This (http://www.xtratime.org/forum/348-history-football/255195-greatest-eastern-european-clubs-all-time.html) was quite an interesting thread I found on a forum. Lists the top 50 Eastern European football teams over the years and lists their best progress in European competitions. It's the Scandinavian sides that seem to struggle at this stage as well.
    Ostersunds FK vs Arsenal
I'll start this preview by saying that this is the exact sort of game that Arsene Wenger's Arsenal will screw up. Any Gunners fans with me on that? Arsenal are being tipped by a lot of tipsters to be a bargain at 1.53 to win outright. Incredible. Have we all learned nothing about Arsenal? Ostersunds FK might have been a fourth-tier Swedish side as recently as the 2010/11 season but they have risen up through the ranks under the management of former Stoke and West Brom player Graham Potter.
Ostersunds FK might be one of the smallest club sides to reach this stage of the Europa League but they come having impressed in this competition. In qualifying for the group stages, they eliminated Galatasaray, Fola Esch, and PAOK. In the group stage, they only lost once in matches against the likes of Athletic Bilbao, Hertha Berlin SC, and Zorya Luhansk. Arsenal also only lost once in their group games that included ties against Red Star Belgrade, FC Koln, and BATE Borisov.
As mentioned just prior to this preview, I am wary of Scandinavian teams that come into this round with little competitive football under their belts during the winter. I don't think the Gunners will necessarily steam roller the opposition but I can see them pulling off a business-like performance. Backing the clean sheet could be worth while. Looks like I've joined the tipsters bandwagon and against all my better judgement, I'm backing Arsenal!

A lot of the eastern European teams come into this round of games with no competitive football under their belt as the new season hasn't started yet. Anyone have any data as to how they perform under these circumstances?

Wolves have made numerous eye-catching signings this summer but Portuguese pair Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota look particularly impressive acquisitions. The latter was impressive up front for Porto last season and if it wasn't for Griezmann and Correia who play the same role, he would likely be preparing for a Champions League campaign in the Spanish capital.
Although his actual goals scored numbers don't look extremely impressive, a metric called expected goals gives a much better picture of his goalscoring potential. Jota hit 0.53 expected goals per 90 in Portugal last season which was only marginally lower than Andre Silva who signed for A.C. Milan in a big money move. Furthermore he is priced at just 16/1 to be the top scorer in Italy. Bas Dost wasn't far ahead of Jota either in expected goals figures and he hit an impressive 34 goals in Portugal last season. Jota played considerably less minutes than the pair just mentioned which is another consideration when looking at actual goals scored numbers.
Wolves have been lining up in 3-4-3 during preseason and don't have much depth up front. Bonatini will have to recapture his Estoril form and the likes of Dicko aren't exactly top quality options. This means Jota has a good chance of getting some minutes in a central position.
The truth here is that Wolves have signed a Champions League ready forward who is comfortable as a central striker or coming from the left. He's Griezmann like in style who likes playing inbetween the lines and not only has an eye for goal but is a creative force with his dribbling and passing. Stepping down into a weaker league with impressive expected goals figures and there is no way he should be an 80/1 shot in this market.

Put the 80/1 on last week and have seen some good stuff from him since. Good value for it. Might have to pop over to 365 if they are offering 100/1, though!

Made a really encouraging debut for the Cox yard before disappointing 2nd time out. However perhaps that run can be excused as it was her second run in succession on fast ground and she shows a liking to soft conditions. She gets that today and Cox has a terrific record with older sprinters so she might find a bit of improvement here. In these conditions she's no 40/1 shot.

Big win for Godolphin taking down an unbeaten Coolmore colt. Harry Angel certainly did that very nicely and shouldn't be inconvenienced by a drop to 5f.

Cheers lads, always nice to share a big winner. I was actually on the train heading into work so couldn't see much on a bad quality stream and really didn't have a clue what was going on especially as the Bet365 app had him down with a black cap. I basically followed a horse with red silks and a black cap that was tailed off and thought I had done my money before the commentator screamed his name when he hit the front a furlong out. Made it all the more sweeter in a way.
Not looking likely I'll have much for tomorrow at Ascot but i'll have a look through the card and see if I can pick anything out.

    Royal Ascot - Day 3
Just another update for later. The going stick reads - stand: 9.1, centre: 8.6, far: 9.0 and going by the first race the track looks fair although no one went down the middle.
I mentioned Jamie Spencer's record on the straight course yesterday and he's just picked up the ride on Bless Him in the Britannia later over the straight mile. He's 35 actual wins to 21 expected given the odds of the horses he's ridden and is clearly a massive positive to any horse's chance on the straight course. He shaped as if the mile would suit last time despite running keen through inexperience and the bigger field may help him settle better. With Spencer jocked up he's worth a bet at the prices.
