2pts M.Raonic to beat Del Potro 2.50 Bet365 Yuck! I feel sick but the candians only play for one part of the year and this seems to be it. This bet is more to do with how injured and tired Del Potro looks. He had some treatment on his back and after this treatment he had a really poor set.
Solid tip but why at a match complete book? With your reasoning it was completely illogical.
2. Re: Australian Open Tennis 2012 Tomic over Verdasco: 7/10 1.68 bwin These are two players whose careers are going in the opposite direction. Tomic is already on e of the smartest players on tour, Verdasco one of the dumbest in the history of the sport. Tomic will exploit his weaknesses til he starts to miss Muller v Fish - over 37.5 games 6/10 (over 35.5 games 1/10 - all I was allowed with Paddy Power) What needs to be said here? Two massive servers so breaks should be at a premium. Fish has had a poor start to the season and had an interrupted off season with injury so he's liable to lose a set here, which should be enough to bring this home. Almagro v Kubot over 35.5 games - 6/10 Panbet Nicolas Almagro is famous for his early slam marathons on outside courts and this should be no different. They played at Roland Garros last year and it went five sets and I expect something similar here. Almagro has an awful return game so he'll find breaks against the serve and volley Pole tough to get. De Schepper v Querrey - over 32.5 games - 4/10 Panbet/Marathonbet I don't really trust De SChepper from the baseline but given his massive serve he can keep this close for a couple of sets. 32.5 is too low. Gojowyczyk over Young - 2.68 - 3/10 Marathon Bet Speculative punt on the german baseed on his form in qualifying where he dropped just 9 games in three matches. Young is woefully inconsistent and his ranking is based largely on three good tournaments last year. He's unproven in slams especially outside USA and is fadable here. Davydenko x Montanes x Baghdatis x Melzer x Dolgopolov x Serra x Beck - 6.47 Ladbrokes 1/10 It would be wrong not to do a dumbass accumulator in the first week of a slam. Taken at one-ball book because of injury rumours surrounding Darcis. Melzer over Karlovic x Bogomolov over Riba - 1.96 Ladbrokes 7/10 Melzer has never dropped a set to Karlovic in five meetings while Gimeno just arrived in Melbourne yesterday and is likely here just to pick up his first round paycheck Gasquet -1.5 sets over Seppi x Baghdatis over Becker 6/10 Unibet Seppi has an awful record on hard courts against the better players while Baghdatis is in good form, loves Australia and should breeze past a Becker who is still along way from fully fit after a shoulder problem Federer Nadal Djokovic and Raonic all to win 3-0 1.86 bet365 6/10 They've all been handed delicious opening rounds. I'd be amazed if this one lost. Good luck everyone

3. Re: Australian Open 2009 - bets, predictions, reasoning

I'm on Murray 3-0 and Murray -6.5 both at 2.02 He loves playing lefties and against 1 dimensional ball-bashers like Verdasco. His defences are just too solid for that sort of player. He leads the h2h 5-0 in main tour matches. It's very hot out there too and that will favour Murray. I remember Verdasco having big trouble with the heat when he faced Stepanek in the 4th round of Wimbledon in 2006 and when he played Murray here in 07.
so close. Good shout jeffers. Great stuff from verdasco but you must be high if you think Verdasco can win the tournament. And judging by your posts I'd say the former is a reasobale assumption.

5. Re: ATP Auckland/Sydney and WTA Hobart/Sydney 11th - 17th Jan

Hi Guys Since we have a Tennis thread I thought I'd post here, if it needs moved could someone oblige ;) I have a £20 free bet from Willy Hills (With my Diary this year) Am I better backing Serena :) (I want to) or do you think Venus is a better choice.... Both 11/4 ATM maxmix
I'm not WTA expert by any means but Serena has much more hardcourt pedigree. She's not at her best this week but I'm sure she'll step things up when it really matters
6. Re: ATP Auckland/Sydney and WTA Hobart/Sydney 11th - 17th Jan

HEWITT @ 1.543 Pinnacle. I'm willing to go with Hewitt here. He's trying to make a proper comeback to the tour and looking to get into the top 10. He played pretty well last week getting wins over Blake, Kiefer and an inspired Hrbaty. He has an excellent 23-2 record in this tournament despite a couple of disappointing losses in his last 2 attempts (Seppi and Guccione). I'm not sure about Benneteau, but this match up is about how Hewitt performs. .
I noticed tennis insight have the score of the blake match the wrong way round. hewitt was battered 2 and 2 and had an ear complaint that affected his balance. it's not supposed to be anything serious though. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,24889700-11088,00.html
7. Re: ATP Brisbane/Chennai/Doha & WTA Auckland/Brisbane/Hong Kong & Hopman Cup 5th-11th

MELZER @ 2.37 Will Hill. Really don't see much between these guys. H2H is 2-1 and all matches have gone 3 sets and I think this'll be close too. Both guys have had some reasonable results in this part of the season, but I'd rather side with Melzer at this price.
I agree with this one. Melzer has a winning record against the likes of Ljubicic, Karlovic, Safin, Isner, Lopez and Llodra - all big servers like Fish. Fish also has a negative career record against lefties.
8. Re: French Open 25th May - 8th June
William Hill go 1.73 on Rafa. That's waay out of line with everyone else and a backable price for me. Sure you'll probably get better backing match-by-match should he end up facing both Djokovic and Fed but the price should close in further if those 2 end up in the same half. Just can't see anyone beating him over 5 sets on this surface. He's never even been brought to a 5th set here before afaik. Nadal - 1.73 - 10/10
almost feel guilty bumping this. rafa at RG is a close to "free money" as there is in sports betting and saved a mediocre tournament for me.

12. Re: ATP Hamburg & WTA Rome 11th-18th May yeah fair point. I sometimes try to gauge a guy's mental attitude to his injury by whether or not he plays in doubles. If they usually play doubles but they're missing from it when coming back from injury it can be a sign they're not fully confident and don't want to over-exert the injury. Safin looked pretty good today in the parts I saw and could be worth a bet depending on the price. I like Alberto Martin for tomorrow btw. Wawrinka could well tank after playing a lot of tennis last week and taking medical timeouts for back and thigh problems throughout the event. Martin has always been a good claycourter and is worth a shot at around 4 (1 set) and/or 3.25(1-ball)

13. Re: ATP Hamburg & WTA Rome 11th-18th May agree Granollers is value. Bolelli probably stayed in Italy getting drunk after his defeat to Roddick and Hamburg is probably too slow for him anyway. I don't consider him a "proper" clay courter. He's got an agressive style of play and will probably achieve as much on faster surfaces over the course of his career if he deveolops his return game. And yeah, I definitely look down on multis generally but in MS events especially with their small draws, motivated players and best of 3 format. Early rounds of slams are a different matter. But good luck if you decide to go down that path. You clearly know your stuff so you can probably make it work.

14. Re: ATP Rome & WTA Berlin 5th-11th May The worry with Roddick is that you never know if he's going to be trying too hard on clay. But Bolelli is a rubbish returner so the match-up is in his favour. The weather conditions could be a factor here. If it's dry over night and tomorrow it will dry out the court and help Roddick. If it's raining it will dampen the clay and slow down his serve though. Also if it's scheduled for the night match it will help the American. Always harder to return a big serve under lights and the lights at Rome don't seem all that great anyway. Maybe the organisers will have learned from tonight when they put the homeboy v the big server on lights and he lost. I'm leaning towards Roddick here too.

15. Re: ATP Barcelona/Munich & WTA Fes/Prague 28th Apr - 4th May

I think Stan Wawrinka has a decent outside shot of being runner up to Nadal in Barca. Stan James has him at 150/1 but no each way option. He's 80/1 1/3 odds at bet365 which I suppose is a better bet unless Nadal pulls out injured early? I'm too hungover for maths right now He'll probably play a qualifier in the 1st 2 rounds and followed by Nalbandian who he has a very good record against in the 3rd. QF would be against an opponent from a very weak section (Karlovic and Nieminen being the seeds) Wawrinka 80/1 bet365 e/w 2/10
One more please Stan. Everything gone to plan so far. Shame such a strong player emerged from the 4th section but Ferrer has been reportedly feeling tired and Stan turned him over in Barcelona before anyway.
16. Re: ATP Barcelona/Munich & WTA Fes/Prague 28th Apr - 4th May

150/1 is obviously a better bet here - you just have to lay back a part of it on BF should he make the final;)
problem is he'll likely be 10/1 in the final. I've had a small dabble on that as well anyway. Nadal is going to have to play 4 consecutive weeks to defend his clay points so if he's feeling any sort of niggle then this'll be the event he retires in I reckon. The placement of the qualifiers in the draw has been kind to him as well. He's not the most reliable guy around but it's as near to a 3rd round bye as possible. Bolelli looks a decent price there. I was quite impressed by Gicquel by Davydenko but apart from that I've always considered him a bit of a mug on clay. Main worry would be how Bolleli handles Gicquel's big serve. Bolelli must be the worst returner in the top 50 based on the few matches I've seen him play.

18. Re: ATP Monte Carlo 21st-27th April Whole world seems to be on Fat Dave. I got on him early at 11/10 with Paddypower. He said at the start of the week he was carrying a few injuries but he's been pretty flawless so far. He looked immense against Robredo and the whole world knows that Fed has been struggling. He barely survived against the journeyman Ramirez-Hidalgo. Not sure how Nalbandian will handle the much higher expectation on his shoulders this time but all signs suggest he's the right bet as an underdog. BOL Mr I and others on the Fat Dave Express
