  1. Re: Nap Of The Day > Saturday December 13th 3:45 Cheltenham Rock on Ruby doesn't look exactly the same animal he used to be and Volnay de Thaix probably wants a little further leaving Lac Fontana a decent chance here despite giving weight away. A grade 1 winner he beat Volnay de Thaix by 6L at Aintree and loves it here at Cheltenham. He does have a bit to find on ratings but he's only 5 and the in form Nicholls tries cheekpieces for the first time. His deployment of headgear has been spot on in these big races and it wouldn't be surprising to see him run a big race at a course that he l
  2. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 11th December 2014 2:10 Taunton Black River beat Vautour by 6L while giving him 4lbs so he has obvious talent despite having a disappointing season over hurdles last year. He always looked like a strong traveler so when he was struggling from quite a bit out on his chasing debut it looked as if something was missing and I'm willing to write off that run. Nicholls said he filled his frame over the summer and he's hoping he's turned the corner which would be no surprise given what his yard has achieved this season. Interestingly cheekpieces are on for the first t
  3. Re: The Betting Lab Seems like Week 4 is available for free so I managed to watch it and no surprise it was very interesting. Shame I'm not a Racing UK subscriber but maybe I'll be able to find the other episodes around sometime. Does anyone have any suggestions of any other videos or up to date books which talk about statistics in betting, value, tissues or staking?
  4. Re: AS Roma v Manchester City > Wednesday December 10th Didn't watch the game but I backed Roma as well even though I had doubts over their ability in the big games. I've seen them put in some woeful performances against the likes of Juventus, Bayern, Napoli and CSKA but with City having so many key players injured I really fancied the home side. I think when you look at their side though bar Totti and maybe Pjanic at times they don't have the players going forward who have the ability to win these big games. Destro, Ljajic and Gervinho are just way too inconsistent and you wouldn't coun
  5. Re: Champions League Multi Bets Draws both came in but Benfica's near second string side seemed to outplay Leverkusen and Zenit don't look up to much away from home. Hopefully there'll be some nice accumulator opportunities in the knock out rounds.
  6. I'm sure some people here like having a big odds accumulator for a bit of fun so I thought it would be good to have a thread where we can share selections. With Juventus needing just a point to guarantee qualification and Atletico also just needing a point to wrap up 1st place I think a draw is likely here. Juventus are hard to beat in Turin and these strong defences won't be giving many chances away making the draw a good selection. Liverpool look a very average side at the moment and will find a Basel side needing a draw tough to break down. The draw maybe a little risky in the latter stage
  7. Re: National Hunt Racing > Saturday December 6th (Tingle Creek) That's unbelievable stuff Aidy. Fair play. :clap
  8. Re: Nap Of The Day: Saturday December 6th 3:00 Sandown Couldn't believe Balder Success opened at 2/1 and even though his price is more realistic now I still feel God's Own should be favourite. He beat Balder Success fair and square at Punchestown off level weights and won well again in receipt of 7lbs. His jumping will need to be spot on at Sandown but you can pick holes in his rivals quite easily and he looks a nice price at 4/1. Oscar Whisky ran a cracker in the PP Gold Cup but he shaped as a horse who would appreciate 3m and this race over 2m seems like a bit of an after thought with Spr
  9. Re: National Hunt Racing > Saturday December 6th (Tingle Creek) Couldn't believe Balder Success opened at 2/1 in places and it's no surprise he's drifted out to 10/3 on betfair. It's hard to see Oscar Whisky not being outpaced over 2m as he looks to want 3m and this could be a bit of an after thought with Sprinter Sacre being ruled out. I think God's Own should be favourite and the 4/1 looks nice value.
  10. Re: Nap of the Day - Friday 5th December 2014 2:50 Sandown Black Thunder put in a career best RPR on his reappearance but is a crazy short price against a rival who beat him off level weights on his penultimate start. Corrin Wood now receives 4lbs here and the small field should suit his front running style. His record fresh is impressive and his o my defeat over fences was in the RSA showing his class. He has the potential to progress further and is a huge danger to the favourite today. Coffin Wood - Win @ 2/1 Ladbrokes
  11. Re: Nap of the day 2nd December 2:30 Sedgefield Apache Pilot looks well handicapped after just being touched off in that voided race at Sedgefield but the outsider Strike Fast looks another with strong claims. He took a while to get going last season but showed some promise when rallying to finish 2nd when not travelling the best in a race which produced some decent hurdlers. He looked a proper stayer in that race and he again rallied well when outpaced to run his best race over fences last time out at Hexham. He received some good money that day and stepping up in trip with better ground s
  12. Re: Favourite Courses and Meetings Robert I've been to Leopardstown since and I agree, you can get a great view of the courses. For some reason I thought you couldn't get up there without some special ticket. :lol I was at Fairyhouse today which is just the second racecourse I've been to. Thought it was great in general, good atmosphere, everything was easy to get to and no where near as pricey as Leopardstown. Really liked the way the horses run right by the stand but on the flip side the square like nature of the course made it almost impossible to see anything on the far side as the hor
  13. Re: Novice Chasers - 2014/2015 Was at Fairyhouse today so here are my thoughts... Valseur Lido was very impressive travelling well and jumping nicely throughout. This seems to be the perfect trip for him but with so much ammunition Mullins seems to think he's an RSA horse which would be perfect for Vautour, Un de Sceaux and possibly Don Poli as well. I noticed last time out Apache Stronghold tended to look left when winning at Punchestown and he had some very noticeable issues going right handed at this level. Again right from the start he was looking left and he tended to jump left a lot
  14. Re: Nap of the day Sunday 30th november 2014 2:05 Fairyhouse Cracking race here with several in with a good shout. The Tullow Tank brings great form over hurdles while Gigginstown pair Valseur Lido and Real Steel look talented chasers in the making. However I like Noel Meade's Apache Stronghold here. He was a very good hurdler and finished just 3 and a half lengths behind Vautour despite having an injury disrupted season. He could have been an even better hurdler despite the fact he is built as a chaser and he now gets to show off his talent with some proper preparation in this competitive
  15. Re: Nap Of The Day > Saturday November 29th 2:05 Newcastle Irving took a nasty fall only 3 weeks ago and now has questions to answer as does Arctic Fire who can't seem to win in small fields. This gives the talented Aurore D'Estruval a big chance to win tomorrow. In receipt of 7lbs this progressive type should really put things up to Irving who I can't have just a few weeks after a really heavy fall. Aurore D'Estruval - Win @ 7/2 PaddyPower
  16. Re: Nap of the Day - Thursday 27th November 2014 2:10 Newbury Southfield Theatre is a rightly favourite after two good runs over fences but is well too short in a race where conditions aren't ideal and there looks to be value elsewhere. He's giving away 7lbs to Carraig Mor who never fulfilled his potential over hurdles but after time to mature and very soft ground to suit I can see him running a big race. He was running well before blundering the 4th from home last time out and looks could have the ability to cause an upset here. Carraig More - Win @ 5/2 Bet365
  17. Re: Novice Chasers - 2014/2015 What do people think of Un de Sceaux? Will he finally go to Cheltenham as so many racing fans want or do they really not want him to run on good ground? If he does go for the Arkle I presume Vautour will go for the JLT. Mullins loves making things tough for anyone looking to have an ante post bet!
  18. Re: Novice Chasers - 2014/2015 What a cracker we have coming our way at Fairyhouse. Might be heading up myself for the first time. Apache Stronghold looked to have some significant improvement in him when beaten by Vautour at Punches town. Didn't travel the best but gave an exceptional horse something to think about. On his debut chasing he travelled really well and he may be better on softer ground as he's a big horse, although he seems to go fine on good. Missed a good bit of last year with injury so he looks a horse well on the up and a major player. Real Steel is also interesting at

  20. Re: Nap of the Day - Monday 24th November 2014 1:05 Kempton River Maigue was a decent hurdler but stalled a bit around the 140 mark and looks vulnerable favourite in a field with a couple of progressive types. Fayette County looked to have more potential over hurdles left in him but has always been marked as a chaser in the making. Step down in trip but he's won well over 2m before and the soft/heavy ground will help. Trainer usually has his horses in good shape fresh and he should go close today. Fayette County - Win @ 5/1 Betvictor
  21. Re: National Hunt Racing > Saturday November 22nd (Betfair Chase) Conti has Cue Card in a strongly run race in soft ground and probably just has a bit more class than Dynaste so hopefully Simonsig and Champagne Fever shake things up a bit in the King George. Menorah looked better than ever as well but I think it's hard to see Conti getting beat at this stage.
  22. Re: Nap Of The Day ~ Saturday Nov 22nd 3:00 Haydock Silviniaco Conti will appreciate the return to a flatter course and will improve for the run. The rain yesterday will make this a proper test which is a worry for Cue Card who doesn't stay this trip as well as the favourite. Dynaste just looks a bit below these two but Taquin du Seuil looks a horse on the up after a very promising first attempt at this trip but may come up a little short today. Silviniaco Conti - Win @ 4/1 Stanjames
  23. Re: Nap of the day Fri 21st november 2014 2:15 Ffos las With the course to suit after posting his two beat RPRs here and a nice mark of 118, 7lbs lower than his hurdles rating Copper Birch looks set to run a big race. He'll improve for the run after looking short of fitness on his return after receiving support. The step up in trip and rain forecasted will be in his favour as he wants a true test of stamina. Copper Birch - Win 8/1 Bet365
  24. Re: Jorvik's Betting Log Interesting, best of luck mate!
  25. Re: Novice Chasers - 2014/2015 Good novice chase at Plumpton tomorrow. Far West jumped really well I thought and will improve for the run. He also was a top class juvenile but plateaued a bit after a good second to Melodic Rendezvous so his first run over fences was encouraging and could be just what he needed to reignite his career. Trip is a bit of an unknown unlike Deputy Dan who stays 3m although he wasn't as impressive over hurdles and made a few mistakes on his debut over fences. Coneygree also stays 3m and has to be a contender on hurdle form but has been off the track for nearly 2 y
