12th not the 11th....can a mod change date please!! was out on the lash all day yesterday and got the dates mixed up!!!!

  7. Re: Ascot ~Sat 11/10/08 1420 Drill Sergeant 22/1 Sportingbet E/W was at beverley to see this win a couple of runs back, and copped for joe fanning after the race who told me this colt was improving quickly, was a bit of a baby and was one to follow. i always take note of mark johnstons runners at ascot over staying distances, and as bowles points out 3yo's have a good record in the race. i have done my dough on young mick more than once this season, so no more of my cash will be going his way. possibly the unluckiest horse this year, and always seems to find trouble in running. keeps going up in the ratings however, and as they say weight stops trains. hoping that drill sergeant can be allowed to take an easy lead while young mick flounders on the rail full of running like usual!

  8. Re: Musselburgh~Sat 11/10/08 3.15 Indian Trail 33/1 Laddies E/W hinted at a return to form with an eyecatching run in the ayr gold cup last time out. blazed the trail for todays jockey on the stands side, and ran out of juice over the too far 6f. dropped a futher 4lbs for that, and although the racing post advises that indian trail is best watched, i reckon the time could be right at a tasty 33/1. normally a hold up horse, front running tactics were used at ayr, and i would like to see those again today. with the 7lb claimer on he could take some pegging back off his current mark.

  9. Re: Uttoxeter 5 October 2008

305 Zed Candy f/c 14/1 This one was well fancied on his hurdling debut and ran well to finish 3rd, with the first 3 pulling 20 lengths clear of the rest of the field. That was an average race and this looks stronger with some top stables represented, howver this one is expected to improve further for testing ground which he will get today after overnight rain. Will put a price up when more are available but i'll be looking for about 12-14/1. If it opens in single figures i probably wont bother.
great shout mate, i took your advice thanks a lot:nana:nana:nana :notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy:notworthy

Halfway To Heaven 3.15 Newmarket Already has Group 1 winning form against plenty of others unproven in this class. Has won over 8f and won over 10f and beaten Lush Lashes. Looking at the chart on RP site looks very progressive and still improving. 3 yr olds have a great record in this race and any O Brien horse in a group 1 race deserves respect this season so amazed to see this available at 8-1. Will take it each way although I am quite confident it can win this. Suggested Bet: 5pts EW at 8-1 Bluesquare 1/4 odds first 3
    top tip well done m8:clap
  11. Re: Fontwell 4/10

Sainte Kadette in the 4.00 is the best of these and showed good runs on the Cheltenham racecourse. Was hampered' date= but had every chance in one of the festival races and I will forget the chasing efforts. Pipe is good here with 25% strike rate. Stick a tenner at 6/1. If back to form will destroy them. This is a class 5 claiming hurdle after all.
rubbish m8! what kind of a tip was that?????? ;););););););););););););) :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol joking mate.....cheers for the other one though i'm off to the pub to watch the rugby now :beer:beer:beer:beer:beer:beer

  14. Re: Fontwell 4/10

3.25 Fontwell - Marsh Court E/W All bookies offer prices in the region of 20/1 and Sporting Bet give us 40/1, which has to be nibbled. This horse showed some decent ability in bumpers and also ran a 6th over hurdles. Had a break and should be fit after a runout on the flat. New yard can bring out something of him and a very interesting jockey booking with T.J. O'Brien on top. 40/1 Sporting Bet (I wish I wasn't limited there :cry)
:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:cow:cow:cow:cow:cow:cow:cow fookin amazing m8, i owe u a pint:beer:beer:beer get this on the banner paul ross.................

CAMBRIDGESHIRE RAPTOR 100/1~I was disappointed with this horses run in the Ayr gold cup i think hes better than what hes shown for a while. I also like the young Jockey i think hes Australian. i agree ted. i did a bit of a write up on raptor for the ayr gold cup, and i am convinced this horse will be suited by todays 9f. i cant beleive that william hills have this at 150/1, and i have had a fiver each way. stranger things have happened:lol the last 150/1 shot i backed was barons pit in the 2003 golden jubilee at ascot. was gutted with an unlucky 3rd to choisir that day so fingers crossed for my tenner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Re: Ascot Saturday 27/09

15:40 - Al Muheer Im going for a complete outsider here, This is a hard race to pick a winner in but Al Muheer is overpriced at 66/1. He has run well at Ascot in the past, Finished 2nd on his last run here to Shifting Star, Kepted on well that day, Stepping back down to 7f today where he has run well over this trip in the past. His form isnt great but I think he has more potential than he has shown so far. Small each-way bet, The price is insulting. @ 66/1 Ladbrokes (Each-Way)
i agree mate i had it at 66's as well. in fact i have backed 3, all at laddies, all at the best prices skhilling spirit 33's, al muheer 66's, signor peltro 25's. all for small stakes though.
  18. Re: Ascot Saturday 27/09 1540 Totesport Challenge Cup Skhilling Spirit 33/1 Ladbrokes e/w skhilling spirit caught my eye last week in the ayr gold cup over 6f on the heavy, and if he can avoid too slow a start, i think he is a cracking each way bet at a big price. a good second in last years victoria cup of a 4lbs higher mark over c and d, and what i think will be a good high draw today, i am hopeful for a place with the drying ground coming to favour the hold up types. min bet for me
